Secondly, if you wish to experience excellent pedagogy, an LLM/BCL/Other specialized masters degree like the Oxford Masters in Law & Finance should appeal to you. You'd be building upon the foundations you already have of the law, instead of re-learning it. A masters degree would mean meaningful progression for you, as well as you getting to experience the academic prowess of apparently superior universities in a more meaningful way than you would with a second LLB.

As lawyers we work on multiple documents at a time. Work flow wise, windows is better, you can shuffle between all the stuff open, super conveniently. On MacOS, the work flow is not that great for multitasking, don't get me wrong, apple's hardware is anyday better than your hp dell etc, no lags etc in mac, but the UI makes multitasking super painfull.

Outlook is also better on windows than MacOS, more features, especially certain super important features like justified alignment - are not available on MacOS, imagine this, as a lawyer sending emails which are not even aligned properly. Even A0's don't make that mistake. This one point alone is reason enough for rejecting Mac tbh.

That being said, yes the fantastic build quality, long battery life, superb display, near zero lags or glitches - I do see the allure, I myself love mac, just that for my lawyer work stuff it's not a good fit. Windows is better suited to what we do.

Hi, I will starting my journey as a disputes lawyer soon. I have an offer from a decent chambers in Delhi and a decent firm in Mumbai. I am planning to opt for the Delhi Chambers because my training period will be ending soon and I will have a job in hand by June-July (As opposed to the Mumbai firm whos training period starts from june if i take it up). An alumni here, the best I can tell you is, hang in there, throw yourself in academics, moots and internships. Focus on building your CV, you can talk to some friendly professors if it gets too much.

But at the end of the day, no one is your friend there. And that is fine. That is all you have to understand and digest. Remind yourself of the reasons you are there in the first place and that is the reality not just of law schools, but if nay institution where everyone gets in after hyper competition. This notion that people are better in such institutions is a myth. Most of these places are pressure chambers, focus on getting the best out of it and building mental resilience. Being alone is not a bad thing, it can help you to get your priorities sorted.

Its not litigation its charity. No senior is here to back you or help you grow in your practice. only 10% litigators make it big all others are empty pockets. I have seen many do business side by side some even do part time teaching for revenue and one incident i remember for legal aid defence counsel junior position their were so many people with more than 10 years practice when criteria was for 0-3 years minimum that too for salary of mere 45k that too after 10 years. many quit and join corporates after years. most docs in lower courts are in marathi you need to understand them cannot 100% rely on translator.

My dear chap. You've found the best possible recipe (IMV at least) (the one where rejection from something like an MC application is less likely than with your current background) for an Indian lawyer wanting to work in the UK these days. Yes. Absolutely worth doing an LLB from a good uni (I've done it myself, though I went directly after school, without having done any previous degrees from India). Certainly better than doing an LLM - which is a path that will not work for 99 cases out of 100 (and your background indicates that you are among those 99). If your mind has already gone to LLB instead of the default "I-can-do-LLM-then-get-MC/Biglaw-job" mindset that most kids with an Indian law degree (NLU or non-NLU) who want to work abroad have, then you already have one of the key qualities needed to succeed: a gritty sense of reality. That already sets you apart from the many Indian law graduates going to the UK for an LLM with the ultimate aim of working in a UK law firm. Many of these guys are good students, but their grasp on reality is so poor that for all practical purposes, they are fantacists. You are not, which makes you, in the real world, by default smarter than most of them. Good job on that, keep it up.

As for scholarships, those are few and far between and not in very high amounts, and each uni has its individual processes for those, look them up and make relevant enquiries. Therefore, my answer would require a bit of a caveat: "absolutely worth it if you can get scholarships or have the financial amounts needed to make such a huge commitment or a mixture of both". At the uni I attended, most of the scholarships were set aside for UK students from the bottom 15 to 20% income brackets of UK households. One way that might help with scholarships is doing very well on the LNAT.

Considering you've already studied law and got good internships on your CV, you might just find that you're having an easier time of it than your mates. But be warned, the fight for first year schemes, vac schemes and TCs is going to be a huge one and very psychologically draining. Be braced for many lonely, rainy days in your student housing where your blood pressure is at an all time high, awaiting that sweet email with a "yes" after you've made loads of applications, and then suddenly you've been brought to earth with a jolt because of law firm application rejections coming in. Even for the UK LLB students with the best profiles (be they home or international), for every vac scheme offer there are three (or more) rejections. That may sound scary but abstract at this stage, but when you've done all the graft of getting through, working hard and doing well at your law studies at your UK uni, having made the financial commitments etc etc and spent all those hours drafting, re-drafting and re-re-redrafting your applications over and over again, having done mock interview practice with your mates and your uni's careers office, it feels pretty shitty to get those rejections, especially if you don't end up making all that many friends and your family is living 5000 miles away. The trouble is, you'll have to just grit your teeth and summon up the determination to come back and fight another day (application cycle) and potentially even be ready to settle for having to get on a graduate visa (often wrongly called a "PSW visa" by students and universities alike) using which you can get something like paralegal experience after your LLB before getting a TC; even with this, if you come after 1 January 2027 (likely in your case), you will get only 18 months on your graduate visa instead of the two years that my lot had when we came a few years ago. Some of this may apply a little less to you, especially given your background, than both subsets of your mates: those (British and international) who've just come out of school/whose first degree is law, and those (British and international) who've taken other degrees at university, but in non-law subjects.

In any case, make up your mind soon whether you want to do this or not. Tuition fees for international students for a UK education are gonna shoot up like you've never seen before in the coming years. The government's being a bitch regarding immigration. They may be Labour, but they are like Boris Johnson of the Conservatives in that they are fantacists. They want to, as Boris did, have their cake and eat it. That is, they want to prevent British students from paying higher tuition, therefore keeping fundamentally the model where the system would have problems if the foreign money was cut off at source. And yet they want to reduce immigration, and one way they want to do that is by trying to reduce international student numbers. The way they have found to solve this logical contradiction is by imposing a tax on the universities based on the number of international students they take, which kicks in after, I think, the first 100 international students a uni recruits. That amount was set at the last budget at £925 per student. Remember your Economics 101, done either at school or at university: a uni doesn't absorb that tax. It passes it on. To whom? Students. Take that into account before getting into this. The tax kicks in after August 2028.

Finally, regarding your question of LOR, there are plenty of students from India on LinkedIn who've done previous uni degrees in India before UK LLB. Ask them, because I am honestly not sure in your case where would be the best for you to get those from. For those like me, it was certainly school.

PS: Not sure if this applies anymore, but before I went to the UK, there was a lot of talk about how Indian students who went with Indian board qualifications like CBSE were looked down on by admissions tutors at many of the elite names you mentioned (including both Oxford and LSE). I think this is less of a problem now, but still worth keeping in mind, I would think...

1. Delhi Bar isn't as united as it was. I have very strong resentments with the current leadership, but that's separate from this issue. Anyway, look at how the decision was taken to make Saturdays working. It was only after several months that the Bar called for a strike on Saturdays.

2. Come speak to the members of the Delhi Bar to know how they really feel, and how things really here are and how most of us feel about each of the judges.

3. The current president of the Bar has represented Kejriwal previously on multiple occasions. I do not think it would be appropriate for him to make any such comments - it would appear very improper. My resentments with the Prez. are about his inability to take a stand/lack of a spine. Even then, I do find him to be a man of integrity. I do not think he would want to muddy his reputation by making any political comments.

4. Kejriwal actually was not "questioning the probity of" the judge. He said there is apprehension of bias, especially given that similar findings against him have been given in the previous cases (including Kejru's WP challenging his arrest. Apprehension of bias is not the same as questioning someone's 'probity'.

Especially when his first ground was that detailed findings were given in previous judgments saying offence was prima facie made out + on the first date it was said that impugned order is prima facie wrong. Charge/discharge anyway has to be determined at a prima facie standard - so that finding already stands given. (Sidenote: yes, yes. Technically standard of charge/discharge is "grave suspicion" - Dilawar Kurane, Sajjan Singh et al - but that's being pedantic).

Anyway, no point commenting on merits/demerits of the recusal application itself. But worthwhile to point out that seeking recusal is not automatically the same as casting aspersions on a judge.

OP here. Forgot to add the information here. I have a decent CV with Tier 1 and Tier 2 internship experiences., including callbacks and an assessment. Few paper presentations and publications.

My thought of doing a reputed foreign LLB, is for two reasons. The first one is a job at Magic Circle or Silver Circle law firms. The second one is self esteem needs (sometimes I tend to have thoughts that I have never experienced an excellent pedagogy in my college and that has made me a mediocre person. First, there are no jobs in the legal profession - what you are talking about, is sitting desk work at a place called law firm where you don't do real work. Now, the issue that haw cropped up is, they don't need people. Else they'd give ppos. They dont have vacancies? Why so? Why no vafancy? Because these desk jobs are clerical and can be done by someone who does not even know law. Here, ai is doing so. If you really want to work, and do real work and make some contribution to society, whether in the so called traditionalist way by defending peoples rights or maybe doing IP disputes, get into litigation - comss with far more respect,far more money, and no such issues

I have been in the same boat during my final year of law school. When you constantly see your friends getting placed, receiving offers, and moving ahead with their careers, it is natural to feel left behind. Slowly, that pressure starts affecting your confidence. You begin to feel demotivated, compare your journey with others, and start doubting your own abilities. You question whether you are good enough, whether you missed your chance, and whether things will ever work out for you. But the truth is, everyone’s journey moves at a different pace. Placement season can make it seem like life is a race, but it is not. Some people get opportunities early, some get them later, and many build great careers after a slow start. One phase does not define your future. Final year feels intense because everything seems urgent, but a few months or even a year later, things can look completely different.

Keep working on yourself, keep applying, keep learning, and do not let temporary delays make you believe permanent lies about yourself.

Well the issue is since we live in a civilized country, we have civil rights, and some of those rights are specific to certain groups basis biological realities. For instance, women have the right to their separate spaces, including bathrooms, locker rooms, sports leagues, prisons, etc. Hence if someone who has the appearance of a male, has all the biological attributes of a male (muscle mass, bone density, etc) and the sexual characteristics of a male, claims that he is actually a woman because he "feels" like one, and demands access to segregated spaces for women, there has to be some scientific justification for the same other than "mind your business". This is especially relevant in a poor country like ours, since while the privileged few can virtue signal from their ivory towers, the vast majority share public spaces. You're going to get top faculty, perhaps the best in the country, and the latest pedagogy. There is going to be the most academic pressure because of that very pedagogy and expectations, together with the trimester system. Student teacher ratio is low because of high intake, but improves too because of regular faculty recruitment. Campus facilities are getting to be more cramped and some crumbling infra, plus lots of construction fallout. Placement-wise, opportunities are going to reduce for all law schools, and the huge batch size here does not help, but the quality of the peers is also high.
