In no particular order:
SAM
CAM
Trilegal
Khaitan
AZB
JSA (though less pay, quite a good name)
Thoughts?
This problem is absolutely true. At the fundamental level, the lack of sleep and work life balance causes these SAs, PAs, and partners to become lazy bosses and mentors.
They give lazy instructions and have absolutely no inclination or aptitude to be mentors. I remember a senior millennial boss of mine, expected A0s to know everything right out of law school. Chutiya himself didn't know law properly, and I now know gave wrong legal opinions. (Pls don't censor chutiya fully pls.) He didn't last long in the practice, and now sells snake oil - iykyk.
1. There was no Aryan invasion but Aryan migration. Unlike major Christian Sects of India which was byproduct of British colonialism (Not talking about St Thomas Christians).
2. Most of Hinduism is Pre Vedic. With roots from IVC (pashupati, Naga worship, Peeples reverence, shivalinga, etc) and non IVC Prevedic cultures - like the Baghor Kali Yantra, and various mother goddesses.
3. There are much better points to advocate for celebrating Christians than trying to do a historically inaccurate Gotcha
While the quality of work is good, the work environment has not been particularly supportive. My seniors are not toxic per se, but I am often left to fend for myself, with limited guidance on deliverables.
I want to move to a firm where I can rely on my seniors for guidance and mentorship. Pay is not a concern for me at this stageโlearning is.
In this context, I would appreciate guidance on whether it would be advisable to start reaching out to recruiters to explore available options, or whether it would be better to wait and reassess after some more time.
I am from a TLC and reaching out to friends for opportunities is out of option.
โThis report shatters several widespread misconceptions about the social composition of students in Indian higher education,โ said Prof. Krishnamurthy. โContrary to the prevailing narrative, students from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) overwhelmingly dominate enrolment and significantly outnumber General Category students.โ
Although the study covered tens of thousands of universities in India, the micro-level data for NLUs is not clear. In addition to caste reservation, NLUs also have domicile reservation. This could end up benefiting upper castes.
Does anyone have any data from NLUs?

I have done more than quality internships without any references, all through myself. Received extremely GOOD feedbacks from all the places, did call backs twice at two different places, but did not hear anything from them regarding PPO.
No idea what I'm gonna do after graduation. Nothing against litigation, but I cannot start out on a 20k job for some personal reasons.
I'm not demoralised or anything like that, still have hopes that something will work out. Just leaving this here, to all fellow mates in a similar situation, if you have put in the effort to do quality internships, dw, something will work out at the end. Cheers :)
I mean you talk about professional environment and behave like a kid yourself, if I mess up. Come tell me about it, I think we should discuss it, no matter how bad, so that I know not to make it next time.
Apka friend, husband yaa family nhi hoon jo, silent treatment doge mreko :/
1. A pet is a great stress buster when you get home from work.
2. Having a pet is like having a baby. Every decision you make (including thinking of going to a later night party or going for an office retreat) will need to consider 2 persons instead of 1 (yes - pets are persons, and have emotions).
3. If you're someone who's looking to enjoy bachelor / bachelorette life and the freedom you have once you get to Bengaluru - this may not be the best decision right now.
4. The initial phase at work may be tricky where you're having to work extra hard to impress your team. This may mean longer hours and more stress (not sure how you handle stress) which could also have an impact on your time / ability to take care of the baby.
You can of course consider fostering pets for a bit and take a call instead of adopting one on day 1 and try it out yourselves instead of asking a group here. If you think it's too much work - you can do this a couple of years later when you are more at ease with work.
Disclaimer - I have multiple pets and had the same issues you do currently. I got them 4 / 5 years after joining work. It's been 4 years and haven't regretted it for a day :)
I feel like (totally my personal opinion) in the race for a bigger paycheck and a bigger name on your CV, you lose out on the little things that made work bearable.
Ab toh bas ghar ka aaram chhodkar roz nikal padte hai, aaram kamaane:)
Proper delegations/ instructions, etc are all fine. But if I have to teach you basic word skills or correct grammar- thatโs a serious issue.
If the former is true, is it better to start with an AOR/ established litigator?
No guidance, want everything in one day Or a few hours, and then blatantly say we extract only money and work from you. As if we are your slaves!
NLUJ
GNLU
This is correct order in my view.
NLSIU
NALSAR
Jindal
ILI Delhi
South Asian (For International Law)
IIT kGP (For IP)
DU
TISS
JNU - MPhil (For International Law)
Jamia/ IP univ
HNLU
NUALS
MNLU Mumbai
I will recommend this order.
NLS is superior faculty, nalsar nowhere close.
NLS is much stronger a brand with superior alumni base.
Quals - NUJS and NALSAR (LLM)
IIT Gandhinagarโs students say: - Mandatory Humanities subjects removed for MTech; credits reduced for Btech - Syllabus redesigned to remove woke components - Department interviews (ideological screenings) scrapped for admission - MA admission solely based on GATE now - MA intake reduced to 20 from 40 - 2 intimidating woke faculties removed from positions

Some years into the profession now, and Iโve had my fair share of toxic bosses. But my first one? Truly a โฎโฎโฎ.
Background:
She was a Senior Associate then. Competent at her work. As a mentor though, she was terrible. Work would be dumped on me with zero context, zero guidance. When I tried to figure things out on my own, Iโd be met with absolute hellfire.
Her logic was simple: โMy seniors never helped me. I figured it out on my own. You should too.โ
Fair enough, mistakes happened, I owned them. The berating was understandable because it was understandable.
What was worse was the silent treatment that followed. Days of being ignored, no communication, no feedback, until suddenly everything was โnormalโ again. And then the cycle would repeat.Eventually, I moved to another firm with better mentors and a healthier environment.
Now:
Iโm now in-house as a Senior Legal Counsel. Sheโs a Partner at another firm. And her firm is one of our regular external counsels forming a major part of her book.
The moment she realised Iโd be her point of contact, I got a text: the usual polite small talk, followed by โhope whatever happened in the past is in the past and wonโt affect our work.โ
No, maโam.
Itโs very much my time to rain hellfire and make you miserable, of course before I take my business elsewhere.
I'm that famous LLM kar le wala Guy
Ask me anything!
End of the story!
I have given a few internship interviews (around 3 to 4), but I keep fucking up and miss out on great opportunities. I blank out on utterly easy questions, which is embarrassing to think about post-interview.
This has really started affecting me and has brought me down. I have one interview next month, which I cannot screw up at any cost.
Any tips or advice (on what topics to cover for gen corp/M&A interviews) would be helpful. Really grateful, thanks.
Their are few slabs of 10% ,25,50,75%
So basically scoring above 21 gonna get u 10
Which is 70000 per year till 5 years
Then above 26 it is 25% which is 1,75,000 per yr
Then above 30 it is 50% 350k and above 36 it is 75% which is 525000 per year till 5 years if maintain good gpa

Any practice area would be great - although preferably - disputes, wcc/investigation, GC/ cap marks. ๐๐ป
I'll be very grateful for any help I can get. I'm a first gen so please be kind hehehe.
Dropping my email too, in case you wanna connect there - lawstudent1712@gmail.com
Lastly, my most important question, does it make sense for me, as someone who got a rank of 15XX last year, to take a partial drop and go for any college that is higher? Thank you.
HC have power to increase seats if any injustice due to mistake of adminstration.
I agreed to do so, but then I felt very awkward about going and asking another lawyer to seek a passover. I made a couple of half hearted attempts which did not translate and ultimately, the matter was called out, and there was no representation made, which led to a warrant being issued against the client.
He was obviously miffed but did not scold me. I have no idea how i got off easy on that.
Isnโt it same with legal??
My preference is places where the work and people are good and actually mentor or provide guidance.
I have heard that some IP boutique firms can assign you to a team that only does opposition or filing work and wanted to confirm if this was true.
Would appreciate inputs
You may have worked in your time with few hours of sleep and absolutely no workโlife balance. A lot of things that were considered โnormalโ back then are neither normal nor acceptable today. That does not mean we should be expected to repeat the same.
All that no sleep has fried your brain cells, especially the ones that deal with communication, because clearly you canโt communicate the end point of the deliverable or the instructions.
We want to have at least some sort of workโlife balance on some days.
Stop blaming Gen Z. The real issue is poor management and lack of proper delegation. Work is dumped without proper guidance, and when it is completed based on whatever understanding we manage to piece together, we are abused for not doing it โcorrectly.โ Then the same people complain about being called toxic on Legally India . What did you expect? Tariff karu? Arti Utaru?
If I knew everything at an A0 level, I would not be on your team, I would be training you on how to manage and train juniors.
It is high time seniors learn how to properly train and delegate work. You cannot just drop tasks on juniors and expect them to magically figure everything out.
The Partner berates the PA, the PA does the same to the SA, and the SA then takes it out on the associates.
This trickle-down toxicity makes no sense.
Nothing against GS, he may be good, but nearly not good enough to the extent people here keep hying him up. There's no dearth of quality Counsels and Mentors, it baffles me to see just these 2-3 names popping up every now and then.

Please geek out on this and help your girl out. Thank you so much!
Compared to symbiosis Christ academic culture is non existent. Being strict and treating students and faculties like a Child is not a good substitute for not having an academic culture. The current dean and ex HOD has โฎโฎโฎ.
In my first year, I was asked to follow up on a matter on daily basis to track its listing for hearing in a particular court. Saw the listing and still sent an email saying not listed (copy pasted from last email - what a rookie mistake) :P
Seniors got to know early morning - I guess through the Client, and I got yelled at badly and got fired :(
Ten years down the line, learnt a lot from all such mistakes - now a Partner at T1. So fuck yeaahhh :)
I'm often sreprimanded for mistakes most of which are usually made when I'm confused about something and do not want to disturb my senior by asking them up every 30 minutes. Sometimes, I'm certain that I'm completing my assignments in the correct way but then later I'm confronted with my mistakes.
I want to be seen as an associate whom the partner can rely upon.
I lose my momentum after each setback then it takes at least a couple of weeks to get the confidence back.
Other A0s here, do you also experience this? Do you feel lost too? Like you don't know anything, constant fear of getting fired or getting threats of being fired, miscommunication as to what the end deliverable will be, missing small things, idk, please share your experiences.
6 months as an A0 and I feel dumb as if I am growing and then coming back to where I started. Getting reprimanded weekly for everything under the sun (drafts, emails, following instructions to the T, not doing the work on weekend that I was asked to take up the next wednesday)
BR Gavai: โWhat I have seen on your program is that it has been projected as if we have given a complete license for mining in the Aravalli hills, but that's not correct. If you go through the judgment, we have in fact imposed certain more restrictions on mining in the Aravalli hills and rangesโ.
Arnab Goswami: โThe nation is angry, 80% of the people feel there should be a revisiting of the judgment. What is your view on revisiting the judgment?โ
BR Gavai: โI cannot make any comment on that because any comment by me may be prejudging the issue because I am out of the systemโ.
Arnab Goswami: โIโll appreciate your coming on air tonight because I got a chance to put some straight questionsโ.
BR Gavai: โI again say that you have not read the judgment completelyโ.
Arnab Goswami: โI have read every word of the judgment from the first to the last pageโ.
BR Gavai: โNo, I am not trying to convince youโ.
Arnab Goswami: โAnyway, we are not here to convince each otherโ.
BR Gavai: โThank you very muchโ.

Only firms to have comprehensive capability are AZB & Trilegal where they have all skillsets and experience, both on investigations and advising/defence. AZB is strong in Mumbai whereas Trilegal is strong in Delhi. These two firms mostly do international inbound work. Domestic clients mostly are cost conscious and will go to Khaitan or JSA types, where the billing rates are almost half.
