I am first gen,so got no connections in legal fraternity as well and got to know that for landing a good job u need good grades or good connections and I got none of the two.
So I am pretty worried about my future as a whole, was always an academically bright student but I have failed to perform that well here and also feel pretty left out for the above mentioned reasons.
Kindly do suggest me some course of actions as I don't want to end up like a failure and I am willing to make amends as well for the same.
Edit :- mods last post was incomplete and got posted randomly cuz of the glitch,so kindly approve this post.
Man by then, the toppers without any idea of blue chip practices would have gotten placed ffs.
*Symbiosis "(International)" Deemed University
* OP Jindal "Global" University
So, please make logical Statements! IIULER does not have even a single Foreign/International Faculty! It's does not have even a Single Remote Database! It's a Private University with high fees! How can you call it's the esteemed International University? How could you state it higher than NLUs?
So, please don't make mere statements to confuse law aspirants and students. I am always stating with evidence/legislation and Gazette Notification from official government websites. I request you to please share the governmental documents/evidence which depicts that "the process for changing IIULER Goa into NLU Goa has started!" - Don't make fake statements! Know the law and be prudent before blabbering!
Iβm a law grad currently without a job so Iβm tryin to figure out if this is worth it or just another cash grab. Has anyone here worked with them before and are they legit, and do they actually help with internships or placements?
Just a Non-nlu kid with no contacts whose job worries have set in.

If its a corp job that you are looking for, understand that the market is super shitty this year and its not your fault. Mostly everyone is looking for people with atleast PQE of 1 year. However, you can apply to startups or even consulting companies as a part of their M&A strategy team. You can try applying to investment banking firms as well if you have sufficient knowledge about VC funding and PE.
Connect with the partners you interned with for an LOR or a letter of referral and attach that to your CV while sending out your application. If you want to work with firms, apply to Lexygen, Boolean Legal, Anagram, ThinkLaw, these are boutique law firms and they might consider hiring. Wait for the end of the year and if things still dont work out, go for an MBA or inhouse jobs. Sending cold emails do help to an extent, however, receiving no or generic responses has been the trend this year. Try contacting the PA or secretary of the partner (my friend did that and now she is a paralegal at CAM). Lastly, keep following up once in every 2 weeks. Few firms you can apply to for corp jobs-
-Sirius Legal, Mumbai
-SPN legal Advisors, Delhi
-Manichengappa & Mathur,Bangalore (Send your application to Principal Associate, Meher)
-Rajaram Legal, Mumbai
-HS Law & Associates, Chennai
-JSA, Mumbai (DCM Team, particularly, Arko & Madhurima Mukherjee's team), even if you dont have internships in Cap Marks, read up on it, CAM has a primer on the same (2nd edition), v helpful for concept building for freshers.
(These are mostly boutique firms and do send out fairly consistent replies)
Hope this helps! Dont lose hope, something will come up eventually!
Careful kid, youβll get cancelled, because the NLU kids hate to admit that the BA component of the BALLB is pointless!
We need to stop prioritising silly things and woke issues, and instead prioritise governance issues.
IIULER wale aage badhte rahenge
1. All the comments encouraging the kid should be listened to carefully and the advice of the authors of those taken on board.
2. Those comments are the best of Legally India. From time to time, this best side of this site is seen, which is why I will keep coming back. So nice to see that not everyone commenting on this forum is out to do a hitjob on one or more of the usual suspects!
Having worked across multiple law firms, and now reaching a very senior level. Iβve observed the pitfalls of joining small boutique practices based on their flashy and appealing advertisementsβoften in the form of LinkedIn posts by some partners or even managing partners of these so-called βlaw firmsβ. Many of these places claim to offer a better work-life balance, decent pay, and a vibrant culture, typically by positioning themselves as a superior alternative to Tier 1 firms. However, the reality is often far more toxic than you might anticipate.
My message is simple: if you are considering joining a boutique firm, be alert to red flags. Watch out for exaggerated claims, repeated job postings, polished images of an ideal work culture, and promises of work-life balance, competitive pay, or flexible working arrangements. Ask yourself a critical question: if the culture is truly as great as advertised, why is there such a high turnover rate, and why are they so desperate for new hires?
Before making any decisions, speak with current and former employees to gain an honest perspective. Donβt fall for the bait of a seemingly perfect workplace.
This message is shared purely in the public interest.
Word hard, hustle and all the best.
Adios.
Further, how much does a chamber junior usually get paid under a tax lawyer (designated and non-designated). Thank you so much.
Do you want to give 60-70 hours weekly then go for law firm.
Want a relatively better WLB then in house.
This is really shocking news and an eye opener. We are celebrating law firm offers of 15-20 lakhs pa to freshers, but does it really matter when the rupee is so weak? Rent, petrol, laptops⦠everything is getting expensive. Really concerning and worrying.

Please do respond and make a solution to this unlawful and illegal inclusion!
Here's what I have till now (general tips) -
1. Work to be a part of the team, and make their life easier in all tasks.
2. Take initiative, ask for feedback and act on the feedback.
My Questions are as follows:
1. Can I take an off or is that a big no-no?
2. How do you draw the line between sucking up and being courteous?
3. How do you prepare for the internship (specifically for the transactions team)?

They will think IIULER as an NLU and a Public University! In addition to this, many websites wrongly project IIULER as a BCI Institution instead of BCI Trust - PEARL FIRST (an independent, autonomous body not under the Control/part of BCI) - All these will accumulate into greater speculations where students get decived as IIULER is a new NLU funded by the government!
So, the President of Consortium of NLUs must specify the reason/on what basis IIULER is included in their Consortium. Else, they must exclude Private Universities/Non-NLUs from the Consortium!
IIULER is a Private University under Section 2(f) of UGC Act. It was passed by the State Legislature of Goa (Goa Act No:16 of 2021) - The point is that, irrespective of who is "funding" the University, in case of all other NLUs, they are funded by particular State Governments but IIULER is a Private University funded by a Trust - So, legally, Article 12 (the ambit of State) cannot be applied in a Private Institution funded by Private personalities. I think, the Consortium of NLUs is now diluting the scope and ambit of Article 12 itself!
Another problem is that, many aspirants will get "deceived" as IIULER is an NLU/Public University since it joined in the Consortium of NLUs! It's a big matter of concern!
Is AZB Delhi-NCR hiring A0 associates for their direct tax team?
What is the selection process, direct entry or through assessment internships?
How is the work culture (if anyone has interned there)?
Please let me know
P.S - Manan, if you reading, and agree with it, please comment with a suitable emoji! hahah :):):):)
Seems like he is a tough boss because every CV from his team floats across the tier 1 Projects circuit (both in Mumbai and Delhi). Don't just look at the vacancy and apply, understand what you might be getting into. This holds true even for Khaitan, Mumbai and Trilegal, Gurgaon which bleeds talent and always hunt laterals.
second, iiuler has been created by a legislation so it passes the smell test of being a proper uni irrespective of who 'owns' it
BTW I do support the theme of your argument that consortium should be picky about who they induct, as it does reduce the amount of money that they can divide amongst members, iiuler hardly had 1000 applicants who sat for the entrance exam, so it does not bring anything to the table, instead consotium should make an exmaple out of nlud which is flouting exisiting SC judgements like varun bhagat (which led to the creation of CLAT)
They mostly do very niche work, mostly projects and infrastructure and some general corporate.
1) Clause 1.1.13 - "IIULER Goa cannot become a Member Institution since it is not a National Law University (NLU)" - How can IIULER become an NLU? IIULER being a Private University established under Section 2(f) of UGC Act through the Statute of Goa Legislature (Goa Act No. 16 of 2021) will not come under the banner of National Law University (NLU). Moreover, while all other NLUs which are "state-funded universities," IIULER is funded and run by BCI Trust - PEARL FIRST which is an independent, autonomous body that is not a part/under the control of Bar Council of India.
2) Clause 1.1.13 - Being a non-NLU, how can IIULER join in the Consortium of NLUs in accordance with the said Bye-Laws?
3) Clause 1.1.13 - When did IIULER Goa pay the subscription fees and submitted a written request to the Consortium of NLUs for admitting them to the consortium? (Detailed Press Release of the admission of NLU, Prayagraj was listed in the Consortium website but details of IIULER is not published such as the meeting held for adding IIULER to the consortium, subscription fees paid by IIULER and the application/request submitted by IIULER)
4) Violation of Clause 1.1.14 - IIULER does not come under the meaning and scope of NLUs
5) The date, details and quorum of the meeting held for admitting IIULER Goa to the Consortium of NLUs is not published, which is against the said Bye-Law?
6) Violation of Clause 15.1 - Membership to the Society shall be open to all NLUs established by Central or State Legislation - IIULER is not established as an NLU by any Central or State Legislation but was established as a Private University under Section 2(f) of UGC Act through the State of Goa Legislature (Goa Act No.16 of 2021)
7) Where is the submitted documents and reports enshrined from Clause 15.2.1 to Clause 15.2.4 in the said Bye-Laws which prescribe IIULER Goa as an NLU who applies for getting admitted into the Consortium of NLUs?
8) Clause 15.6 - Since IIULER is not an NLU, how can they pay subscription fees (if paid so), prescribed by the Executive Committee (Only an NLU Applicant can pay the said fees as per the Bye-Law)?
9) Clause 15.8 - Being a non-NLU as per the Bye-Law, how can the details of IIULER Goa be entered into the Register of Members?
*Readers are advised to Cross-Check the same by referring to the Bye-Laws available in the website of CLAT 2025 and Consortium of NLUs
