Dear Bar Council of India,

Guessing that you must be occupied in doing something extremely important, I shall refrain from reiterataing the events involving members of the legal fraternity in the Capital since past 6 days. I will directly come to the point and hope that you will have an answer to a very basic question of mine i.e What has the Bar Council of India done or intends to do with respect to the Lawyers involved in violent and completely unaccetable behaviour including but not limited to physically assaulting journalists and students within the Court Premises? Really, within the court premises.

I wonder how this has missed your attention or rather what is so grave and important that BCI is engrossed in, which disabled it from even issuing a statement condemning such conduct on part of certain members of the legal fraternity (If not atleast take action against them).

If there was any opportune moment to prove your relevance, it is now. But how unfortunate that you maintain a studied quiet while our profession and its ethics are under direct attack and question.

Regards,

An embaressed lawyer

This is not the first time lawyers have done this. They have misbehaved even with high court judges in Madras and Hyderabad. Did not see any outrage then from public or BCI. So why this hulla boo now?

I think one point which MUST be paid attention to is that the advocates are also natives of this country and being a true indian, when provoked and rained with stones, one has to stick to the basic instinct and that is the "equal and opposite reaction". I completely support those advocates who rewarded the abusers. One who is a traitor and vengeful against India must be beheaded then and there.

I think this type of hooliganism is going on every now and then on the part of lawyers even in kolkata like other places in India.LAWYERS FRATERNITY being the social engineer must protest irrespective of their individuals ideology and profession and instill the confidence of people of this country.
