This is for all those who gave CLAT 2010 and have qualified for one or the other national law school

You have to understand that the “goodness” of a college depends hugely on the quality of placements of its students. and if you were lured to law after hearing about the fat pay packages and high profile jobs offered to fresh law graduates then be very clear that you have to be a passout from one of the following: NLS, NALSAR, NUJS, NLU Jodhpur.

NLIU Bhopal would be a high risk choice to go by.

The rest are not even worth talking about.

I have just passed out from law school (one of the Big Three) and I was a part of the college’s Placement Cell, so I have been following the recruitment trend in all the law school

I am appalled that a person of your stature could end up making such baseless, and unwarranted statements. You went on to say that students from NLSIU, NALSAR, ‘NUJS’ and NLU-J and, that it would be a big gamble to study at NLIU, Bhopal. Since you were in the placement committee, you should have very well known that in 2008 the placements at NUJS were terrible and that till April 2010, only 84% percent of the students of that concerned batch had managed to bag jobs whereas, in NLIU Bhopal 96% of the students had bagged offers and this is as good as the figures at NLSIU. If NLIU was indeed a big ”risk”, then firms like Linklaters LLP, Clifford Chance, Amarchand Mangaldas, AZB, Allen & Overy, Fox Mandal, etc, would not have recruited from Bhopal over these years. And, as far as infrastructure is concerned NLIU leads the way in that also. Anyway, your post was not as preposterous as what I came across a few days back. One student went on to say that in the next three years, NUJS would be India’s best law school followed by NLU Delhi and NLSIU. Oh my God!! I know sentiments are definitely attached to one’s Alma Mater but, they should be kept aside while guiding a law aspirant since, it is his/her future which is at stake and not out personal pride. Last year i faced the same dilemma though i scored good in my 12th so i opted for ILS instead of symbi… what i will advise you is that go to pune join symbi and simultanously prepare for CLAT and join an year long course in LST Pune.. I did the same and i got selected in one of the top three.. but the problem is once u join college there r a lot of distractions esp if u r joining a college like symbi.. it up to you to remain focussed.. once you join the college pls keep in mind DONT BECOME COMPLACENT..

dude do not join symbi not bcoz its a bad college but becoz thts not ur aim.U aim the CLAT,TAKE A BREAK,PREPARE…goin to symbi will only distract u n u have d additional pressur of clearing tests, sem exams stc..so take a brek n studey for CLAT withh all sincerety n dedication.U will cruise through!

1. if u r a student of symbi.. then well u r entitled to ur views.. bt then bear in mind tht those are ur personal views and im sure you understand that you are too small a fry to judge a college..

2. If ur not a Symbiote : then just shut ur trap up as u hav no idea wot symbi is all about

n well for all those who label symbiosis as a bad college bcoz of distractions.. then lemme remind u tht the college doesnt encourage ppl to indulge in whatever activities u guyz brand as ‘distractions’. It’s the students who choose for themselves.. and so the application of these adjectives should be restricted to the students alone.. and not to be extended to college . Now just bcoz ur National law schools are located off city limits and u hav a mundane life thanks to ur hostel regime or whatever.. doesn’t imply that ur law school is any better.. then well all institutions would be judged on how dull the life is one campus..

Symbiosis does provide its students wid all opportunities that the other colleges provide.. sumtyms even more ( Erasmus Mundus). now if the students dnt want to make use of them.. well then the buck stops at those students.. and they also forego their right to criticize the college wen they end up wid no placements.

At the same time.. widout a shadow of doubt, NLS, NALSAR n NUJS r better colleges than Symbiosis hand down. SO if ur ultimate dream is one of these .. then dnt commit urself to Symbi as ull nt get mch time to prepare for CLAT.. bt at the same time.. dnt judge by baseless allegations levelled by some legal education pundits in this tread..

Like every other college.. Symbiosis has both pros and cons…

I suggest you join Symbiosis this year.. and prepare for CLAT.. The first yr of law there will help u crack CLAT (the legal aptitude part)…

Of all the non ‘N’ law schools, Symbiosis is pretty decent. The cream of Symbiosis will get placed on par with the average Joe from a national law school.

The question is symbiosis is good or not? Now tell me all those who said its a bad college or a good college, are you a perfect human being? you have all the ideas of law colleges and its inside fundas? No dear friends.

Symbiosis is not a good college or a bad college. I did law from symbi and still hate this college but when i think about myself what I did, i will say..its my fault that i couldnt make symbi the best college. thats my fault. Yes, symbi wont give u best faculty, best environment, best placement or whatever you need but symbi will give you good launching pad as a lawyer, good placement though this year it sucked (so i am confused what to say, earlier it was good), internship, u will have to apply yourself though college will help you in this regard(conditions apply).

So i will say try for CLAT. if you dont get your wish college then go for symbi because symbi can make you the best as well if you have the talent and if you dont have the talent then even nlsiu cant help.

About national law schools and all, they have problems as well. you wont know as you all are young but there are many national colleges where there were scandals, paper leaks, students applying themselves, etc so in the end its YOU who will make the difference not the college.

Alright… As a ex-symbi student who joined symbi last year and cracked clat this year (going to nalsar)… I would like to tell you that Symbiosis is the best private law college in the country.

I agree that the placements are very essential for a law school. But, its impossible that the batch of 240 students will be perfectly placed… the intake of NLSIU and NALSAR is less than one-third of Symbi and that is the reason why all the students from Symbiosis aren’t being placed.

If you need a good placement(in symbi), you will have to be in the Top 10 of your batch and if you are at NLSIU, NALSAR, NUJS or NLU J, you just have to be an average student to get the same.

Next thing is Infrastructure… In Symbiosis, people live in a bubble world. They just have 12 class rooms, a small office (for the whole staff… like principle, vice principle, registrar and the whole faculty), a small auditorium(abt the size of 2 class rooms), a tiny internet center and a very congested library with a reading hall section.. (in which hardly 20 ppl can fit)

When it comes to NLUs, they have brilliant campuses… just unimaginable to Symbi… (we are being told since 5-6 years that we will get a new campus… it ll never happen)

Now.. what should you do???

Firstly, did you get into NLSIU or NALSAR or NUJS or NLU J or NLIU or GNLU ?? If not, Symbi is the best option you ve got to do law.

Wanna write CLAT next year?

YES… you have to write CLAT next year and you can definitely crack it… like I did… (well… only 2 in our batch did while around 25-30 gave it)… so.. focus… you have a great back up if you dont crack clat.. You can still do law from symbi…

Its amazing how people who claim to have cracked the clat cant spell “principal” correctly, its amazing how such people make it to the famed N-schools. Quotas perhaps.

YES. he went through AP quota. He got around 400 rank in the CLAT. I know him personally as i was his batchmate at Symbi.

Some people are plain lucky. He is not highly regarded in Symbi due to his nonchalant remarks about Symbi after he got into NALSAR.

1st you tell symbi is best private law college but telling so many cons. do you know about other private colleges like kiit, icfai, jindal, ils etc.

symbiosis is a gud private college. But a NLU is anytime better than symbi. A lot of my classmates got symbi but chose NLU over it.

whoever you may be you have no idea about hnlu…studing in the top three law school does not give you the status to comment about the low rankin law schools.hnlu is a very good law school to study…provides ample apportunity to show case ur talent..rather than only tryin to secure cgpa as the other national law schools students do..further i have interned wid most of the nls and nalsar and nujs students…i dont think dere quality is anyway superior to that of hnlu..may b it will be less as far as i knw..derefore kindly stop boasting abt ur brand name as such…bcz in reality its the students who perform nt law schools…

ah..the superfluous over debated topic makes its grand re-entry, “my law school strongest.” all the decent law schools in india will provide you with a plethora of opportunities to make it big in life. the reputation enjoyed by NLS/NALSAR/NUJS, was not built in a day. their students had to prove their mettle by working as hard as humanly possible. For instance, NLSIU won the Jessups back in 1999, had their students just cribbed about the greatness of their college by engaging in asinine arguments, such stupendous feat would have never been achieved. If you get into any of the nationals or symbi, amity, etc, consider yourself fortunate and work hard to make your college come up the ranks. By going to an already established college, you’ll be given the benefit of the hard work done by your seniors and the alumni over the years. But there’s a saying “you’ll have to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was.” life @ law school will, in either ways, be a challenge, either you shall contribute towards the greatness of your college by making it stay at the top, or you shall get it to the top.
