We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

- The costs involved
- The quality of the facilities
- Whether there is heavy demand and it's hard to get a slot (as it's not exclusively for NUJS)
Please be transparent and give us proper info.
Pls don't get me started with SAM.
Also S&R is the most transparent firm I know in India.
A huge issue with NLUJ is that because of their contractual positions, they can never retain any good faculty. All of their faculty members keep applying at various NLUs and would leave the moment they get an opportunity there. In fact, several NLUJ faculty keep applying for even contractual positions elsewhere, which bodes ill for their involvement and loyalty for the institution. NUJS also sees faculty leaving regularly, but usually for better opportunities, higher positions etc., and they have a core group of people who are from Kolkata and hence would obviously prefer to stay there. I am not from either place, but have known plenty of people studying and teaching at both.
Buddhadeb Bhattacaharjee and all law-abiding, pro-development people of Bengal and India stand vindicated

For that matter how is state service below CGL?
You do realize that it's not only SDM and DSP, right?
You also missed Regulatory institutions, banking and Insurance.
If I start with a Tax firm, will it be possible to switch to a Corporate Team down the line?
Or is switching between profiles every difficult?
Someone from NLUJ can post about their sports facilities - I have no idea.
Pray tell, if there was any Partner worth joining in the Mumbai office, who would that be and why?
No idea when it comes home/ what to do if one isnβt at home when to arrives bc
I'm a Class of 2023 Law grad from a reputed trad law school.
Was pursuing my CA along with 3 year LLB.
Now I've decided to quit CA and get into law full time.
How do I go about things now?
Is it possible to get a legal job since I have no legal experience. I've worked with a CA firm for About a year.
Thanks in advance.
They didn't lose their jobs merely over supporting a two-state solution, advocating for humanitarian aid or heck, even wanting a ceasefire. They went as far as openly supporting an Islamic terrorist organization like Hamas and justifying the October 7 attacks. Free speech is all good but a line must be drawn when it comes to supporting LITERAL TERRORISTS. Be as pro Palestine as you want to be, as long you don't stoop low enough to support mass murder of civilians.
Also, the email mentioned that Gaza has been blockaded since 2007 but did not care to explain why. Wonder why.
I find it ironic how Israel gets so much flak for violating human rights while every single other Middle Eastern nation has a norm of gender apartheid (treating women as second class citizens) and de facto death for queer people. Doesn't mean Israel is perfect, but they're miles better than any of their barbaric neighbors.
2. Another senior partner (has kids): "He wants paternity leave? Why the f** do these people need to have so m*any kids?"
3. (Ok this one was a client but is possibly the cringiest thing I've heard in years) In car with very senior executive of client. Sr. Exec has just noticed young woman on the side of the road brushing her hair and mutters to himself: "Aaja meri jaan, tere baal main sanwaar leta hoon".
4. HR/Admin at my first firm decades ago: "I know you're sleeping with [Ms.] X kyunki tumhaari bahar koi girlfriend nahin hai - hame sab pata hai".

And while I was working with one of the partner on an opinion, she inquired from me something regarding the client which of course I did not know. She out of nowhere told me "*jao bhagwan se jakr pucho or else I will fix your meeting with queen of hell (*she was referring to herself). Mai bhi chalu, bhagwan jsey hi bola, mai upar dekhne lga as if to actually pray god for answer. She was fuming over this and shut me out. All the associates and interns were laughing their ass off. Few months down the line, switched to corporate. Life is good, I am in control of my hours, log toh ache bure milte rahte hai.

The thing is I also play badminton on a competitive level. I would wish to continue with that while getting the chance to excel academically. Therefore, it would be great if I could get that place that gave me space for both.
Can I get LI's view on this?
Join a chamber or law office looking to hire, learn the law then move on to better firms listed herein and then to a T1.

is this correct ?
But this thread has reignited me to look for a job with a balanced work environment. I am now more determined to find such places where no hierarchies exist at workplace, where you have colleagues and not bosses, where people are compassionate and who understand having a space for yourself, and where you are also taught to transcend your comfort zone and contribute your own way to a workplace.

Have a good day and thanks in advance :)
This seems to the first ranking in a long time to actually put NLSIU out of its traditional number 1 spot. This could be a consequence of all the changes at NLS after the new VC, most importantly, the increased student intake and domicile quota which obviously affects public perception. Is this the future order of NLU rankings? Another positive aspect of this ranking is that it reveals the names of the jury members to made the decision which includes partners at tier-1 firms and senior lawyers. Surely, this is how the industry perception is also shaping at viewing these top NLUs, and it's in line with how many students and coaching centres see it as well.
To youngsters reading this: 70 hours is a joke. Do your 40, go live your life. Your parents are the youngest now they will ever be, your relationships still stand a chance and your back pains haven't set in yet. Hustle and grind but never at a personal cost. Cheers to your generation and thanks from mine.
Dishonesty or Disinterest are two red flags. If either of these two behaviour patterns manifest continuously over time and there is no improvement despite warnings, I throw the person out on the spot.
