We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Working weekends depends on how much work your team does and sometimes the amount of work at the time of the year.
A lot of the people here are absolute cry babies who want to do nothing but keep crying about "le work hours" and "WLB" with highly exaggerated figures. There are certain verticals (B&F, Projects) where the average day is long (10-11 hrs) but people here will have you believe that every single team works 80 hrs and they are getting emails at 4am and are working on 5 hrs sleep everyday. Trust me, if the situation was such, the attrition would be much much higher than it is now.
A lot of the stories I read here just turned out to be blatantly untrue after I joined a T1 a couple of years back. This makes me think LI is full of pretentious law students and wannabes that have no idea of how things work and are simply parroting hearsay.
Law firm work in most practice areas is cyclical. You will have weeks or months of intense back breaking work followed by a week of absolutely nothing but mucking around and correcting grammatical errors in a non consequential report.
And lastly, you can do this job. Humans do this job. Many of them survive, some even thrive and for a lot of the newer NLU batches filled with students from middle class T2 and T3 towns are able to elevate their life within a decade or so, which is crazy. Yes, the work is quite often boring, monotonous and voluminous (especially at junior levels) but no job is 100% intellectual and fun. It is all doable and if you can endeavour to keep yourself physically and mentally fit then you can go a long way.
Very relevant for India, in light of statements made by the Congress and CPI(M), plus tweets by JNU students. As for law students, it's undeniable that many left-wing NLU /Jindal students and professors share this view. There was once a very unpleasant incident at Jindal, where a painting and photo exhibition by Israeli artists was held and the then Israeli Ambassador to India visited it. Some students wrote pro-Palestine messages on the paintings and photos.

But I still question, why aren't we considering 60+ hours as excessive. I mean I know we can't have the ideal 40 hours per week rule (no respect for workforce, India-no political intention to stop exploitation, plus this is legal field and other factors). But I would still say, for a start, at Max we should have 50-52 hours a week work culture in legal profession in India.
Raaani saiba ka gyan lagta hai bharpoor, jab ki hai bas ek rattnewaali hoor,
Raani saiba ko aati nahi vakalat, hai bas woh darr paida karnewaali saudaagar,
Raani saiba andar se hai darpok, isliye chillaana hai raani saiba ka daily ka doze.
Most toppers went for trilegal over Sam cam kco this year because of the major hike to 19lpa in salaries, and many chose boutique firms that have been reputed to have a better working culture. SCAM and others will have to follow if they wanna maintain the brand value cuz no one rlly cares about that shit anymore
These people dont realise that with absolutely no ac common spaces for students, calcutta heat is unbearable except for 3 odd months in a year. Shorts and loose clothing are necessary for survival. Even if not for survival shorts or no shorts is not something they get to decide.
Apparantly for them, shorts are disrespectful... Idk how. This is not a court or office. I understand shorts would not be acceptable in a place where formal clothing is expected but a college campus is not such a place.
Dress codes may be mandated for an event or certain spaces in campus or the entire campus altogether. But that is something that should result out of some due process and should culminate in a formal document. "wEaR fuLL pAnTs oR dOnT sUbMiT pRoJeCt" dictats are just not the way to go forward with this.
Wishing all the best
You may hate this answer, but the fact remains that majority students waste the 30% in frivolous ways. If they are that interested in interning and getting practical exposure, it is quite possible to do so without requiring such attendance exemptions. On the other hand, students who end up missing classes barely do anything to make up their theoretical foundation and that is a proven fact as educators and surveys across the world has established. You may say that nothing is being taught in classrooms, but the solution to that is getting better teachers and not to miss classes. You may claim that all that you need to practise law is to intern, in which case petition the BCI to do away with the degree requirement. Surely if all students think and feel like that, then they would continue to do so even after graduation and therefore people who vote for the BCI and the members themselves also believe the same!
One may argue that there are not that many quality internship opportunities available, which forces the student to be able to intern whenever they get that opportunity. To that argument, my counter is twofold. First is that, the solution of using 30% of your classes for internship will still work. Secondly, that is a reflection of the sorry state of affairs of the legal industry in this country. Missing classes and hence lacking foundational knowledge is what leads to more problems, not solution to that one.
Never applied any patriarchal approaches, I don't believe in one tried many simulation that women say, they wish for... but in reality not many women wish for honest guys, it's complicated. Came across your post so, thought to write so, you know right men are also their and they are struggling like you to find the right match.
The sports committee of GNLU has observed an increasing amount of involvement by the faculties of the committee, with them being the decision bearers of tiniest of the things like who will play on the grounds to the big things like who will head the committee. The committee had turned into a joke when 7 convenors were appointed , some of whom who hadn’t even applied for the post. It’s funny how a bunch of 30 year olds are harassing , threatening and bullying students who are almost 10 years younger than them just because things aren’t going according to their will. It is known in all NLUs that the committees are of the student, by the students and for the students. The faculties are overly involved in smallest of decisions and continue to openly bully the students in public and shut them up due to the fear of the court case that has been lodged suo moto by the high court of Gujarat. They’d rather listen to people who don’t even play sports as they just want to save themselves and act all righteous, not taking into consideration what all sportspersons they are harming in the process of doing so. They’re even afraid of things being posted to legallyindia, scared that their reality and hypocrisy will be out in public. There is a dire need for the faculty involvement to be lessened and the student democracy to return in order to ensure that the sports committee is functioning to its full potential.

Lovely place, I would definitely recommend it. It is a very familial sort of place, everyone sits together for lunch., they're very chill with work from home etc.
They have a high quality bar though, so keep that in mind.
Thanks

Insolvency & Bankruptcy has huge scope, considering the exponentially multiplying corporatization In India. As good as it seems, the job of an insolvency professional demands meticulous work. One wrong turn, and you have your suspension order from IBBI. Thus, needs to be cautious as well. Nevertheless, there are now Process Advisories, which can be engaged, at a nominal rate, who will take care of running the desk job of the process. IP, thus becomes, more of managerial job. One needs to be well-versed with Finance and Management knowledge to become a successful IP.
- Live in sea-facing penthouses
- Be chauffeur-driven to office everyday in a BMW
- Fly first-class to New York every few weeks and attend business meetings wearing Armani suits
- Have champagne and caviar at the Taj Chambers every Saturday
- Play golf at the Willingdon every Sunday
- Date glamorous actresses and models (who will swoon after hearing that you graduated from a tier 1 NLU)
Who's going to tell them?😅
TIA
No point in cribbing now and internships toh NLU walon ko bhi nahi milta w/o connections. Chill.
Nil till PA level.
Also, no one earns crores out of MBA college, even those who make it to IB and PE roles. That takes a few years (1 crore - not several - that takes more time if you are lucky).
P.S- Make sure its Leviosa and not Leviosaaaa.
Well I am also a 2nd year UG student Of DU. And I myself to is confused with the same, whether to choose clc or NLSB!!

- Don't dress too posh: don't wear blingy silk ties and expensive shirts. Remember, the message you want to give is that you need financial assistance. A simple white shirt is fine.
- Instead of just saying "I am interested in the field of human rights", be specific. Choose niche areas if possible, e.g. refugee rights, tribal land rights etc .
- If you're asked "Why did you choose to study law", don't say stuff like I argue well, my teacher suggested it etc. Instead, think of (or make up) some injustice that you saw as a child, e.g. the police beating up a homeless man.
- Introduce yourselves with this line: "My name is _____ and my pronouns are ___ and ___ ".
- If you're asked about Israel and Palestine, give an answer along these lines "All violence in condemnable"; "Hamas was wrong to kill innocent people and take hostages, but Palestinians also have a right to a Palestinian state".
Good luck. ❤️
Companies you have never heard of- their IPO will be done by Bhakta or Thomas or Brajendu's team (eg: Aether Industries).
Occasionaly Richa's team will pick up something like Sula Vineyards.
They are not pulling much business anyway. Avoid.
