As per the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Mr Abhishek filed an affidavit before Lokpal in which he mentioned that he got ₹ 2.7 crore fees in 15 months post-retirement which was "119 times higher than his last drawn government salary" which was ₹ 2.26 lakhs.
"Probe so far by various agencies reveals that he gave favour to at least 16 companies while he was posted in the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade as a secretary," a senior CBI official explains.
The FIR further adds that a house in Delhi's posh Greater Kailash area was the outcome of a doubtful sudden rise in earlier investments of the family in immovable properties.

Cases like getting shouted at in front of everyone, receiving bad feedback on work product, getting reprimanded for smallest of mistakes (or even there is none) etc. are bad for anyone's morale and the person breaks down.
For basics start with Isaac Asimov's Laws of Robotics (fiction but rooted with reality)
Are you a junior or equity partner? Which tier of firm?
If you had not spent any of your earnings over the course of your career of 15 years - what would the figure be? Not counting if you invested it , assuming you just saved whatever your firm paid you in a bank account. What would your total take home be? Thought overall law firms would pay more within 15 years. Again no offence meant.
- Trilegal (it has Rahul Matthan, so of course they are the best!);
- Nishith Desai Associates (entrenched relationships with various industry associations thanks to Nishith bhai, and therefore are able to do a lot of high-level policy stuff, in addition to their practice.; BTG Advaya.
- BTG Advaya (Small team, but they do some extremely top-notch work)
- Ikigai Law (While they do a lot of marketing like Spice Route Legal, unlike SRL, their content actually have merit and strength in them. Also do a lot of policy related work for many prominent companies).
- PLR Advocates (the go-to firm for the Ministry for legislation drafting + used by several top companies for their regulatory/advisory/policy work).

Looks like you work at ICUL and are a Bhakt of the daily poster. Keep copy pasting the same comment everywhere
You assume that right wing folks who criticise your university for this stuff time and again are doing it because they are all hateful bigots- because youre incapable of imagining anyone other than yourselves complexly. Would they criticise a legal aid cell? would they criticise cleaning up biswamil? would they criticise yall going to the local trade union and working with people there? Nah. Part of what theyre criticising is that you all confuse your economic privilege for virtue. Education produces better human beings? are people who dont pay upwards of 60 lakhs to buy a degree (god knows yall arent earning it) worse than you? you think what youre doing when protesting a war thousands of miles away is more important than saving a life or building a bridge? the sheer arrogance. Values and morals produce good humans- not college degrees.
Name for me please the number of people - real people- who have received actual help from your legal aid cell that barely functions or your many centres with no impactful work. Name for me please the number of students who have been involved in cleaning up biswamil and ensuring there is infrastructure development in that area. Tell me exactly what students have done to help sodexo workers? Are they sitting on a day long hunger strike for that also? Exactly how have woke jindal students helped staff around campus? by being brats who dont have the decency of cleaning up after themselves in the cafeteria or by putting someones job at risk by daring him to confiscate the drugs youre so clearly bringing in? or by engaging in violent and disruptive behaviour in classrooms with younger professors- contract workers often much poorer than you all- and messing with them?
Oh sure theyve dug into their pocket money and given some money away to show their similarly rich friends how virtuous they are without actually doing the work of empowerment and advocacy? that sounds about right. Did yall hang out with some poor kids at the dhaba? What do you all want? If we give you a badge or a medal will you go away and stop sucking all the air and attention out of the room? will it ever be enough attention? Explain to me how youre all crazy leftists but none of you have any compunctions about participating in and encouraging drug trade that has disastrous effects within poor communities especially with kids? cause its inconvenient to what you want no?
What im talking about with the elite college liberals/ wokeists and the blue collar leftists does not actually happen in every university- you just find it comforting to say that. it does not happen in community colleges in america, and it does not happen in government universities across India. Go do delhi university, bangalore university, GLC, go see how students there work, theyre actually rooted in their environment. Even NLUs have this problem- but at least they started IDIA which actually helped people, and CDS at NALSAR did actual advocacy work for disabled people, and NLS' legal aid clinic, CWL and CSSIEP is actually doing decent work now, and NLUD has the death penalty centre which is about as good as actual work gets in this country. And students from none of those places make as big a deal about their "revolutionary" politics or their "radical leftism" as you guys do. The only reason you all get this much attention is because right jindal right wing kids use your idiocy to fuel a culture war. A culture war you want because you fancy yourselves rebels. A culture war that doesnt benefit a single poor person in this country. You would rather fight these culture wars than do anything to help someone else because the latter is hard and unglamourous and actually changing things takes being able to negotiate and work with your opponents and not just pretending youre the next che guevara because you didnt eat lunch one day.
This is a you problem. You live in an insular world where nothing matters except your self image in your chosen small community. thats not going to lead to anything revolutionary.
Please dont spout off about american politics like you know what youre talking about. Go read Batya Ungar Sargon's book if you want to learn a thing or two- honestly its bizarre. I understand why youre all so invested in america constantly- you want to move there some day, you want to be hip and cool and consume american culture, and you dont want to be shamed for it while youre in india so you will imitate positions of woke american college students- just be freaking honest about it. Ambition isnt a bad thing if you actually work for it. admit it to yourselves at least. Dont pretend its making you a better person or a smarter person because you can spout really basic takes about american politics.
Please stop assuming the rest of us buy your nonsense ya. The right wing sees you for what you are-rich kids who want attention, and the left does too- youre not anyones comrade. I'm willing to bet yall dont know where the nearest trade union office is or know the name of a single worker working in any of the factories in sonipat. We're not asking you to be perfect- stop pretending that asking for a modicum of self awareness and humility is asking for perfection. I am angry and cynical and resentful- its hard not to be after seeing this crap year in and year out- that doesnt make anything I say invalid.
This leaves only a handful of his contemporaries who are still alive and practicing.
Given that this would perhaps be the last generation of legendary lawyers who rose up to this stature, I would like the audience to contribute with any of their anecdotes (good, bad, and ugly) which make these legends unique amongst the countless many.
The thread is not limited to celebrating life of Mr. Fali alone.
Request trolls and timepassers to stay away for the sake of creating one good trail of a conversation. Thanks.
Is this the correct preference order in your opinion? Please be unbiased if possible. Also don't bother to mention other law colleges.
1. Raag Yadav stands out as one of the finest professors I've encountered thus far. His charm and wit, coupled with engaging hands-on experiences in his Legal Methods class, made a lasting impression. I recall assignments that taught us to navigate resources like Manupatra and SCC, comprehend judgments, utilize the library effectively, and even included sessions conducted within the library where we were instructed on research techniques.
2. Although not an NLS alum, Rahul Hemrajani was exceptional. His captivating engagement and eloquence left me in awe. In a trimester that included IP Law and Family Law, he sparked discussions on Jurisprudence and legal philosophy among students post-classes. Undoubtedly, a highly effective teacher.
3. Arul George Scaria, clearly an authority in IP Laws. While I found his teaching methodology somewhat dull, completing assignments under him was exceptionally beneficial. His influence has certainly cultivated a deep appreciation for IP Laws within me.
4. Mihir Naniwadekar, currently a practicing advocate in Mumbai, played a pivotal role in reigniting my passion for the law, (whoch I lost in my 1st year) for which I am forever grateful. Despite not being a professor, he conducted enjoyable mooting exercises and problem-solving sessions in class. Unfortunately he is not doing well in terms of his health.
5. Mrinal Satish: Need I say more?

Even SAM, AZB bills more than this. Trilegal bills far more than SAM, CAM etc. Trilegal's hourly rates are the highest in industry.
Imagine an accused takes the defense that they have murdered the lover of their ex because the same has happened many times elsewhere.

But yes, it seems a good number to retire. Given the sum, I am assuming you are from one of the premier law firms, so you can just choose to go solo and do a little bit of advisory, just to keep affording the foreign trips once a year. But that aside, this sum is effective enough to hang up the boots.
Whoever you are, cheers on achieving this milestone. May you have a wonderful time ahead :)
Use and throw
- is it their connections
- do they have other worldly legal acumen
What is it that sets them apart .
(a) you stay with them and move towns as and when they get posted; and typically, you will get posted every 2-3 years in the IAF and usually the postings are better than the army (ie not in places which are 2 days away from the closest road head) and they don't have a concept of field postings (ie non-family stations). All IAF postings will have internet and phone connection, unlike the army, so if you take up an in-house role which is WFH, then that is something you can work with. But you should be aware that spouses have a large role to play in the career of military officers; you can make or break your spouse's career and there are many obligations that you will have as a spouse if you live with them, obligations which you cannot decide to not be a part of if you live there; or
(b) you choose to stay in a big city and pursue your career and meet your spouse as and when they get a leave. The best city will be Delhi for this since there is enough IAF in Delhi, including Hindon in Ghaziabad, which will mean that your spouse can get posted in Delhi once or twice in their career.

Theres so much ▮▮▮ going on here.
- Socialism and welfarism are superior forms of economic governance
- Communism is bae, Marx is bae, Stiglitz is bae, Amartya Sen is bae. Capitalism is evil, Friedman, Bhagwati Reagan, Thatcher and Ayn Rand are evil.
- Identity-based reservation (over pure merit) is a good thing. That the recent SCOTUS decision in Students for Fair Admission v Harvard is wrong and should not be followed in India
- Palestine is good, Israel is evil.
- Fast-tracking citizenship for persecuted non-Muslim minorities in Muslim countries, via the CAA, is evil
- Article 370 should not have been revoked
- Modi is evil
- The farm protestors demands are justified
IMO these views arise because of the echo chamber students are exposed to: their curriculum, their faculty and social media algorithms. It's high time we introduce ideological diversity at NLUs. We need to focus on curriculum reforms, hiring faculty with centre-right views, having student clubs and reading groups that promote centre-right thought (in contrast to the Safdar Hashmi Circle at Jindal).
Let's begin with a simple example. How many law schools include the following in their first year syllabus?
- Bhagwati and Friedman's writings on free markets
- Eric Sowell's vast body of work on libertarian economics and opposition to identity politics
- Nani Palkhivala's critique of Indra Sawhney
- Nani Palkhivala's various critiques of the licence raj
- Arun Shourie's critiques of Marxist historiography
- Arghya Sengupta's book on the the colonial constitution and article on the Hindu Mahasabha's Constitution on Hindustan Free State
We have lost Gen Z. Let's at least save Gen Alpha?
- Need to improve campus infrastructure
- Need for good faculty: recruit NLU alumni, plus good guest faculty
- Need for collaboration with good foreign universities like tier 1 NLUs (QS top 50 ideally, QS top 100 at a minimum)
- Need to raise funds from private donors
- Need to stop wastage of funds on BS courses like the BSc criminology course
- Need to eminent lawyers on the governing bodies instead of obscure TMC lackeys
- Need to reach out to the alumni network
Finally, in the short-term, immediately petition the CJI for a merit-based VC appointment and the inclusion of jurists of national eminence on the selection committee, similar to what was done at NLSIU.
1. Class
2. Looks/complexion whatever you want to call it
3. Community (religious)
4. Caste (depending on definition, intra-UC was not even a consideration, but UC-SC gave some pause for concern).
This has continued into social circles at T1 law firms as well. (3) becomes as important as (2) or might even replace it, and (1) is not as dominant.
University must throw all the dogs out. Dog lovers can take a dog to their homes
T1 firms are always on the lookout to hire T2 associates with good levels of knowledge so that they can discount their experience and save some cost by hiring them as freshers while they have one year of experience.
The only partially true aspect here is that we are indeed facing a hostel shortage, for which we are planning to hire an external hostel provider.
