Luthra & Luthra, Amarchand, Kochhar and Titus have emerged as likely candidates to qualify for the quarter finals of the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) – Khushal T-20 tournament in Delhi after winning all matches played to date.
A total of eight matches were played last weekend, which was the third round of games in the group stage.
Luthra & Luthra’s unbeatable 238 for a loss of just 2 in 20 overs was the highest score of the tournament so far, and trounced Khaitan & Co’s total tally of 102 runs, all out.
Tarun Mehrishi was the opening batsman for Luthra in the first innings of Saturday’s match. His daunting total of 114 runs in 65 balls won him the man of the match title.
In the first match of this weekend's matches played on Friday, Saikrishna Associates defeated IPR firm Anand & Anand by 53 runs. Saikrishna batted first to score 207 with a loss of only three wickets and man of the match Surya Patnaik took 6 wickets to bowl out Anand & Anand at 154.
Turf Delhi Twenty20 finalist Bhasin & Co successfully chased up the 168-run target of K & S Partners in just 17 overs. Bhasin advocate Kamalkant Tyagi was declared man of the match for scoring 84 runs in 48 balls for his team that won by eight wickets.
Kochhar & Co won its second match of the tournament with a bonus point by defeating Fox Mandal which scored only 157 as against a good total of 225 runs made by Kochhar.
Senior partner and ex-captain of Kochhar & Co Dhruv Wahi opened with senior associate Arvindam Ghose to a partnership of 117 runs. Sandeep Dembla contributed 54 runs.
Wahi told Legally India: "We would not like to disclose our cards, but we’ll prepare and do our best for the next match ahead with Titus & Co.
"Unlike last time, we now have better opportunity and facility to practice at DDA Jasola complex which is just next door. This is our second consecutive victory in the tournament and got a bonus point in both the matches. With this we have six points from two matches."
Meanwhile, after Desai & Diwanji had lost its first league match to Amarchand Mangaldas, it batted first to victory over Lall & Sethi. Desai & Diwanji scored 188 for the loss of 5 wickets and Madhavan’s knock-out of 104 runs in 63 balls qualified him as the man of the match.
Unfortunately rain dampened the matches on Sunday, which could not sustain the action-packed momentum created by Luthra & Luthra, Kochhar & Co and Saikrishna; each team having scored more than double centuries on Saturday.
In one of the low scoring matches, Trilegal defeated JSA, comfortably chasing 51 runs in 7 overs.
Trilegal captain Yogesh Singh told Legally India: "Winning the toss was important and we were lucky to have won it, because overnight rains had left the pitch wet. Besides, our strong bowling order and fielding gave us an edge. Our bowlers stuck to good line and length and there was no looking back after the first few wickets fell cheaply."
Similarly, Amarchand easily managed to match up to AZB’s total of 70 runs. The firm scored 72 runs in 8.6 overs for a loss of just 3 wickets. Vaibhav Mishra made 35 runs in 23 balls and Karan Mehra took the critical early wicket and was announced the man of the match.
Yesterday evening's concluding match pitched Turf Delhi Twenty 20 champions Titus against defending champions Suri & Co and ended in victory for Titus. Titus chased 108 of Suri & Co in the tenth over itself. Saurabh Anand made 58 runs and took three wickets.

[Duly censored, as requested. However, please keep things civil, it is only a local league and not the IPL. -Kian]
All concerned would agree that as a matter of principle the tournament should be dirt free. If 'A' gets away violating fundamental rules, unabashedly and so daringly in face of all of us who know the open secret, not only is some 'B' encouraged to repeat, it takes away something from the game. I think it kills the spirit.

Either stop all this nonsense going on or I will suggest that this tournament be called-off. Or, as a third option, all of you agree should agree that this is all time pass and nobody really means what he/she is writing. Which of these three options do you agree with? Come on, everybody. Post your comments and we all try to form a consensus accordingly.
Of course? Why not?

To all: By the way, can anybody list firm/s which FOR 100% SURE have only their own players..... and PLEASE refrain from mentioning your own firm's name in this
Even if some team has outside players, we are sure that we are going to beat them.....An opposite team is a team, no matter who the players are.....this is the power of determination.....come on, all the teams, join me here and enjoy the cricket........If we can win a case against as great as Sir Nariman or Sir Sorabji, why not against a strong team....this is just a metter of strategy and doing the right things the right way.....
The rules of this tournament permit only employees and lawyers of the participating firms to form a team of 14 players.
A member of team Titus has told us on behalf of the firm's managing partner that they fulfilled all the requirements prescribed by the organisers before the tournament started.
This we believe is true for all the other teams as well.
Please play and enjoy the game for all it's worth.
So guys, please go out, play the game and enjoy! No matter which team is it and who the players are!
Play good cricket......no matter you win or loose......
I like your idea..letz start a blog where we can discuss the firms, managing partners, partners..

and by the way, i am not against bringing truth out............
And what we are discussing is not a joke. So don't talk about indo-pak talks, etc..
And don't wish peace for me. I am alive......
and i was not joking....u seriously should go for indo-pak negotiations...nothing comes out of it anyway...so you can put as many suggestions as you feel without any fear of any rejection of intelligent 'options'..
P.S. nobody is supporting your thoughts....as basically they are so confusing that even you thought it is better to support my thought which is single-track and right..thanks for the support...cheers
But by the way when was there a war, that you have won?????
Won't be able to respond to your comments any more. All the best!
good that we have now got the mediator out of the way....ppls lets continue with our quest to find the truth...cheers.
Second, I don't have to be out of anybody's way "to find the truth".................because I was never in anybody's way in finding the truth.............what what truth to find and in what manner?????
Legally India: What about #69?
I will come again as and when there is some kind of meaningful and purposeful discussion. Until then, bye........
team whose players make maximum and most and biggest lies gets best cheater prize.
I think, mediator who is absconding can be called at that time as a special guest, as arbitrator, to give a judgment.....and to decide the winner.........Ha ha ha....
Well said, #79
Going by the last few tournament the best players of the tournament never came from the Luthra or Titus (2009 Turf -there was guy from suri (sorry, forgot his name - brilliant batsman & the opening bowler from Dua again brilliant swing bowler, 2010 Turf - Rajat Mathur (Bhasin ) was by far the best batsmen & the Sardarji from Sai krishna - lovely spell. The team Luthra and the team Titus do well because they bond and practice all through the year - rather than just during the tournament. Its never about individuals its about the team.
Remember, Sachin never won you the World cup.
Now guys you may continue ... I'm out of here.
Cheers!
i would like to add my comments to the discussion.
My opinion is I think you are right Mr. mediator we should take all of this in a right spirit and Mr. Srisanth (no offence) but I think you are from a team where there are too many cheaters and you being one of them... wants to win an award not for the game, fun, entertainment or friendship.. but for CHEATING!
We congratulate you for being one.. U must have heard about a quote in Hindi "Hara chasma pehnne wale ko sab hara hara hi dikhta hai".. meaning that if u think u are a cheater, u will undoubtedly find some ppl of the same category around u and then pray for cheating awards!
Takecare!! All the best...Carry on!
Unless their own conscience pricks them (assuming, for the sake of argument, that the protagonists and the bystanders in each team have one), the time and energy that we have all spent on this website is going to come to nothing. Constructively (atleast to my mind), I would suggest that the more honest teams try and beat the cheaters on merit this year (wont that be a real slap across their faces), and going forward, simply refuse to participate in any tournament that also features these teams. Further, since the organizers of both tournaments have not, or are unable to, take any serious action, let the law firms organize their own tournament next year, without involving either of the two organizers.
That said, credit must be given to all of the more honest firms (including AMSS, Luthra and Luthra, Trilegal, JSA and Saikrishna (though I am informed that there are several others as well)) for continuing to stay away from these dirty games and playing solely on the cricketing stengths contained within their organization.
comment?
Thanks, Kian

[Hi, thanks for your comments but we can not allow repeated comments that just plainly abuse one firm. If you wish to have a debate that is fine, but please do not resort to name calling. Thanks -Ed]
Please read other comments as well - e.g., 88 and 89 - are they not resorting to name-calling?? Are you afraid or bribed in dollars ?? Come on, don't be a spoilsport. Legallyindia is great fun for all of us.....
[We will post up most comments as they are for the most part light-hearted, but please refrain from using a certain nickname for a firm, which is potentially quite offensive and not fair. That has nothing to do being afraid or bribery, but just with trying to keep the debate fun and fair for all involved. -Ed]
