And yes, I am not saying this as a jealous person. I come from generational wealth, which is why I can make all of these tall statements - because my net worth at birth is more than what you will have when you die. I do not mean this in a derogatory way - I mean it in a way to genuinely suggest that you will regret this later in life. Nobody thinks "I should have earned 10 more lakhs" when they die. They think "I should have been there for my daughter".
Any Tier 1 firms hiring for Disputes practice in the new financial year? Please help out a job seeker. I have 5 years of PQE. Any leads to apply is appreciated.
Thanks.
Anybody can learn it by watching others
Even a law degree is sometimes not required much.
NLS, NALSAR, NUJS, NLUJ, GNLU, NLIU
Thanks in advance !!!
So the crux is, Delhi over any other city anyday.
Good Luck Mate.
A possible solution for you would be to take both the Class 12 exam (all subjects) again and CLAT again. But then it will mean a gap year and again managing the workload of both exams.
Check it out.
Your challenge will be to take instructions from people younger than you. Hopefully they are respectful and you figure out a way of dealing with it. Advice would be to find some one in their late 40s or 50s/60s as a boss.
Having said that, I dont have a lot of cash or financial backup to begin with. I am surving on rent here and I am unmarried. I take care of my mother with rent and fees generated by some matters here and there.
Can someone from Delhi help me plan a career in litigation in Delhi ? How is rent ? How is pay ? How much will a chamber in Delhi HC pay ? Is it foolish to think about moving from here to there ?
Foreign policy looks like its made by a left college kid lol
They are talking about economy but dont realise if they cancel ties wwith usa out economy will not be good but btw out economy is good going under current govt and only a fool will vote commie
Luckily they will either be replaced by BJP or congress in coming years
Total ccp puppet and brainless party
Legally india has a lot of their vote bank
All the best for your interview
Shouting "lal salam" on streets wont get you that moolah required to buy the Sony 400mm f2.8, but helping capitalists will.
Law Firms- they are more interested in advisory and structuring than litigation. So if you want a steady income from day one and donβt mind doing advisory, then this is for you
Litigation- no steady income for the first 4-5 years. Have to grind it out. But if everything goes well, you will catch up with your friends in law firms in 12 years
I am a TLC graduate, currently working in a T1 in Bangalore.
I was completely disheartened with my CLAT results and my parents made me join a private college in Bangalore.
I didn't feel like doing anything, missed classes, deadlines, didn't appear for all my exams(we had this criteria that we had to pass 2 papers to get promoted, so just used to do that).
But in my third year, I realised I needed to seek help. After a lot of sessions with a psychologist, she referred me to a psychiatrist.
I was diagnosed with ADHD towards the end of third year.
Started taking meds and maintaining a healthier lifestyle. Got my shit in order.
Cleared all my backs(Read:18), by the end of 9th semester. Used to be conscious about things like when I am procrastinating and shit. Helped a lot when I held myself accountable for stuff.
Now I take my meds only when I think that I'll need it to get my shit in order or I might procrastinate.
Else I raw-dog the assignment, as I am hyper-focused when the deadlines are near.
It's a superpower, not everyone can tame it.
My two cents to those voting the first time. Please put in the effort to know the candidates for your constituency. Their governance track record should hold precedence over everything else. Then move to the manifestos. Filter out the ideology related mumbo jumbo and see which party has a governance plan that serves your interests first and then the interest of others. If the candidates visit your home/ neighbourhood to pitch for your vote and there's confusion on which candidate to pick on the basis of the aforementioned criteria, take the trouble of asking them questions and pick the candidate who presents a answer that's rooted in earnest and common sense. Don't get swayed by BS. As lawyers, your BS filter should be better than your peers. Remember, the politician is a "service provider". Unapologetically, pick one the same way you choose a SIM card/ cellular service provider. There has been serious horse trading across political lines. These rogues don't have an ideology themselves; ideology is just trope for them to mobilise support. The ideology pitch is therefore bull π©.
Interned at T1 law firms in B&F, PE/VC and IP teams. Also, interned at various law offices including couple of Sr. Adv. and many more.
Now with no job offer and no upcoming internship, it feels like I am sliding into a well and very swiftly. Not able to decide even what my next step should be. HIGHLY DEPRESSED!
PLEASE ADVICE!!!
Yes I have anxiety coupled with ADHD and was also treated for depression a few years back (not sure if it went away fully though). Coping with anxiety has been a hit and a miss. In crunch situations I take anxiety meds. Otherwise I just ride out. Thankfully anxiety attacks are not as bad these days (and they were never as bad as panic attacks).
BJP voter base = 20% Solid Hindutva Vote + 20% Modi Vote (these people don't vote BJP they only care for Modi) + 3-5% Miscellaneous, only the miscellaneous is up for grabs. 40%, in any case, is enough to win the election. The day Modi leaves, the BJP vote will come down to 30%, and then Congress can dream of coming back to power.
Aap 3 year LLB wale hai kya?
How do you go about your investments? What's your age and how much money you've been able to save? How have you allocated your assets?
PS: I completely understand if you did not do well in CLAT, the exam is not everyoneβs cup of tea but donβt go on arguing why the best NLU through that exam is bad and not good enough for you.
Category 2: For careers in law firms, companies AND ALSO certain NGOs and academia.
So category 2 is obviously better.
If you look at the secretaries who retired in late 80s and early 90s many of them were inducted into the service, so were good, some were bad and some were terrible. There are certain locations in Delhi where you would find houses build by these bureaucrats which now are worth more than 50-70 crores, on little enquiry you will come to know that the land was allotted to them when DDA was formed at pittance. Many of their sons and daughters inter married and have one child in the civil services, one in judiciary, one in export business and one in property. Just like the landed gentry of 17th century England these families have tentacles in all the vital courses of the state. Central civil services has been the tool of preserving the generational wealth of certain ashrafiyas around Delhi. There was a thread on LI on the deep state, these ashrafiyas just a km away from LBZ are the true deep state.
Due to this, I think while I might have the skills but I feel like I lack the practice of writing and publishing and the ability to make mistakes that come as a law student. Idk if you can understand, itβs just that now I feel like I have to do it for the first time as a practicing advocate, and it is intimidating ?
Where do people publish as a law graduate to seem serious (not student blogs)
have a look at what PK thinks about higher bureaucracy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Uq0y71yr6A
I do not have very good grade, from a maybe tier 2 college (pvt). 7.4/10
If I get clerkship opportunity, which universities (UK US) can I possibly get in, with such grades?
More importantly, how much would an LLM matter for litigation with the changing landscape.
Honestly, though, has the landscape even changed?
Most of these βsuper seniorβ, the famous ones, have had their degrees from abroad. Be it Sibal, Singhvi, or whoever else. And of much before them, all the founding members of India who were lawyer ofc, although out of necessity i guess
I havenβt done many good internships - at least not at places where I would like to work at.
Owing to this, I am unsure as to which chamber to join?
I graduated in 2023, but spent (read: wasted) time in preparing for judiciary, and now wish to join a good chamber. However I have no idea how to gauge which chamber is good
I feel that rather than the rate, what people should complain about is the quality of service and the pendency of cases. For example, there are lawyers charging 10-20 L without reading briefs. The junior does everything. The show up in court for 2 mins and the judge gives an adjournment. The case drags on for ages. I would prefer that you charge 50L for 3 hearings with the guarantee that the case will be decided after these 3 hearings.
Competition law and it law should be made compulsory .
