I am looking to switch from my law firm job to good chambers or join any senior advocate in Delhi (General litigation and not restricted to only IP or other specialised areas)

There should be scope of growth, quality work, flexibility to take up independent matters, and good pay. And most importantly a good boss!

Hi. Have spent close to a year in a T2 / boutique law firm now, in a city and practice area of my choice. However, I don’t feel like settling for this. I want to be in a creative career - not necessarily in the arts, but I have been told (and do feel) that I would do well in an organisational or logistical career, with a lot of people interaction. Any suggestions from those who have made the switch? How do I move, what career can I pick? Would be grateful for any help.

The HR of every firm will consider your application on merits. It is their job and is based on the SOPs that we have in place.

Op here. This is a poetic way of conveying the rot which has plagued this page for long. Plethora of unnecessary posts which display rivalries of NLUs over petty issues. Even well meaning discussions get derailed because someone from these colleges decides to go on some random tangent.

Hi OP, I am a T1 NLU grad who graduated in a bottom 25% rank with 4 job offers, including from two T1 law firms. It can be done - but is a question on making the best of every opportunity you get. I'd absolutely kill it in every internship — never had one where I wasn't offered at least a callback. Then I'd network and make connects with everyone — seniors at college, alumni, guest faculty who were otherwise working professionals, etc etc. Easier than you think: just read up on their practice areas / areas of interest, demonstrate genuine interest, and be honest about needing an opportunity. Don't ask for the opportunity (unless you've interned / worked with them), ask for guidance. Eventually, go back and show that you did what they suggested, and if that doesn't automatically get you something else, it will at least make you look like a viable candidate and you can then go on to request an opportunity/reference.

Also, re: your rank, just show improvement. Read up before the class. Have an idea of what's going to be talked about and everything in the class becomes easy. If you can, make notes. If you can't, beg and borrow from seniors. That coupled with a genuine demonstration of interest and people willing to vouch for your dedication will almost definitely get you a job offer.

I am a IIIrd year student at NLUD. I want to end up in litigation but don't want to ditch my chances of getting placed in a non-disputes firm at a T1. It seems as if anybody getting into non-disputes (1) has an amazing rank; (2) is undeniably smart; (3) knows exactly what to say when and to whom; and (4) had a little bit of luck on their side.

With no relevant experience and a horrible rank, what is the best way to secure such an internship (and eventually a job)? Most of my achievements are in competitions nobody really cares about and all my internships have been disputes/litigation oriented.

Do students today still meaningfully engage with constitutional law and theory beyond treating it as just another mandatory subject? While many students continue to find constitutional law intellectually fascinating, one must ask whether that interest translates into sustained, serious engagement capable of shaping legal discourse.

In an era where career trajectories appear increasingly corporate-oriented, constitutional law risks being reduced to a classroom requirement rather than a lived academic and intellectual pursuit. Are students engaging with constitutional theory outside the syllabus through research, writing, litigation, public law forums, or critical debate? Or has constitutionalism become more symbolic than substantive within law school culture?

The question is not merely about curricular presence, but about intellectual commitment. If law schools are to remain spaces that nurture public reasoning and constitutional imagination, engagement must extend beyond examinations and into scholarship, institutional conversations, and interventions in contemporary debates.

Is that still happening, or are we witnessing a quiet retreat from constitutional discourse within our campuses?

Is there a basis for this claim? If he is retiring soon it will be useful to know for juniors/laterals hoping/planning to join him thinking they will get to work with him. Frankly associates may not join this team but for Ravi's stellar reputation. Other partners are mostly not very well known.

I seek to enroll in PhD soon, however due to financial reasons I need to join the job first. What is the norm around notice period in case I get enrolled in PhD?
