You folks should have raised the matter earlier when you were being taught only by guest faculty from outside, some very mediocre. You didn't have a good library, you had to memorize bare acts for your exams like TLC people, you were not given support for internships, competitions. JGLS hosted the 2026 India National Qualifiers for the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. It has been widely acknowledged within the Indian Jessup community that the Indian National Rounds, for the better part of the last decade, suffered from serious organisational shortcomings under Amity—most notably with respect to judging standards.

Based on this year’s rounds, Jindal delivered a marked improvement: logistics were smoother (accommodation, timings, venues), and, more importantly, the judging quality appeared significantly more consistent and credible.

For a competition like Jessup—where national qualifiers are the critical gateway to the international rounds—administration and judging integrity matter as much as logistical efficiency. Teams prepare for months, often 3–5, under demanding conditions. Poor organisation at the national stage is not a minor problem; it diminishes the value of that preparation and the legitimacy of the process.

All of them are saying that their teaching and admin workload is so much that they are hardly getting any time to do meaningful research. Some who would like to prioritise research have even quit as a result. Why is that happening?

Columbia is in NYC and corporate laws is one of its key offerings. Top tier partners from NY firms come and teach there. It does not get better than that. Stanford does not have a good m&A program and west coast is more VC area. Agree that Berkeley is not the right one for corp / M&A but Columbia is the best. This is coming from someone who went to CLS, and has been working in NYC for a decent amount of time......

LLM is the easiest program to get into anywhere in the world. No brain application or hard work just plain simple application and you are in. These foreign universities will take your money with both hands and admit you. Job prospects after graduating were very bleak and now with anti-immigration atmosphere everywhere it's going to be even worse.

I am not kidding. It's super simple, don't worry. I am pretty sure you will get into a T14 law school in states with scholarship. and if you go there, enjoy it. Once in a lifetime opportunity.

I was merely an intern there so it is true that there's a possibility I do not fully know what goes on among the professionals, but I thought it was one of the better places to learn. The learning curve is pretty good, I saw fresher-associates handling clients. the seniors of the firm are pretty chill people too. I frankly appreciate the amount of freedom I saw the associates have. True associates do stay up to as late as 8:30-9, but then thats the deal with most start-up firms, right?

In my opinion, the work culture is not that great. You have work or not regardless you will have to stay late in the night. The associates are also not that great to work with afaik. Plus, I have heard from a few people that their HR is a pain for everyone. Just one HR, but her work ethics and responsiveness to people’s concern is worrying.

Disagree with both. It's highly team-dependent. While I agree that teams that work on securitization etc might have 'dry' work, other areas such as private credit, structured finance and the like are highly on the rise (domestically as well as internationally). Such work is also very intellectually stimulating.

A non-NLU observer, by definition, cannot be "neutral" in this space and especially as regards this topic. One of the few kinds of people who have anything to do with law and who are connected with India in any way who can even hope to make a claim of this kind that has half a leg to stand on are those, like me, who, for one reason or another, did not want or need any kind of a legal education in India at all (or for whom, because of maybe a combo of personal circumstances and/or career ambitions, a legal education in India as opposed to one outside India may have been viewed by themselves and/or their families as a liability rather than an asset). After all, such persons have no skin in the game, as far as Indian workplace competition etc goes, and can amuse themselves for a relaxing half an hour by reading this hub for first class shitposting.

I got a call from MNLU Mumbai for a PhD interview. If anyone has any experience could you please share. I have no clue of the university, advisors and approach. The only thing I know is that they prefer alumni and/or Marathis. How true is that ? Also how much does written marks play a role, will the interview in itself be enough to fully focus on. Since college, I had my doubts about my ADHD, but as soon as I started working, I had to get it diagnosed, and I have been on medication (stimulant and non-stimulant). My work significantly improved, I feel like the fog has cleared up, and whatnot. Although after getting diagnosed, I asked my doc if i should disclose this at my workplace, he asked me not to because, from his experience, his patients faced some or the other kind of discrimination after disclosure of their diagnosis. On a lighter note, he asked me to disclose it if I start working for a US or EU-based firm.

Ok so policy 1: if you’re travelling outstation for a matter, you’re expected to take the last flight out the day before. You’re then required to work the entire day outstation and take the last flight out or a flight after 8pm so that you can “work”.

If it’s the same day travel then you may not get an accommodation and you’re expected to work in court, followed by working at the airport.

2. KCO takes interns online, but if your team requires you to work offline, they will let you know. My team wanted me to work offline, they asked me if I can come to office.

3. No cons of virtual internship. You can always connect with your associates. You'll get work no matter what. Totally depends on you, how good you are with work.

4. I know someone who got their internship transferred, but only if you know the partner from the other office you want to work in.
