I simple wanted a review of their PhD program ?
I am a non-jrf student, and I am currently working in litigation. I wish to join academia. Is the PhD process fair ? I am not worried about the written, as I feel I'll clear that easily. I am more worried about the biasness in the interview. Can anyone from a non-nlu or non-nluD candidate help out ?!
Also I literally just gave you a first person account of receiving the offer, why are you coping with "no one has heard back", bud they have, just you haven't.
In my opinion you should avoid discussing political views and should kept within yourself . you just observe other people thoughts and try to analyze in your mind internally and try to chose your group wisely on your observation .
Atleast put the name of the firm man. Ye bhi bataana padega kya ab?
Thank you!
Are things really that bad?
Along with this, details regarding compensation as well what is the best way to approach to apply would be really helpful!
Thanks in advance.

If 1st is a tier 2 (argus, indus, etc) and the 2nd expected offer is a proper tier 1 (excluding saraf), you might have to consider and take a call on your circumstances (reasonable possibility of offer, rank etc). But if the retainer is upwards of 14L, just take it.
I've been actively applying for jobs on every platform I can think of—Naukri, law firm websites, LinkedIn, and more. Although I come from a Tier 2 law school, I have a strong resume. Still, despite my efforts over the past 1-2 months, I’m struggling to land a job in a corporate law firm.
The offers I’ve received so far are either for in-house positions or companies with limited growth opportunities and demanding massive shifts.
I am genuinely passionate about working in a corporate law firm, but nothing seems to be working out. Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice on breaking into the corporate law sector?
Anyways if you can’t shift your business to NYC I would any day prefer living on golf course road. But then that’s just me.
Let's wait and see...
How many of your agree ? Since I have no interest in any particular area, how do I choose a specialisation ? How did you choose yours ? Did you have generalization in UG or l even in your masters ? What's your perspective on this ?
after trying a lot. But there will be a vacation towards the end of December for new years. I’m in final year and I really want to try the best to convert it from my end. But I fear that with vacations it’s not the best month for a firm to get to assess me. Should I be concerned about this ?
Directly pursuing litigation would be a difficult choice financially. You can try interning with a corporate team as well as a disputes team (especially one that deals with white collar crimes) in smaller firms. This will maybe give you some perspective and help you make a more informed choice.
Since you're still in your second year, talking to seniors who have interned with such teams or have secured jobs in such teams will be immensely helpful. If you are in a good college, have good grades (as you said), and try your best, you can secure internships in corp and disputes team of smaller firms in your third year.
Afterwards you can try to get an assessment internship in the practice area of your liking in a tier 2 or tier 1 firm and work your way to an offer maybe. I know it is not as easy at sounds, but talking to good seniors (preferebly those who are similarly placed) can be very helpful.
Making it to a job opportunity in a team working in general corporate or related areas is considered slightly easier so you can keep that in consideration too. Though I am not aware about how easily can you switch your practice area later.
I hope you make it to the job of your liking. All the best.
Coming to the question, well getting debarred from lack of attendence , the consequences are not bad as getting debarred from malpractices or mis conduct. It's just what you do from now that matters.
As for environment, note that they expect you to work hard. Every corporate lawyer worth their salt knows that they do not shit as A0-A3. You are expected to observe, learn and absorb. By time, the assignments will take less time and you'll be able to compartmentalize work and life unless of course, there is some urgent work.
Any impact on those wishing to migrate to the US?
If Trump wins, will his anti-woke agenda reduce funding for careers in human rights?
Can someone state what the pay for the Disputes teams in T1 firms in Delhi for an A3? Moving from a T2 law firm. Need legit leads and numbers.
Specifically looking for - Trilegal, AZB, SAM, CAM, Nishith Desai, Khaitan, JSA, S&R, Argus.
Thanks.
Could you please confirm if the NALSAR peeps interned w the Corp Teams in June or July this year? Thanks!
I would suggest on a weekend, you just play around and figure out your own automated models and templates. It will go a long way in hasten your research abilities.
We are fifth years in NLUJ, developing our own model where it will use SCC, manu, casemine etc., to give you the output, something similar to Thomson Router's Co-Counsel (as it is not suited for India yet) and give you the notes in the kind of research we do at firms as associates via the open source 70B model.
DM NLUJ Tech Club, if you wanna know more

Fact is, the top engineers (IIT, BITS etc.) have cleared a much more rigorous and difficult entrance exam compared to NLU students. Their aptitude and skills are compensated accordingly.

Any good teams with good partners to aim for at CAM Mumbai??
“led by authority, or adopts, like the generality of the world, the side to which he feels most inclination. Nor is it enough that he should hear the arguments of adversaries from his own teachers, presented as they state them, and accompanied by what they offer as refutations. That is not the way to do justice to the arguments, or bring them into real contact with his own mind. He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them; who defend them in earnest, and do their very utmost for them. He must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form; he must feel the whole force of the difficulty which the true view of the subject has to encounter and dispose of; else he will never really possess himself of the portion of truth which meets and removes that difficulty. Ninety-nine in a hundred of what are called educated men are in this condition; even of those who can argue fluently for their opinions. Their conclusion may be true, but it might be false for anything they know: they have never thrown themselves into the mental position of those who think differently from them, and considered what such persons may have to say; and consequently they do not, in any proper sense of the word, know the doctrine which they themselves profess. They do
“not know those parts of it which explain and justify the remainder; the considerations which show that a fact which seemingly conflicts with another is reconcilable with it, or that, of two apparently strong reasons, one and not the other ought to be preferred. All that part of the truth which turns the scale, and decides the judgment of a completely informed mind, they are strangers to; nor is it ever really known, but to those who have attended equally and impartially to both sides, and endeavoured to see the reasons of both in the strongest light. So essential is this discipline to a real understanding of moral and human subjects, that if opponents of all important truths do not exist, it is indispensable to imagine them, and supply them with the strongest arguments which the most skilful devil's advocate can conjure up.”

State NLUs face the exact same situation.
1. Too many NLUs in the country, and the numbers keep growing
2. Completely focussed on teaching and UG programs
3. Research is incidental, treated as a cost center
4. Virtually no contribution to the country's legal intellectual ecosystem
5. Acting as glorified placement agencies
6. Zero differentiation between NLUs
7. Increasing intakes and fees of the UG programs to sustain
