15 lakhs is the fixed, bonus cap from what i’ve heard is 3 lakhs (they never tell officially) and made 5 lakhs in bill share (locked in from July, after completing one year on the firm)

1. You have free afternoons/evenings which you can use to do your articleship in a good law firm for solicitor exam.
2. You save money which you can later use to do LLM from abroad, QLTS, etc.
3. Connections/Network in Bombay Bar and law firm circuit can go a long way in catapulting your career in 5 years.
Anyway, put your maximum effort wherever you join (GLC or MNLU-N) and you will outshine.

Just fed up of this BS. Y’all really need to STFU and introspect seriously.
One positive thing that has happened is that the pack of criminals running the state for 15 years have left and a very erudite person, with a PhD from SOAS, has become Finance Minister. Last time this happened was when Asim Dasgupta (a PhD from MIT) was Finance Minister, under the Left government. I think a delegation of alumni and students should seek an appointment with Swapan Dasgupta and make a case for reforming NUJS. Start with inducting good people in the governing bodies and top alumni of NLUs.
All in all, she clocks in around 6-7 hours of work in an entire day and droolers like you march in, saying 'we need to learn'. Oh, the irony!
I spent 10 years in a T1. It was a mess -- let her grow and see what happens.

Look at the ROI NLSIU gives you now. Fabulous placements and fantastic faculty who could be teaching anywhere abroad. All for a fraction of the cost abroad. Yes, the hostel issue is a but challenging now, but it will be solved with new construction.
Even Harvard will not necessarily give you such ROI.
The office is very cramped with the only upside being that everyone including partners interact a lot mostly working together in a common area instead of slogging alone in cubicles like their Noida counterpart. As an intern you'll have many opportunities for direct partner interaction and mentorship. The only issue is that they take in a lot of interns making competition extremely tough - if you're eyeing a PPO be ready to put in the efforts and hours. They should genuinely switch their office not only because of the space crunch but also because Hansalya can come down any day. All the best!

Someone who went for law studies abroad, so has no skin in the game of NLU vs. TLC debate.
I have heard that the students are really working overtime to turn things around and I was wondering if this is true.

China ditches 12000 obsolete programmes, mostly in humanities and arts disciplines.
This validates that the humanities and arts are becoming obsolete. NLUs will be disrupted.
- More money in the hands of the elite, allowing them to send their kids abroad or to Jindal (perhaps BITS, for those who wish to stay in Mumbai).
- CLAT becoming harder to crack for GC students, with greater competition and fewer merit list seats.
- Infra in top NLUs crumbling (NLSIU, NUJS). Tier 2 NLUs in shambles (RMLNLU)
- Just higher aspirations for their kids. Weather went to NLSIU, now earns enough to send son for an LLB to the UK.
