yes, there are opportunities, but connecting to those opportunities is not easy. 3+ PQEs may apply directly, but only about a quarter would get a call back, and then about 1 in 10 will be called for final interview.
Passing SQE is not that difficult (as long as you have some form of coaching and can spend around 1-2 hours everyday for 5-6 months), however, getting a position to train after that is. So, I would suggest please have a chat with someone who has been in the UK in a similar job profile (that you aspire) to know what the current situation is.
Reminds me of an apocryphal quote from an immigrant “When I got here, I learned three things: The streets are not paved with gold. They are not paved at all. I am expected to pave them.”

Maybe we shd focus on more better faculty, academics, infrastructure
I do find the "proper brand" bit funny. Read about watches outside the bubble of r/watches/Nico/Teddy/Hodinkee. There's a lot of heritage that you should chase - which is the real joy of horology. Anyone can throw money at an AD and buy jewellery. If you really want that partner to look at you as more than a spoilt kid with bad planning, you should know the history of the watch you're wearing. Money doesn't buy the respect you're looking to get.
As a side note, brands like Nomos, CFB, Tudor, Longines, and Cartier - brands with rich history and deep catalogues - are well under 6. But hey, your money. Do what you want.
2. Gently ask feedback on the bigger assignments(something as simple as “hey was my research on x helpful?”, but time it during a relaxed hour and don’t pester), make sure whatever leaves your desk is reliable, thorough and well formatted. It also ensures that people remember what you worked on. Go the extra mile.
3. Try getting more work from your mentor and seniors within the team.
4. Be sure to get the feedback form filled. Be available on weekends, be responsive and eager (or put on a front if you don’t feel it from the inside, most of all do that).
5. Do not be afraid to ask for more details about the work instead of guessing and wasting effort.
6. Ensure that you make thorough internal records of what you worked on, not just what you sent but also where you looked and how you went about it. It’s good for interview prep which might happen months later.
All the best buddy! And remember, sometimes you can do everything right and there’s just not a vacancy. A PPO doesn’t define your self worth, don’t let it.
Gujarati me hi baat hogi
Kem chho?
You’re getting demotivated because there’s lack of proper instructions/ feedback from your team. If the only feedback you get is negative, you’re spiral downwards.
The way to survive in a law firm -
At least minimum you need - one mentor + one friend at your level in your team
The mentor - someone senior who actively looks out for you, who actively takes time out to help you understand the work
The friend - when you are feeling confused and frustrated, you can speak with them confidentially. If you’re confused, your peer will explain it to you, if they are confused, you’ll explain it to them. You’ll be each other’s support in the trenches.
It sounds counterintuitive when there’s so much more work and I know it feels like there is no time to do anything, but spend a bit more time on developing your relations within the team. That will reap benefits. Also try to observe the working style of your seniors. You don’t have to suck up to them, but if you can understand how they think, how they work, when they are in a better mood to teach you, that will work wonders.
Right now it’s all about soft skills
Someone posted on another thread that it is a 'no profit and no loss situation'.
Do the savings average out? i.e. does a SA (Magic circle) have similar $ / sterling savings compared to a PA / counsel in India (assuming not married, no car, living reasonably etc.). If someone wants to save money for dependents in India - does it make financial sense to move offshore or stay in India? The query is limited to this level - not looking at partner level as that would building a book / making business case etc.
To the HR- You have to level up your game and instead of defending the firm, try improving the work culture and environment of the firm. 5-6 Associates carrying significant experience have left in the last 11-12 months. To the joiners- Before joining please read all the threads related to this firm on LI.
To the Partners- Not everyone gets a firm in heritage, please respect the hard work and experience with which people your firm. I understand nepotism is everywhere, but what about merit. Bhai hi partner bnega?? Aur koi outsider nahi ban sakta.
Khair. All the best.
I also spend one week each year with my financial advisor, and review all my investments. It's mostly a combination of equity and debt. I've been able to comfortably grow by 15% CAGR over the last few years. I took some money out and bought a place overseas, but there is still a large and growing corpus that I don't need to touch for a long time.
Honestly, once you have this kind of wealth, you don't need that much money. It's mostly about who you know and what places you have access to. I don't lead a very flashy lifestyle and I've already done the basic spending (nice house, nice cars, nice concierge), so I am on cruise control from here.
Cost sharing between 2 cities
Building of infrastructure and sporting culture in 2 cities instead of 1

I have interned at various chambers of AOR and law firms like DMD Advocates, JSA,Srikrishna & Associates, Karanjawala & Co.
I want a placement at a Tier 1 law firm preferably in Delhi or any other place in the dispute resolution team.
Kindly Folks help me find one.
Thanks in advance!
Interlocutory application under section 60(5) of IBC read with Rule 11 of NCLT Rules, 2016? Or under any other section IBC and the regulations made thereunder?
Can do it all. What exactly is your query? Surely, you don't want a sample IA on this platform
Thanks for the honest invite to ask things, would love the insight.

I now own 3 residences (main 4BHK in the city, a spare 3BHK in the city that I have passive income from, and a weekend getaway villa that I occasionally rent out). I have 3 cars, a luxury German sedan, a solid SUV and an electric nexon for city zipping). I take 2-3 foreign holidays a year (this year, it’s Malta and Tanzania). I own a few luxury watches.
Anything else, feel free to ask.
There must definitely be some softwares to proof read and draft documents using another base draft. Similarly for DD, tech usage is must.
For me the cream practices are only SAM and trilegal. Rest all are tier 2 and 3
Why don't you buy a Tudor Royal or a Tag Aquaracer? If I see a T1 with an Omega or GS, I'd just think that their dad's bought it for them - decidedly anti-respect.
https://theprint.in/opinion/mahua-moitra-has-constitutional-immunity-even-if-she-took-bribe-she-cant-be-prosecuted/1811750/
I don't think Mahua will be expelled. Her matter has been referred to the Ethics Committee and not the Privileges Committee. Only the Privileges Committee can expel, the Ethics Committee can only censure. And if the TMC suspends her she will be welcomed to the Congress, which was her original party. So her career remains strong.
While it’s helpful if you know the local language, you can practice in Bangalore even without it.
For the practice itself and real estate laws, learning starts only once you join a team, since there are several laws, most of which are region-specific. Might be good to reach out to someone in a real estate team to understand what goes into the practice.
Are teams hiring for 2024 batch?
Ideology IS clearly taking over academic rigor in universities. Not even just elite universities- even universities here. There is so little room to disagree without someone - usually students- calling you a bigot that of course academic rigor is gonna go for a toss and ideology is gonna take over. Whats worse this post modern brain worm has convinced us rigor is somehow an elitist thing to want- instead of the thing to want if you have integrity. Theres little to no rigor in indian law schools and when young idealistic professors try to have some of it- they get punished in course evaluations and eventually quit academia.

I got a similar response from people from other law firms as well, both large and small. We are sitting on a golden opportunity right now for Indian lawyers who want to build international careers and even migrate to the UK, which has just emerged owing to the cocktail of remote work, cost advantage from India, creation of the SQE in 2022. We are organising a bootcamp to share how Indian lawyers can tap into this opportunity this weekend, from Saturday to Monday. Let me know in the comments if you're interested so that we can DM you the link.
So what does this tell us?? You may just have the potential to be NUMBER ONE in UPSC Mains (a descriptive paper which tests writing skills) but still not be cleared by UPSC at prelims stage itself because may be suck at objective. So it is totally wrong to say that just 12000 are serious. I'd say there are lakhs of serious candidates. But as the old saying goes if you test a fish by its ability to climb trees it will always fail. UPSC system has failed many a bright spark.
Secondly, nowhere in the DEVELOPED WORLD you have a civil services system similar to India. Simply put, it is TRASH. These officers were given so much power because they used to be British and we were their slaves. It was a Master-Slave relation. It is a pity how the same system has been allowed to continue unhindered in modern India. Even in UK you do not have an All British Service. In US there is no post like a DM. No exam that you can give and become the fucking CEO of a district. Govt services much like any other services like Army should be ground up. Like you start from a basic post and climb up the ladder. Similarly there should be lateral entry, like in US. People should be free to join govt from private sector and vice versa. But these babus oppose even that. They just want a system that feeds their ego. Surprisingly middle class Indians who are the WORST SUFFERERS of the high handedness, corruption and rudeness of these officers are actually a HUGE SUCKERS for these civil services and want their children to become one. The reason is simple, they want their children to have same powers and same money, that they had once been victim off. It is a typical middle class Indian's only lottery to power and money. Just give an exam and get everything. This lottery is not only illogical but should have completely been annhilated in 1947.]
1. Whether ideology is overriding academic rigour in elite universities.
2. Weather Gen Z students get marks too easily.

(Had to use Citrix at scam as an intern, pls tell if rules are different for associates or partners. Similarly KCO had no such software for interns, does it change as an associate?)
Anyway anon you could try applying for these firms:
1. RPV legal although their forte is arbitration they their associates around 40k to 60k per month.
2. Karanjawala and Co - New Delhi
3. Aggarwal Law associates
4. Singhania and Co

Your defence of MM is just pathetic.
One thing you can do is just apply to the AAP legal cell. They are more receptive than Congress and BJP. AAP also looks nice on the CV. But do not work with any TMC MP. This party is facing tons of corruption cases and is a bad bet for CV enhancement.
I have multiple times felt like leaving the law firm circuit, however, I don't know what I'll do once I resign. I can't afford to stay jobless or even take coaching for competitive exams. With this small experience, no inhouse would also take me in. Please guide how do I keep myself motivated.
Don't know why they give unrealistic deadlines to Client?
Plus JD has for some reason chosen to go to Delhi Police instead of filing a civil suit for recovery of his "property"...what gives?
Btw, be wary of crap like "Call back, but not assessment"....especially if they are on a hiring freeze.
NDA Mumbai/B'lore - practice not as good as it used to be. Most good people have moved out. Gowree Gokhale still holds fort and well. Particularly strong on media, gaming, IP.
Indus Bangalore - lot of startup work specifically, not so much of core tech. Used to have a lot of good gaming work, but the industry is weaker as of now.
Ikigai Law - Delhi/B'lore - range of high-quality work. Very good in data, fintech, digital assets and government tech policy work. Each of these practices are run by specific partners, so heavy specialisation.
Kocchar - traditionally strong on telecom.
SRL - Good team for fintech, do a lot of data work also. But you may end up working not so much with the partners directly.
Obahn - emerging practice.
TMT Law - lot of telecom, health-tech and disputes work. Abhishek Malhotra is good, rest of team is ok.
AZB - Rohan Bagai's team is good in fintech. Other practice areas are not as strong.
Khaitan/JSA/Luthra/Saraf - avoid their tech teams.
SAM/CAM - I don't have as much visibility.
