Jindal Criminal Law Review (JCLR), a student-run, peer reviewed journal of Centre for Penology, Criminal Justice & Police Studies (CPCJPS) of Jindal Global Law School invites articles, research papers, case comments, book reviews and commentaries for its first issue.

JCLR is the brainchild of, and is set up with the objective of promoting innovative research by, students interested in the issues of criminal law and policy across the country. The journal seeks to encourage rigorous inter-disciplinary research on diverse aspects of criminal law and aims to investigate criminal law and policy from social sciences and humanities perspectives. The journal hopes to simultaneously work at two different levels– the conceptual and the empirical– usually seen as mutually exclusive. The review will offer a thorough analyses on critical aspects of criminal law and will attempt to keep the readers abreast with contemporary developments in the field.

The journal will follow an ongoing, annual rotation method, wherein selected articles will be accepted for the online version of JCLR. The best articles from the online journal will feature in the annual print version of JCLR. The decision on the selection of articles for the print version will be taken by the JCLR Board, in consultation with the faculty advisors.

Notes For Authors

Submission Guidelines:

All submissions must be sent in MS word format to (jclreview[at-the-rate-of]jgu[dot]edu.in) As the journal follows a rolling submission policy, there is no deadline for submission. Submissions will be accepted throughout the year.

Authors must be prepared for a detailed, many-layered and fast-moving editorial process. All submission to JCLR will undergo blind peer review. Authors will be contacted within 15 days from the date of submission and intimated about the acceptance/rejection of the submission. In case of acceptance, authors will be given detailed feedback, and may be required to re-work on the submission according to the suggestions made by the editorial board.

Word Limit:

Research articles should be up to 6000 words; book review essays, commentaries or notes up to 4000 words; case comments and book reviews up to 2000 words. The word limit is inclusive of footnotes. In exceptional circumstances- when there is a rigorously researched article that justifies its length on merit- papers exceeding the required word limit may be considered for publication.

Authors are expected to follow ILI rules for footnoting available at http://www.ili.ac.in/footnoting12.pdf

Copyright:

JCLR will have the copyright on all the papers published online as well as in its print version. In case an author wishes to publish her paper on some other forum, written permission from the JCLR Board has to be obtained. Detailed information on copyright will be uploaded on CPCJPS website shortly.
