We want LI to be one of the friendliest places on the internet, where lawyers and law students help each other with their career related queries and occasionally discuss other stuff that might affect their lives too. In other words:
1. Be kind, respectful and helpful to each other.
2. Be bona fide, truthful, genuine and curious.
3. Assume the best intention of others.
Therefore, in using the site, you must agree to do your best to uphold these community guidelines.
Note that what you find here is written and moderated by anonymous people on the internet.
Therefore everything you read here is very likely unverified, rumour, speculation and/or downright false.
In continuing to read anything here, you must therefore agree not to take anything you read here as factual and that you will exercise due caution, diligence and common sense before acting on any information you may come across here.
You also agree to report any inaccurate or malicious comments with the buttons. Moderators take action within 24 hours, as required and appropriate under law.
Our full terms and conditions apply too.
Do you solemnly agree to all of the above?
I also hope you haven't been sleeping under a rock and aren't think that UK law schools can be counted as "EU colleges". If you have, then there is little that can be done to help you.
Also how much does Saikrishna and Associates, Anand and Anand, Singh and Singh, Inttl Advocare, SCIP, IRA Law, Mason and Associates pay their IP associates?
Isnโt there merit in staying in the firm since the tie up was happening?
With the BCIโs new rules such partnerships are only going to become more common place. So then what would be the reason for senior attorneys to move on.

Due to the lower pay, teams make money by doing more work and handling more opinions, etc, so you end up having to do more work than people who already have a bad work-life balance, so imagine working 80 hours a week, which can hit about 12 hours daily, including Sundays.
It just leads to major burnout because more work, less pay than your peers plus after all this it would be easy if your partner understood when you needed a bit of time for personal matters or help you learn or treat you respectfully which also does not happen, its not as simple as partner being bad, it's more the boring work, less pay, more hours plus the not so ideal treatment from your bosses and the mid level team not just purely the partner.

1. Came to campus when 2022 protest was at its peak - so we thought college is all play no work - and mind you, we were all ambitious, but the environment in 2022 was so so chaotic that people got so disillusioned w HNLU, a lot of them actually took CLAT 2022 December attempt and ran for their lives (livelihoods, rather)- so yes for most, the "gap year" was actually a gap year - and when that didn't work out, the CGPA system makes it all the more difficult to bring your rank up - combined with the "culture" spoken about elsewhere on this thread, ones with low ranks had already mentally clocked out - or were overly anxious about their rank dropping further so never really took up papers or moots
2. Slew of proctos for involvement in the protests (which our senior batches literally forced us to join by bashing our doors down - we had 0 free will, we were made a part of class walkouts, and asked to bunk classes by seniors who assured we wouldn't face attendance issues - but oh well we did)
3. โฎโฎโฎ
4. And the general admin cracking down on the students post protests, where the chaos of first sem suddenly became over cautious tiptoeing around rules
5. The way profs lashed out at us because the same impression that OP has about BO'27 being "radio silent" and "having taken a gap year without leaving campus" - had become a prejudice in profs' heads - way too many instances of arbitrary use of proctos to silence genuine instances of disagreement, halting publishing of results over unpaid fines for proctorial orders that have been appealed (yes, there's an appellate mechanism, but you cant see results unless you pay the fine imposed by the order you just appealed using the said appellate mechanism - PNJ out the window)
HNLU might be on its way to make a proper comeback but there are deeper issues that never see the light of the day that the admin has to sort first before we can dream of making it back to T-1(A) or whatever it was before the downfall.
Ameya is one such partner who argues himself before the BHC and NCLT sometimes, however there is a lot of hierarchy there in the team. The work culture is nice, however long working hours one need to put. No scene of PPOs as of now.
Nitesh's team is vast (35 people), and he is the star partner of Trilegal Mumbai's dispute. Great work of Arbitration is there, and generally hires after providing long term assessment. Team bonding is tough due to the no. of people.
Rajendra is the head of litigation of AZB Mumbai. To be honest, the work there is great, especially the clients and quality they have got. But the working hours โฎโฎโฎ, โฎโฎโฎ. But again, the SEBI related work is really good.

> This represents a natural evolution for CMS and INDUSLAW, combining complementary strengths and working styles. It will enable CMS to deliver seamlessly coordinated, complex cross-border legal services. It marks a significant milestone in CMSโs global growth strategy, enhancing its capabilities in one of the worldโs most dynamic and rapidly expanding legal markets.

In line with the CMS model, INDUSLAW remains an independent law firm under the CMS brand.

This reflects our shared vision to offer effective and world class legal solutions with global perspectives. While we will continue on our journey as a leading full-service Indian law firm delivering exceptional client service and thought leadership, we now also enjoy the support of CMS to bring to the table the ability to offer a coordinated global offering for our clients. We look forward to driving growth, innovation and collaboration across borders.โ

Attrition otherwise takes place only for shifts to T1, which is usual for any other T2 firm.

1. fail CLAT and not get into NLS (despite the "insanely large batch sizes"); or
2. get into NLS but failed to get the magic circle training contract or Rhodes Scholarship you so clearly wanted?
You just seem so terribly bitter!
We can discuss this in more detail through the appropriate opportunity
In any case you should not think about it much, because it tends to directly affect your confidence and your performance during the internship and presentation. You should just focus on taking each day at a time and making it go perfectly. Most days will, some won't and that's okay.
The silver lining is you must be above average already to have gotten a call back, and someone must have seen some potential in you. Build on that and best of luck.
Q) โGood Evening, Miss USA. If I gave you $1 million, what is the first thing you would do?โ
A) โI will build an orphanage and work for world peace.โ
Yeah, rightโฆ.

I am reminded of 2 Rhodes scholars. One ended up becoming a sophisticated proponent for Modi and another ended up working for Big Tech. ๐
Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
I have tried cold emailing, reaching out to partners on LinkedIn even calling HR's extension number at certain places to get confirmation. sometimes it has worked, but most of the time it hasn't. I do fairly well in studies and have received good feedback from my internships (no, there is no chance of getting a callback there, they are notorious for making you work like dogs for 6-10 months only to "let you go"). What are my options? Doing an LLM even from NLS or any tier 1 would not be enough. I have read enough posts about it. I am interested in transactions. Open to recollecting as long as I get good exposure.
If anyone could shed some light or guide me, even in the smallest way possible, I would be grateful.
