Yesterday I was very confused,

I was worried as to which car should I buy,

Yesterday all were good to me,

I was not in a position to reject any car.

Yesterday I was traveling through the books,

I was determined to get the amount to buy a car,

Yesterday all persons were my friend,

I was eager to know about these cars from them,

Yesterday I got depressed,

I was not performing well.

To get the amount which I needed,

I was working hard day and night.

Yesterday I was wishing,

I could get any of these cars.

I was helpless and disappointed,

I used to respect other car owners.

I could not insult them,

Because I was eager to get,

One of those precious car,

Yesterday I was very confused.

Some car owners used to guide me,

I used to ask my doubts from them.

They used to be my idols as they have already got a Car,

I always used to pray,

To get one of the cars like them

But today I have got my own Car,

Now I have become very possessive,

Today, I have come to know,

The features of my Car.

Today I have come to know,

the history of my car.

Today I think I was a fool,

That I used to consider other cars Good.

Today My Car has become the best,

It has got the best average than other cars.

Today I would fight with others,

Who are not a part of My Car.

How can their Car be better,

I will explain other car owners.

The feats which my car has achieved,

I love my Car a lot.

Today I would Explain,

Why my Car couldn’t perform well,

I will explain others that,

It was due to the Fault of the Mechanic.

Today I will tell others,

To wait for My Car to Start.

Once it gets started,

It would would give the best average.

Today I will explain others,

That see my Car can also perform well.

My Car had some defect,

Which has been rectified Now.

Today I do not want other to think,

That my Car has got some problem.

I know My Car is the Best,

It would remain the Best.

Note - ‘Car’ refers to a Law College and ‘Amount’ refers to the rank in entrance exam ( Not necessarily CLAT )

Very apt and insightful analogy, I like!

But aren't there some car buffs who love all and *any* car.

Are there no legal education buffs who are interested in all law colleges? (I count myself as one but probably have less vested interest in one institution versus another and when it is so competitive to get the 'car' it is no surprise that more pride is associated with it).

As an idea, the system for higher education in Germany, I believe, is partly down to a lottery. I.e., if you get good enough high school grades to study a certain subject (like Law, which requires top marks), you then get almost randomly allocated a university/law school. I am not 100% sure that is the exact way the system works, but I think at least it used to, more or less.

Now could that work amongst the CLAT schools? The 500 or X number of CLAT toppers will get allocated a place randomly at the CLAT institutions, provided they hit a certain mark?

Or would that be terrible? Could see this working in favour of the institutions in the long-run, with less competitiveness and more unity, also pushing up the quality of all colleges since everyone will have a vested interest in the system as a whole.

Just thinking out loud...

Yes, Kian you are right there are people who love all "Cars" but not many of them are present at the Comment Scenario :P. But there are many who before getting a Car wishes to get one, but suddenly after getting into a "Car" they don't consider other "Cars" as good.

And I think randomly allocating University would be a terrible thing, indeed. Because apart from the rank, there are many factors on which preference is given to a university ( Certainly, not by many )

Wow Kian! That is an amazing possibility!

One of the most outlandish analogies I have ever come across, so far. Nice work! :-) However, I am one of those damned souls who'll go to the extent of ripping her hair apart when she spots grammatical errors. So next time, please proof-read. For the sake of grammar nazis like me. Everyone makes mistakes, I know. But please do proof-read next time. :-) No offense intended. Just plain concern for the language and your poem.

Kian, your suggestion may be good for the currently lower ranked institutions in the long run. However, if these institutions are lower ranked at present, it is for a reason. So think of the plight of law students of the next 10 batches or so who are pushed into these lower ranked institutions based merely on a lottery. what is their fault?

Kian I know what your perspective is. That studying law matters more than where you are studying it. But then I believe where you're studying law matters a lot as well. And if the system suggested by you was implemented, it would lead to a ruckus. The person having a rank of 501 would ask "WHY 1-500? WHY NOT 1-600?". The one at rank 1 would ask "WHY AM I BEING TREATED IN THE SAME WAY AS THE ONE WITH A RANK OF 499". And of course, "WHY DID RANKER 445 GET INTO NLSIU WHILE I AM HERE AT NLUJ?".

The other way round to this of course, would be to first bring all the law schools to the same level.
