No one from these NLUs has yet reached these heights. It’s true that most other NLUs did not exist when some of the NLSIU luminaries graduated (barring Niranjan, who is younger). But still, the older alumni from NALSAR, NLUJ, NUJS etc will be close to 45 years now. Another 5 -7 years and they will be in their 50s. So fair to speculate whose trajectory is headed there.

As an Intern with a PPO at a t1 from a tier 10 law school, apply to every partner you can, even assuming 95% wont care, if your profile is good you will get a t1 internship at every firm, I made into SAM,KCO,AZB and landed a ppo at Trilegal because of cold emailing partners.

That being said do not spam any partner more than once and at max one follow up and only apply to firms which have a resonable chance at picking you up, do not spam t1's with less than 5-6 internships on your cv if you are not from a t1 law school.

She is amazing no doubt. Not sure whether she'll become bigger than KS or AJ. They were in their own leagues, and she would surely grow to be in there. But there honestly isn't anything bigger than them - and if there is, it would be the likes of the dather of UU Lalit, FS Nariman, R Jethmalani, Barry Sen, Ashok Sen, Soli Sorabjee, etc, who were all much more senior. Perhaps much much later, or perhaps never.

This is honestly so sad. No doubt she is a great senior advocate, even better lawyer, and one can't stop complimenting her on her achievements and everything. However, a ticket from tmc is awful. Yes, a lawyer can represent anyone and following the cab rank rule, a lawyer should not say no to anyone per se. She can obviosuly choose to represent whoever she wants to. The student had also earlier submitted a complaint before the vice chancellor against Zaidi and another assistant professor Ekta Chauhan, alleging their statements against the RSS. BJP MP from Kurukshetra Naveen Jindal is the founding chancellor of the university.

Let it be placed on record that NUJS students DID NOT uninvite the following:

1. Kalyan Banerjee (governing body member): Mocked CPIM’s Dipsita Dhar over her dark skin and made misogynistic remarks about Mahua Moitra. No apology.

2. Mamata Banerjee: Has made multiple remarks after rape cases calling the incidents fabricated and shaming the survivors. No apology.

On the other hand, Jagdeep Dhankhar’s remarks supporting the CAA have also been made by the likes of Harish Salve and we are yet to see any court declare it unconstitutional.

Hi, I am a law student. However I hope my experience isn't discounted because of this. I understand how ADHD ducks up some aspects of work. Being diagnosed with Autism+Adhd, I've often struggled in understanding and presenting assignments. Thankfully, I have a set of wonderful parents who have supported me in this regard to the extent that I have been able to mask most of my "traits" when interacting with people. Two things:

(1) Never disclose to anyone and especially your employer that you are neurodivergent. Globally, there's a lot of stigma associated with being ND, in India its 10x more. I understand that it might feel suffocating and you feel you have to work twice as hard to do the same task a NT does, but currently India hasn't progressed to the extent that it can welcome NDs in the workplace. It hurt to say this but there's nothing you can do but suck it up and "work harder"

(2) Try taking up work that relates to any of your special interests. I know many NDs in law firms who absolutely crush their job because they're engaged in work that they absolutely love. Personally, I never found an interest in subjects taught in law school. GenCorp was a practice area I found to be extremely boring and intellectually dry and that translated into shoddy work being submitted. Currently, I've found a niche to my liking to the extent that I've been able to match associates on aspects of work quality. I know of another ND in a tier 2 firm who loves writing and utilised it in drafting memos, complaints, petitions. He's loved by the team for it.

There's a team in Trilegal Bangalore that's filled with NDs, they don't interact much as a bunch but the team is well-known for the work it deals in.

Dunno abt all this but there is a strong rumour that she may have had a role in the smooth exit of someone from NLS campus recently and his rehab in WB. Everyone (yes saffron included) appreciated the honourable exit that was worked out.

I am currently with 4 years PQE working at a Tier 1 in the Mand A PE/VC team. I feel because of transactional work being so niche it's harder to find good Inhouse jobs that allign with my practice area and also atleast match the pay. I am fine with not as high increments if I get decent WLB. So, I have a query could you maybe assist from your own experience how exactly did you go about making the switch ? Like which recruiters to reach out coz on LinkedIn I get spammed by recruiters legit every day for an opportunity at other Tier 1 law firms but I am genuinely not interested in going to another Tier 1. I am done with law firms.

This time in the class of 2026 around 80+ students have been placed out of 125, 10-15 are still looking for placements through the recruitment cell while others want to pursue litigation independently/apply for masters/sit for competitive exams. So yes largely batches tend to have 20/25 people who opt out of placements willingly (NUJS)

Just say it politely, and try to ensure that no one else is there to avoid embarrassment for them, that you don't like comments over these things.

In my team, people generally say these things, "you have gained weight, this shirt looks/does not look good on you, what happened to your hair?" but we are chill and team is closely knit and associates sometimes even tease partners like saying things like "have I given you so much tension that your hairline has started to recede", so nobody cares. But if you have issues, just tell them politely- there is no other way out.

I have come to realize that at an Associate level, it matters a lot more how your immediate seniors are than how the partner is. Trying to figure out and identify some rising stars in the Infrastructure & Projects practice who I could learn from and grow with. Bonus points if they are in Delhi NCR so I don't have to relocate.

NUJS students don't realise the effects of continuosly revoking invitations of esteemed luminaries because some left liberals have issue. JSD is a senior advocate, esteemed author and a competent public speaker. People should engage in discourse and critical thinking. New VC shouldn't have allowed this

Yes, 40 lacs makes it one of the expensive programmes in the country - definitely not worth it. I remember they were even initially claiming to run the programme from their planned "Gurgaon" campus - that never materialized.

IIM Rohtak has nothing that differentiates it from other mid-tier business schools. Even as a business school, it is mediocre.

Is skipping law firm life a mistake long-term, or is early in-house experience actually a smarter play in today’s market? If you were graduating right now, what would you choose and why?

He’s playing defensive shots right now. He will increase the run rate after the elections. Also keep an eye out for the SIR developments. If the backlog cannot be cleared on time, the SC will have no option but to delay the elections. That will mean President’s rule and anything could happen.

Isn't it just self serving for partners to spread such rumours? very unprofessional. Until he announces it himself (even if he has indicated it to any of them, which I am sure is in confidence), they should not be spreading this rumour. Really shows lack of character and integrity. Gen Corp, 6 year PQE. Actually no difference in current pay maybe will that will come in the next few years. The better work life more than compensates for everything. It feels like I am born again. No unnecessary pressure and calls. Everybody asks for permission before calling. Way more liability because need to take responsibility for my calls. But all worth it till now.

Such comments may not fall strictly under POSH but the comments may have felt disrespectful, creepy or crash still? Please share your experiences and how you deal with such seniors diplomatically. Have been extensively using claude cowork at my firm. I work in MnA. I have learned to automate 70% of the grunt work. I do all this without telling PA or the partner because I know they wont approve. I have read to claude cowork's agreements and terms and condtions. . . they can't use the data i am uploading if I opt-out.

OP is not making the argument that precedent should not be relied upon. They are instead arguing that people rely too much on precedent due to which they spend an undue amount of time searching for precedent which most likely does not exist (especially if it is not found within a few hours). OP is essentially saying that you will sometimes have to argue a case without favourable precedent at hand and that lawyers should make their peace with this.

This is what I did last year. I copied all university domain names from the CLAT website, added a bunch of others I got from our HR, and blocked them. This hasn't stopped students cold mailing me from Gmail addresses, but it has reduced the spam to some extent. Am I the worst human being on the planet for doing this? Sure, but the trade off is worth it.

b) when he is in the campus he is quick in his duties, has clear ideas as to what he wants to do

Unless your undergraduate constitutional scholar is the world's next A.V. Dicey, Walter Bagehot, Ivor Jennings, Carol Harlow or Sir David Williams, I don't think we are gonna see anything other than amateurish bilge coming out of any attempt at "[engagement] with constitutional law" through "research, writing". You need to have read constitutional law like crazy first, both at university as an undergraduate and beyond, and done at least a few of the other activities listed in this post, before you can even begin to think of research. And that doesn't include having been rigorously trained in jurisprudence and legal theory at an advanced level, along with advanced training in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, so that you at least have the tools to try and make an original contribution to knowledge through the "[engagement]". Of course, it's great to try and engage with constitutional law through blogs and so on, but even there, you need to read first (blogs like UKCLA and publiclawforeveryone.com are examples that spring to mind at the top of the head) before trying even that yourself. And that doesn't include training in related fields, such as human rights and international law. Are the law schools providing all these? Sanjay Jain, who teaches con law and juris at NLSIU, points out that it is very difficult for him to discriminate between which he loves more - con law or jurisprudence - because of the connections and mixing up in the two fields. Are the students being taught jurisprudence (and con law) in a way that reveals these beautiful connections or not? Those are more hard-hitting questions to ask IMO. Are the law schools maybe encouraging people to go for jobs like research assistant posts at the law commission or judicial clerkships? Are those roles as well represented in a university's career destination report figures as commercial law at firms? What you want to also ask is if the universities have the kind of centres (meaningfully running) like the Global Centre for Democratic Constitutionalism at UCL and events like that centre's Public Law Seminar Series. If so, are students given opportunities to attend? Are they maybe involved in the organisation of those events? And are they involved to some degree at least in the discussions that take place around constitutional law scholarship discussed at those events? You need to start small first, before you get into big things.

Bar council should take strict action against this dummy law college. For 5 years they have no Dean, no director of law school and not a single faculty appointed as assistant or associate professor. No question of a single full professor. They appoint only Lecturers and that also on ad hoc or contract basis.

The director of IIM Rohtak who is himself facing with so many charges including falsifying his bachelors degree to get his job has no interest in law program except making money from it.

Students must beware. Go to any xyz law college or even Galgotias but don’t burn money in the name of iim here.
