SCBA Elections: What should the SCBA's agenda be this year?

SCBA Elections are being held on May 7th, 2010.It would be great to discuss people’s thoughts/views on how the SCBA should move forward this year. Clearly, a lot of trust has to be re-built and greater transparency and accountability needs to be reinstated. So please do share your ideas and thoughts on what the SCBA should seek to accomplish this year. As a candidate for the post of Secretary, I am keen to hear your views, and will seek to incorporate your views and opinions into the SCBA’s agenda.

I think greater communication between the exec committee and the SCBA members is needed. Right now, the minutes and the details of the discussions that go behind the decision-making are only filed into the records, but the members do not get to see them. I think we should have an online repository of SCBA exec committee meetings and the minutes, for example.

I think the SCBA executive committee should focus on providing healthcare/insurance to its members. Plus, the young lawyers need to be more organized so that they can express their concerns collectively.
