I'm not from NLS. I cannot think of anyone from my NLU or from others who might even compare. Maybe Anup Surendranath, Maybe Araghya Sengupta and Alok Prasanna Kumar, Rohit De in a few years. But half of those guys are NLS too.
Every award cant go to dhawan and chimni and baxi as if theyre gods in a temple. This award did not exist when they were in their heyday. They are no longer in their heyday. Should we start by giving the infosys award to ambedkar? to nehru? Gandhi? BN Rau? where does it stop?
Please make this as a running thread. It would be so helpful.
If you are- and you think you have any reasons at all to be accountable to people who keep this website alive-
your definition of what is hateful, or abusive. Are you actually upholding the law on free speech or are you enforcing your own law? If enough people report a post does it go away? what is your magic number?
How do you work to ensure your biases are not influencing what you think of as being false, hateful, bigoted etc? What do you do to make sure that youre applying standards consistently across equally placed actors? Why for example can one VC of an NLU be derided here constantly and comments about another one always unpublished? Why insist on sources and facts for the latter but not the former. I do defamation suits- the first guy can take you to court any time he wants for the kind of stuff youve allowed to be posted here. Its a good thing he doesnt want to look petty by threatening legal action.
I dont particularly care about any of it- I'm not on the right, I dont like the VC of the NLU thats often derided here, I dont like hateful or abusive stuff. But if youre gonna try and justify your decision making- you should do it in a good faith manner.
I am looking for friends and companions.
More details in pvt due to sheer amount of trolls and doxxing issues.

And yes the z lib bastards are back on the surface web.
That's all I'm saying
Vikram Sampath and Sanjeev Sanyal are not legal academics. I don't think Swapan Dasgupta is either. VIF doesnt do legal work.
My senior (2008 batch) usually charges 50k at the SC.
But I saw her charging 3.5 l per hearing for an outstation matter.
pls give true insights and don't at least make this thread a mockery by bumping it
I have rejected my parents plans for arranged marriages, as I found most guys to be unsupportive, patriarchal and found the whole process as a headache. Even after trying hard there has not been a spark. (it a good thing but dont reject every time they will get sad )
I am not deemed conventionally attractive, and have never been asked out by a single guy throughout my life. Most of my girl friends get hit on by men - they go for dates, get lunches, compliments from men. ( not every one is pop-star so practise make perfect )
But I have never got any of these even though my friends who looked even bad got dates.
( just watch trendy advertisement on television for how to get back compliment)
Signed up for Bumble and Tinder only to find that most men are creeps. I felt like calling the cops.
( it t good thing to do because chaso every ware)
Registered on a matrimonial website - have seen some guys, none match my standards (which are very reasonable) ( leave this work to your parent because they will worry about you )
Office colleagues and friends circles are pretty much useless as most men here are married with kids. And other guys in my age groups are looking for younger women( better not to do much at office time if you have more time visit family and friends do hangover or stay in night at your friends house, for other guy not looking just practise makeup season just go natural )
The men I found attractive (character) , felt a spark, I asked them out, proposed to them only to find out that they didn't reciprocate the same feelings. I didn't just gave hints - I have asked them out on a date, proposed to them myself to find that they were also wasting my time and playing games.(you got move forward if you found out about that guy for reference on all your how you act)
Over the past few months, I have been feeling lonely and left out by my friends and family. ( gym, drama or movie oe enterminent
If JGLS is unaffordable, try GLC in Mumbai if you're after a good placement
(1) you are completely driven by profit motive and obviously nothing wrong in that.
(2) The interns are of no use whatsoever and do not save even a minute of your staff.
(3) yet firms and offices would delegate the task of handling internships to HR, have a dedicated mail ID or a space in the career page and some even ask for sample works, allowing to utilize the resources of the office, giving them internship certificate etc.; not sure if that is a waste of resources, before, during, and after the internship. Some, especially the smaller one's, even go to the extent of reaching out to platforms for the advertisement of their internship program.
(4) That experience makes one infallible and it is a significant criteria in determining one's arguments/opinion.
I would leave it to the wisdom of the readers of LI.
However, I must clarify that I did not advocate for paying more then what one is actually entitled to. At least that's how I read performance-based stipend. The fact that many come from smaller town was only to accentuate why it is necessary to at least pay to the extent that they can meet their minimum expenses and not to exploit beyond a point just because of the huge imbalance in supply.
Anyway who am I to question elitist and exclusionary views/practices.
This is what I did last year - ranked 90s.
More info needed.
Ye Hai tumhara research jao karo
Not sure if Abhinav Chandrachud takes NCLT matters, but dude u can get Abhinav Chandrachud for same fees. i heard that he hiked his fees to maybe 1.25L per hearing.
Other good counsel for NCLT would be - Navroz Seervai (higher fees , very senior)
Dig Mumbai.
Made myself suffer for 6 months and couldn't move an inch in their battle. Gave up and started to focus again on my career. It has been 2 years now from that time and things have not got any better. I have now started to treat this as a normal course of life so that I don't panic every time I hear something is going on at my home.
You can
First you must understand the world doesn’t owe you jack and the world cares not a whit about how rich or poor you are. You seem to be under some misguided assumption that we care about alleviating barriers or bringing some “equality”. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are hardcore commercial advocates for whom our clients are our gods - they repose total & complete faith in us and it’s not a responsibility we take lightly. We are here to make money, make our clients happy and win glory and name for ourselves.
We are NOT here to give freebies or break barriers or whatever other nonsense you may have in your mind. I have many people who ask me for an opportunity to work as an associate for free - and here you are blabbering blithely about some paid internship.
You seem to be under a misapprehension that the world is fair or owes you something or you deserve some recompense as you are from a small town / humble background. The moment you perish such thoughts as ideal fantasy, is when your progress can start.
I also deeply appreciate your critique of my lack of understanding. I suppose my 20+ years of experience (which include involvement in setting up one of the new NLUs) leaves much to be desired.
In any case, 75-100k per hearing is not too much. There are people who graduated around the same time as her who charge this much for appearances in Delhi. Yours is an outstation matter.
Your mental state during that time will make a juggernaut of a difference. I fetched a good T2 NLU in my second attempt without any preparation as I was not expecting anything and was simply enjoying the paper.
Although, I regret this, too. Had I have prepared for the CA section, I would have ended up in a T1 NLU assuming that other things were constant.
P.S. Peeps are going to comment a lot of negative stuff over here - kinda obvious - do not pay heed to it for now.
Cries in specific relief
Read Tavleen SIngh's books to get a good understanding about how they work
About 16 years ago, a particular RSS personnel commented 'India is run by 600 people', he was referring to the deep state
Now, its run by 6 people :D, i guess its deeper state ;P
Please grow up, kids.
I've friends who interned during their 6 month-long break and yes it did make a difference in their understanding of law but I don't think that it is worth it. I didn't do a thing related to law in my break and I'm quite happy with it, those 6 months were the best days of my life. I binged, I traveled and I spent time with my friends, all in all, I lived my 6 months and I would never regret it :)
Enjoy while you can, law school drains the life out of you.
I just need some last minute tips from people who have taken the exam earlier and scored well. Much appreciated!
Firms like HSA (Delhi office), S&R, Athena Legal, Majmudar and a select few others are offering online internships.
World is in 2024 already.

Outside India, other than foreign law firm newsletters, there's the FCPAblog, GIR website and the Global Anti Corruption Blog.
Book by Brian Weiss (psychology).
Sure, your court clerk's son may have seamlessly transitioned into an associate role, but let's talk about the stark reality. Not every law student comes from a well-connected background. Many of us hail from smaller towns, and interning means shelling out money for accommodation, food, and travel. Unlike your privileged court clerk's son, we can't just walk into an internship without financial considerations.
Your glorification of assessment internships conveniently ignores the fact that even stenographers and peons receive compensation for their work. Are you seriously suggesting that the research, drafting, and due diligence work carried out by final and penultimate year law students, often in unfamiliar cities, is not worthy of acknowledgment and fair remuneration?
Your simplistic advice to shed the "mantle of victimhood" and "reach for the stars" reveals a profound disconnect from the financial realities faced by many law students. It's not about personal ambition; it's about addressing the systemic barriers that perpetuate inequality within the legal profession.
If the goal is to build a truly inclusive and meritocratic legal community, it's high time to reassess the archaic stance on internships and recognize the financial strains faced by law students from smaller towns.

The firm use their services for specific purpose
They are useful and not frightfully expensive.
I used the services of Dev Ashish (Stable Investor).
But there is a list of SEBI Registered Financial Advisors in public. You can choose someone from your city. I'll share the link if I find it.
Now, to the question at hand
I'm currently an FY student at a pretty good T-2 NLU who had the opportunity to enjoy the 6-month break bestowed upon me by the Consortium with the exam being held in December.
Firstly, the 6 month break is something you'll surely reminisce about once you enter Law school. The period is a time for R&R because once you get into law school, you'll realize it's not something you can sail through without grinding. You would have countless project submissions, publications, inter/intra moots, and your end-term/mid-term examinations to worry about at the same time!
Secondly, I suggest you take up something you wished to pursue but couldn't due to time constraints imposed by CLAT/ Board Preparations. Learn a new language, or a new instrument, binge-watch movies, or catch up with old friends. You have 5 years to intern but only 6 months to do the stuff that aren't purely academic related.
Thirdly, an internship now isn't beneficial in the short or long run. A legal internship requires you to know how to read and interpret the law, this is a skill you acquire over 5 years of college life and hone throughout your professional life. Thus the stuff you do learn from the internship would more likely go over your head, never to be utilized in the near future.
If you do wish to know about the Law ( emphasis supplied on "Law") You could rather read blogs or basic articles on the same. These can shine a light on various branches or niche areas of law that you might work on once you join law school. I do not expect someone who hasn't entered law school to know fully about the defects of the Postal Rule of Communication, you know it only when you have a sufficient understanding of Contract Law and the fundamental essentials of making a contract.
Take a chill pill and relax. You have all the time to intern once you join law school. Use the break for introspection and self-reflection. You as an individual, rarely get the time to focus on your intrinsic needs and wants. If the 6 months break allows you to do the same, exploit it. You won't be at a disadvantage if you don't intern nor will you lose anything by not interning.
See the 6 months break as a reward for cracking CLAT!
LI users today: "F you Mod".
For instance, I can see this happening in smaller metro cities — Kolkata, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Chennai etc, where there would be decently big commercial companies to work with etc. I don't see this being the case with Tier 3 cities like Nagpur, Allahabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Chandigarh etc, unless you are at the very top of your field (and that generally doesn't happen without generational contacts/wealth). Other places not on the same level sound too unreal for this to begin with.
Also, I'm assuming that this is commercial/corporate litigation, but I understand that this could be in-house as well (places like ITC?). Do let us know, will help in others like plan longterm. Thank you!
Below text from Wikipedia. Interestingly, the article discusses many countries, including Pakistan, but is silent in India. Who in India can be called the Deep State? Ambani and Adani? The RSS? The IAS? JNU alumni? The Nehru family and their loyalists?
In a 1955 article in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, the realist international relations scholar Hans Morgenthau quoted others speaking about a "dual state" existing in the United States: the democratic façade of elected politicians who operate according to the law, and a hidden national security hierarchy and shadow government that operates to monitor and control the former. This has been said to be the origin of the notion of a deep state in the United States.
...
The Civil Service has been called a deep state by senior politicians. Tony Blair said: "You cannot underestimate how much they believe it's their job to actually run the country and to resist the changes put forward by people they dismiss as 'here today, gone tomorrow' politicians. They genuinely see themselves as the true guardians of the national interest, and think that their job is simply to wear you down and wait you out."...
...After the 2016 United States presidential election, deep state became much more widely used as a pejorative term with an overwhelmingly negative definition by both the Donald Trump administration and conservative-leaning media outlets.
...
Since independence, the Pakistan armed forces have always had a huge influence in the country's politics. In addition to the decades of direct rule by the military government, the military also has many constraints on the power of the elected prime ministers, and also has been accused of being a deep state.
Tum logo ko jitna trust karo uthna hi kaam Kharab karo toh daat toh padegi
@LegallyIndia would want to hear his advice again, especially in light of technological progression as mentioned in this thread and the withering of rule of law across the world, considering how academia has stood up for all of this.
Please throw some light on this. Genuinely interested.
You are truly gem of a person.
Keep it up!!
you cant
For potential recruitment, we take in only assessment interns on 3-6 months. During this period, there is still nada that the AI contributes to us - this time is used by us to analyse the AI and their personality and whether they have the very basics needed to succeed and fit in with us - honesty, desire, fire in their blood, ambition etc. Some basics are also ascertained from their research and how they can draft a one page letter for instance.
It truly does pain me to say that you have obviously wasted the best years of your life by reading putrid regurgitated garbage on this forum and others - nothing else can explain your nonsensical gatekeepers remark. My court clerks son is now an associate with me and has a bright future. Many of my juniors are first generation advocates.
It is still not too late for you to shed your mantle of victimhood and be a man and reach for the stars instead of griping like a shrew.
