More AIBE results to be out in days but could take week to clear ‘withheld results’

All India Bar Exam (AIBE) candidates’ results for more test centres would be uploaded within two or three days, though it will take longer to announce grades of candidates’ whose results have been withheld.

A Bar Council of India (BCI) source with knowledge of the AIBE process said that the private contractor agency – a Noida IT company called ITES Horizon – has said that results for all test centres would be uploaded on the website within two or three days.

The results for some centres were first published last week Friday but a number of examinees have reported difficulties in accessing their results.

A number of test results were also not available and marked as ‘withheld’ on the official AIBE results website, although the BCI source could not confirm the exact number of such withheld results.

The website had stated that “if your result is ‘Result Withheld’ then it means your result is under consideration of the council”.

The BCI source explained that some results were withheld for a variety of reasons, including mismatching enrolment numbers, signatures, markings or cuts on answer sheets, as well as payment issues – some exam fees are believed to not yet have reached the BCI from the state bar councils.

The BCI chairman Manan Kumar Mishra was not reachable for comment.

I don't know if I liked it better when my results hadn't released, or when they now say 'results withheld'

The BCI and its putsourced agency are not able to score the exams even twon months later. They are using the "Results Withheld" status as a ploy to cover their sloth. Literally dozens of the exams from Bangalore, for example, are withheld.

By marking individuals as "Results Withheld" the BCI divides and conquers an otherwise vocal group who would complain if results were held up en masse. Now, each applicant is left to worry alone; "Did I use whiteout fluid too much? Did I forget to enter some info correctly? Is the BCI evaluating me on other grounds?

The truth is likelier that ITES or BCI has lost many exams, damaged others, left some smouldering in piles outdoors somewhere, graded some using the wrong answer keys for the particular exam form (recall that there were multiple exam formats that day) or is simply too slow or disorganized to finish the job properly.

Let's make some predictions - (1) a significant number of results will not be available before March; (2) certificates of practice will not reach the hands of applicants earlier thanMay; and (3) BCI will announce another exam for the summer before the mess from this exam is settled.

I would also like to state that I was frustrated when my results were shouwn as "withheld". I tried to understand or get the reasons for the same. Someone said using whitener results were withheld; I tried to recollect whether I used whitener and came to conclustion it is not. What might be the other reasons; have I marked wrong set of papers, etc., I am just worried and cannot come to a conclusion. BCI phone numbers are not working. They do not even bother to give a statement why results for such candidates were withheld. It seems they are not interested to be fair and their intention is to make worries for the candidates.

The AIBE site has a fresh notification regarding "withheld" results and a list of persons from whom further information is required. The latter appears to be primarily people who executed undertakings at the exam centres and did not supplement the info later. The site said the balance of the withheld results will be placed, in batches, on the site by 6 Feb.

Yes.. same thing happening with me. I spoke to the BCI guys, he says it should be out by the 9th, no later than that. However, I am quite sure that there will still be a problem.

I have sent them an e-mail to which I haven't received any reply - AS YET.
