LI new site design beta - feedback please!
Hello,
You will have noticed we launched a new layout for the website last weekend after considerable reader feedback (shout out for help in recent weeks goes out particularly to John2010 (whose idea for a new logo we ripped off shamelessly), Ajiteshwar Singh and LegalPoet - thanks a ton!).
We hope you like it better and it presents the content which has mushroomed over the last year more clearly and accessibly.
We are still fine-tuning it this week and fixing several issues (listed below).
I appeal for your help now to help us make it more useful and pretty for everyone.
1. I have heard that some users are having issues logging in to the website? Can you please confirm and describe what browser you are using and what error message you get? And have you tried whether clearing the cookies fixes it?
2. Any usability suggestions? What kind of features would you like to see on the site?
Any usability suggestions or annoyances that make browsing the new site a pain?
To do list:
Fixing the styling and consistency of visual appearance, such as: latest comments box, some of the colour scheming of titles, ugly white-spaces;
Adding a nicer log-in button or box to allow people to log into their accounts more quickly;
displaying some more content more prominently, such as law firm and law school news;
other tinkerings here and there - very open to suggestions.
Many thanks, any and all help will be gratefully received.
Kian

Hey,
Sorry I couldn’t reply earlier. My IE login is working now. Here are a few suggestions for now:
1. The twitter icon can have a white background
2. There is a way to remove that icon that comes before LI before on facebook. I think we can just have the like button.
3. There is something known as the echo comment system. I think you’ll like that. http://js-kit.com/ . There is also another platform called intense debate you might be interested in - http://intensedebate.com/
4. The menu above copyright and copyright itself can be center aligned.
5. The Indian Blawgs have a box surrounding them. Either we can a box around UK legal news and Indian Corporate law or on neither of them.
6. My last suggestion is to have a section for alternate lawyers. Basically lawyers who are doing other things in life. That may help young people get more perspective on how things might turn out.
Hi John,
Many thanks, those are great, will try to fix some of these ASAP - haven’t had time to look at some of these consistencies yet.
3. By the way, I don’t think external comment systems are a great idea, to be honest. Some issues with potential downtime and being dependent on their server to host, plus inability to log on with LI avatars and post from them…
2. I am not sure whether it’s possible to remove the Facebook image easily - Facebook is a pain in the neck to work with actually…
6. Is definitely interesting, would make a good feature…
Best regards,
Kian
