Law focuses on learning rules and procedures within a competitive environment, whereas an MBA will challenge you to apply simple, effective rules across various aspects of life and work. This teaches you to think broadly and work collaboratively, skills that are crucial in any business setting. This is not something which comes easy to lawyers and the more you be a lawyer in a law firm, the more difficult this transition will take.
However, if you want to make your MBA experience truly enriching, consider diving into subjects like accounting and finance, which are fundamental to understanding the language of business. Additionally, running your own business, even on a small scale, can provide invaluable real-world experience that enhances your learning in an MBA program.
Before you decide, it's crucial to reflect deeply on why you want to pursue an MBA. Understanding your core motivations will help you determine if this degree aligns with your professional goals. Once clear, choose a business school that aligns with your learning approach and where you aspire to relocate and work.
Rather than looking for a specific area of law that might prepare you for an MBA, focus directly on gaining experiences that align with your interest in business. As Warren Buffet suggests, align your actions closely with your goals to make the most of your time and efforts.
Reflecting on my personal experience, completing my MBA over a decade ago significantly changed my perspective, enabling me to integrate a business viewpoint in all my professional endeavours. This shift might well be something you find equally transformative, should you decide to proceed with an MBA. Speak to lawyers who have done an MBA to get the right insight. No blogs or posts here can serve that purpose.
All the best with your future plans.
No really, give me like even 2 crore and I will make exponentially more out of my life than you (if youโre someone born to privilege) will.
Donโt compare โstrugglesโ of privilege vs actual struggle.
Don't jump ship whenever "possible" since it reflects badly on your profile as someone who will leave the job quickly. Leave only when you have a serious possiblity of getting into a tier 1/2 firm.
Experience always improves chances of success, its just the start that's tough.

What was supposed to be a celebratory dinner at a deanโs home for graduating UC Berkeley law students on Tuesday turned into an angry confrontation over the Israel-Hamas war, free speech and accusations of anti-Muslim and anti-Jewish hatred.
Several dozen law school students were invited to the Oakland home of School of Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky and his wife, law school professor Catherine Fisk, for the first of three dinners they planned to host. The event, which took place in the coupleโs backyard garden with white-cloth-covered tables and students seated among lemon trees, was to recognize the work of law students and provide an opportunity to enjoy casual time with the two prominent professors.
But the dinner quickly devolved after a Palestinian American law student who was invited stood up in front of guests and attempted to give a speech about Palestinians dying in Gaza and her desire for the university to divest from corporations involved in Israelโs war and its occupation and blockade of Palestinian lands.
Chemerinsky approached the student with his arms folded and shouted at her: โPlease leave. No. Please leave. Please leave.โ Fisk grabbed away the studentโs microphone, while saying, โIt is not your house. It is my house. And I want you to leave.โ
The student who spoke, Malak Afaneh, said that Fisk assaulted her and that her free speech rights were denied.
Chemerinsky, who is Jewish, says that the incident is the latest in antisemitic attacks on him and that free speech does not extend to his home. The university, which has been embroiled in months of protests over the Israel-Hamas war, is standing behind the dean.
โI am appalled and deeply disturbed by what occurred at Dean Chemerinskyโs home last night,โ UC Berkeley Chancellor Carol Christ said in a statement. โI have been in touch with him to offer my support and sympathy. While our support for free speech is unwavering, we cannot condone using a social occasion at a personโs private residence as a platform for protest.โ
In an interview, University of California President Michael Drake called the incident โvery unfortunate.โ
UC Board of Regents Chair Rich Leib said he condemned the studentโs actions and called it โdeplorable.... The individuals that targeted this event did so simply because it was hosted by a dean who is Jewish. These actions were antisemitic, threatening, and do not reflect the values of this university.โ

Fortunately, I have digital copies of the updated mark sheet on DigiLocker and the CISCE website. However, I lack a printed copy which has to be given by CISCE Board with the corrected History marks. I've reached out to NLU Nagpur for clarification, but haven't received a response.
What steps should I take in this situation? Should I wait for the updated mark sheet, or use the current one for admission? Will digital copies be acceptable, or must I provide a printed version? Any guidance on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
I have asked few seniors of NLU nagpur they have said it's okay but asked to keep a soft copy of updated marksheet with me.

In terms of specialisation, depends on what kind of law you are practising. Finance works well with financial law, tech works well with IP and cyber law etc.

Firms were never really on a freeze for '25, don't rely on LIs posts saying the hiring market is down. It is for engineers but for law it seems stable atm

At the beginning stages of my research for this. Any advice in general with respect to what I should be looking at, or what I should be doing would be much appreciated.

He is not a big deal unless you are an avid social media user and consume politics from social media
- Sonia Gandhi (highest qualification in affidavit given as Lennon Cook School, an English-language teaching centre in the UK)
- Abhishek Banerjee (highest qualification in affidavit given as undergrad course from IIPM, which has been derecognised by courts)
- Tejaswi Yadav (didn't complete school)
- Priyank Kharge (12th pass and certificate computer course, which is not the same as a university degree)
If you are an aspirant who is willing to leave an NLS/ NLUD/ Nalsar for JGLS, I am sure many other aspirants would be happy with your choice.
Personally no hate to people who have such background, obviously if I had such backing I would have also utilized it. But still my brain always get thinking how my life would be much easier if I even get 1% of the opportunities that they can afford.
Coming to personal cases, I agree, they do personal cases.
when do you get the letter tho?
Uncle ji everyone pays tax. In the current GST regime wheat, rice, sugar and dairy are taxed. Finding someone who does not consume all these four products is next to impossible.Uncle ji are all universities made equal? Why not just the INIs? Why not just JNU, the best ranked Uni in India?
Uncle ji, your whole idea of India being a developed country does not envision holistic and inclusive development. You only want better services for yourself while leeching off the guards, and maids, and factory workers, and sabziwallas.
Also, just a crazy scenario... you know.... totally not what happened in France and USA... so suppose we introduce these atrociously backward thinking stoneage oogabooga voting 'reforms' that you are proposing, in the same manner as you would, to exclude certain groups. Corporations and Income tax payers (https://theprint.in/economy/more-indians-filing-tax-returns-but-only-1-2-of-population-actually-pays-income-tax-shows-govt-data/1686818/) get all the representation. Well you have in effect created a somewhat modern feudalism. The representatives have no incentive to work towards the betterment of ones they do not represent. More than 95% percent population who also make bulk of the agricultural and industrial and in general blue collar workers are left without any representation or any policies of betterment or any access to a social ladder. What do you think is gonna happen? Be a little imaginative.
Every Uncle at the chai ki tapri thinks he can solve our nation's problems. Stop consuming what the capitalist masters want you to consume. 'Afeem' phhookna band karo. Look at how much of the budget is being allocated to education, health, public transport. 3rd largest economy, great, shabash, but also do not forget a population comparable to 3x of USA being dependent free food grains just to survive.
TLDR: Stop drinking elitist koolaid. It ain't that deep.
Looking from a tax practise PoV, especially advisory/ consultancy.
Thanks!

Am I missing something? Is he really that big a deal? I mean, why not read the Hindu or EPW if you want critiques of Modi?
Of course, I have made a lot of mistakes in my life and had to learn a lot in both areas of my life - specially personal life ofc.
Also, I went to a uni which was predominantly right I think โฆ so.
1. NLU kids belong to either the privileged middle-class or privileged rich class (aka General category) or the non-privileged middle class or non-privileged rich class (aka SC/ST/OBC categories).
2. The first category NLU kids are naturally BJP-inclined. These NLU kids โartificiallyโ get into leftism just to be trendy or impress girls. They revert to being BJP supporters after graduating.
2. A few such NLU kids do โgenuinelyโ become left, because they are introduced to left-wing literature in college and have never read such literature before (indeed, they may not even have read ANY books before, being hooked onto Netflix and Instagram). However, these โgenuineโ leftists also gradually change course after joining the private sector and being sucked into the capitalist ecosystem.
3. However, I think NLU kids from the second category are truly genuinely left-leaning. They are not financially poor, and some of them may even be multimillionaires, but they are still non-privileged. Hence, they support the Congress.
Genuine question, in no bad faith, really want to know if it's true.
