Mumbai-based Credit Suisse director and India head of legal, Sapna Bhawnani, is set to join KKR in the new year as its second in-house lawyer in India.

She is to look after legal and compliance at the giant international private equity fund, and is expected to join by March 2020.

Bhawnani had moved to Credit Suisse in 2016 from Deutsche Bank.

Her joining KKR follows Jigar Shah joining KKR as its India legal head in early 2018 from JP Morgan, where he was general counsel (GC).

Shah was the first lawyer to join the fund in India.

Shah and Bhawnani had previously also worked together at Deutsche Bank, where Bhawnani had worked between 2010 and 2016 as vice president legal, and Shah from 2009 until 2015 as India legal head.

Credit Suisse is understood to have a legal team of four lawyers, with Bhawnani.
