We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.

Thats a fault in firm structure that will probably never be fixed, which is why you have so many insecure, inadequate people constantly vying for validation from partners at first and then from white people, rich people when they become partners. And then perversely making up for it by bullying their underlings.
If you're still adamant, go to forage and do the 'internship' offered by UK law firms
Ive worked with 1 male partner who was an absolute delight. A friend, confidante, mentor and an inspiration.
1 female partner - the devil herself. 100% fit to that rich sociopath trope, with the fake laugh and the lack of recognition of others as equal human beings, the works.
2 male midlevels - one intense, one laidback. Both smart and capable and sincere with work and both very mature and calm and well spoken and not in the least toxic.
3 female midlevels - two manipulative fake ass bullies, one chill and fun one. Never felt like taking the chill one for granted, in fact worked several late nights and even all nighters on a deal with her, and looking back it was more fun than stressful. As for the other two, wish they dropped one fine day and id never have to see them again.
Youll realise that when the weakass country you wokes are creating is going to be ripe for the taking from all the Islamic cauldrons neighbouring us and waiting to pounce on us.
You aint called Andhbhakts just like that you know?
Maan lete hai SNU becomes better than NLS (let's assume).
1. What can you do?
2. What would you as a aam middle class person would have done to change it?
Nothing. Toh in chizo pe soch ke, gossip karke, information leke ya deke, kya ho jaega. It is literally out of your control and the powers that be, do not care about your or mine or LI's opinions.
Leave SNU. Beyond your college, T1, T2 sab jae tel lene. They are not coming to feed your family no matter how many times you confirm their greatness. Apna dekho.
Bina tension liye, bas lamba lamba generalization man se bol dena hai. Kahe ki Ambani ji ka net hai, kyun dimag lagae.
There is still hope that he will return.
Get out of your imaginary world and listen to both sides
Saying that I am IT cell does tells u are real andhbhakt. I just presented facts.

Furthermore, while one can extend empathy over discomfort in teaching certain topics, law is one field where BCI/UGC mandate that certain courses be taught notwithstanding student and faculty discomfort. If the Gender & Society argument is accepted, then students may go with an understanding that prostitutes are to be blamed for prostitution and not sex traffickers or pimps ; children and parents are to be blamed for child sex abuse instead of offenders ; and women are to blame for their conduct, than a rapist. This slippery slope can be extended to other courses: there was a senior faculty at JGLS who once declined to teach S. 375 and sexual offences module in IPC (Law of Crimes) classes and was educated about his obligation to teach it, notwithstanding his discomfort (discomfort comes with being a lawyer) ; a faculty teaching Company Law needs to go through deaths of whistleblowers and corporate frauds ; a faculty teaching Constitutional Law and Administrative Law needs to teach excesses during Indira Gandhi's emergency regime, including brutal deaths of political opponents. Most faculty at lower ranks do not get to choose what they want to teach: be it Jindal, be it NLSIU Bangalore, be it NUJS Kolkata ; or be it Delhi University etc. A Science Teacher in school has to teach simple anatomy and biological processes to a Class VIII-Class XII student in school, they cannot cite discomfort or disgust and not teach students about concepts like sexual intercourse, periods, primary and secondary sex organs, STIs, HIV AIDS etc.
There have been instances where JEE/NEET toppers have failed boards even though the subjects are the same for boards and JEE in contrast to how it is for CLAT.

1. What are the parameters that a junior lawyer should consider while choosing a practice area?
2. What are the challenges faced by you in your experience of switching practice areas? (Recruiters these days are not receptive to candidates looking to switch practice areas)
3. Is it stupid for someone to explore when they got what they were looking for in the first job itself?
With Muslim votes alone it's hard to win.
Will be interning there in October.
Cry about it
Suggestions are welcome for other cities as well.
Ideally, the grind pays off, but takes everything
Shame on the admin!!
The man is absolutely right. Only 5% of the country is properly educated.
I am starting my law school this year. I am also graduating this year. Can I start applying for internships before even getting into law school? Or should I just wait till law school starts? Ps. I am also an aspiring company secretary so I'm thinking of putting that knowledge to use as well. So it's not like I don't know anything about the field.
Finally, take most opinions on LI with a pinch of salt. People here give a bad rap to certain firms/teams/practice areas for obvious purposes.
All the best!
What do you think is a tier-1? The one which is considered by rankings, the one which pays well, the one which is engaged by good clients for good transactions. - Saraf ticks all the boxes.
The only caveat is that some of their practice areas are yet to be regarded as a tier 1 by rankings. But, do not think that it cannot be called a 'tier-1' firm.
Should I clean shave before day 1 at the firm? Or should I retain my beard?
Or can I keep a stubble beard or 5o clock shadow?
Just because someone has achieved accolades with their sweat, blood and tears, does not mean that it will be passed down to the students as well.
Unless and until these "foreign educated" professors bring in the foreign connection and grants,.all this will be for nothing.
The reason why Jindal is doing better than Ashoka is because Jindal professors are trying to bring in their foreign connections to Jindal students. Therefore unless SNU brings those connections, a foreign degree is foreign to the Indian education system.
Also agree with the other comment. Quality of students will decide the future. For now it's not even Tier 3 in private colleges, let alone NLUs.
It was better to have been born as man, I think. Men you are so fk privileged. you can rape, assault do anything, please don't say that we have equal rights, men never have to fear rape, being afraid of sexual assault, etc. only in rare cases I think you can be subject to the same, which is a rarity in the first place.
Kuddos, you got a license to rape and assault. good luck men!!
However, in the past 1-2 years or so, as itβs become clear that Modi will rule till 2029 and maybe even 2034, a clear shift has taken place.
- I want freedom of speech,
- Dissent is my right,
- Oh God! I am feeling suffocated with this regime,
- I hate this regime,
- Look how they are marginalizing minorities etc.
gala phaad phaad ke chillate rehte ho. Ab bhugto. Aaram se BJP ko vote do. Apna selfish fayda dekho. Aur dissent ko thank you bol ke aage badho. Varna dusri side power me aane ke 85% reservation laaga sakti hai (read about Kapoori Thakur's formula - jitni aabadi utna haq).
Also, the Microeconomics that people study was invented at MIT Economics dept. The whole field of Development Economics gets it's due, due to the efforts of Noble laureate Prof Abhijeet Banerjee and Prof Duflo of MIT Economics. Inko bol dete hai ki sir, MIT is meant for Engineering aap nikal lo aur resources mat use karo.

The point is not that you are a troll. The point is how can a Law student or a Lawyer (who are supposed to be better read, have better 360 knowledge of things than most), even for trolling, write shit like this? Dumb arguments which can be countered in a jiffy.
Aise kaise Kapil Sibbal ko haraiyega? Be a troll. Sure. But, at least don't be dumb. Ask GPT how I can counter this comment and reply. At least learn that.
Imagine the audacity of preparators to sexually harass a faculty on campus. Why was she not supported by students and admins? Why was this not reported? She had to leave the campus and take lectures only due to the trauma caused. How long will rich affluent kids perpetrate crimes and get away with it? Is this the new law.

I am currently in my 5th year and have an internship scheduled with ALMT Legal in Bangalore, specifically with their GC team. I am aiming to secure a job through the PPO route, considering I am not from a Tier-1 Law College.
Any help and suggestions would be highly appreciated.

so many downvotes lol
Blaming only the junior (first level) associates without fixing responsibility with the PA/ junior partner reflects shabbily on the practice head/ senior partner
Before the advent of law firms in India, most lawyers were borderline beggars unless they were born with a silver spoon. Now, that has changed, and there are first generation corporate lawyers like myself who amassed enough wealth on their own account to buy German luxury cars.
2. There's no such condition. I won't "repay" anything just because someone on LI comments told me to do so. Lakhs of Indians migrate to the West, good luck making everyone repay all subsidies. I have paid way more taxes than whatever subsidies the government has granted me personally.
3. Again, I do not care about 500 years of history. I care about what's happening right now. Countries like Singapore exists, that are economically strong and don't cry victim eternally because of past colonialism.
4. The actions of Indian Army in Kashmir are also quite questionable. I don't trust Jacobin, it is an extreme left source that has endorsed genocidal dictators like Stalin.
5. Modernising the army wouldn't make it less battle ready. I don't get your rant on "DEI" or whatever the fuck it means, but personally I am opposed to any kind of quota-based reservation and believe that merit, and solely merit should be the factor for any kind of selection. I also believe in stringent anti-discrimination policies against women, queer people, etc, something which India lacks.
6. You do you, and I do not care what you do in your life and how you make money, as long you aren't going out of your way to harm anyone. Same applies to me, I have the liberty to take my own life decisions. If you love India so much, feel free to stay here. No one is dragging you out of the country.

I concur with your last paragraph. Now, peace out. π³οΈ
The best course of action for review on any place is to conduct independent due diligence about the place, for instance taking to few past employees, analysing the attrition/retainer rates, looking at the deals etc.
Donβt rely on words in anonymous platform by any side, for one always gloat their story.
I have travelled to numerous North American and European countries, maybe your anecdotal accounts are different. I don't care about "countryside," neither in India or abroad, as law firms would not make me live in rural areas.
I don't care about identity imposed on the account on the involuntary grounds of being born in a certain location on Earth.
