Anyone from or joining nlud batch of 2019 ? If seniors are around can you tell me what life at nlud is like ? And how is the ragging scene if I might ask :P ?

I’m joining the batch of 2019… I’m pretty curious about the ragging scene too, not to mention the situation at the hostels. I went for the spot counselling and I was pretty disappointed by the infamous “cafeteria”.
I know your post isn’t exactly new, so have you found out anything since then? The people at admissions are being dodgy about answering questions about hostels and all, you’d think they were guarding some national secrets.

As to how many people turned up… I didn’t count, but there was a minimum of 40. It might have been around 50 or 60, I don’t know. I was like the fifth or sixth person to be called and I left once I was done. I can’t tell you the exact rank, but I estimate that it went up to the people who scored 99 marks. It would depend on the person’s 12th standard result.
I don’t know about scholarships, but I think there’s some provision for financial aid for backward classes…

by scholarship ,i meant international ones like rhodes,commonwealth etc.hoping for a reply frm prospective nlud students ones know abt their college.

Okay, wow. If you want people to answer your questions, you REALLY shouldn’t imply that they don’t know about their college.
Yes, I do know about people who’ve received scholarships for higher studies abroad, but I don’t feel particularly inclined to share the information with you. Had you done a simple Google search, you would have found the NLU-D Recruitment Brochure. Go download it and stop expecting other people to find information that is so readily available on the net.

Yes. How does laundry work? I mean, do we wash our own clothes, are there machines, etc. I honestly cannot find this information. And how important is it to have a room cooler in the Aug-Dec semester? Is Delhi weather that hot in August?
And I also want to know about the uniform that we supposedly have to wear once a week. The college says they’ll get it stitched, so they provide the cloth? I see people wearing western formals and some girls wearing these white kurtis.Which of these does the college provide, or both?
Would be pretty grateful if someone has the answers to these questions. I live in Chennai and the college is rather unresponsive.

I am not from NLU-D but I can help about the weather part. It’s quite hot in Delhi even in August and September, and the humidity due to monsoons makes it more unbearable. Being from Chennai, you might not feel humidity to be very high, but it still is more than in other months. Personally, I cannot tolerate this weather without an air conditioner or cooler.

A dhobi comes to the college on a daily basis, so you can deposit the clothes with him and you’ll get them back in a day a or two. Washing machines aren’t provided, but a couple of you could pool in and get one for your floor. Most people get by without a cooler in the odd semester. The college will provide all the materials for the uniform that we wear on a “weekly” basis. Your measurements will be taken on the day of the orientation, or a day before and will be stitched and given to you in a month or two. The college provides the cloth. You get to decide between the two uniforms.

Thank you so much! You’ve honestly been a huge help, I was worried that I would have to wash all my own clothes.
It’s good to know that the college provides the uniforms. I was only unsure because with the white salwars that the girls wore in magazine pictures, each one looked a little different. I assumed that the girls bought them on their own, so I wasn’t sure if I should buy one.
Do you know if any storage space is provided in the hostel rooms? Or do people buy cupboards and stuff?
Thanks a lot for answering my questions! It’s such a relief that at least some of the seniors (assuming you’re my senior) are helpful!

There are cupboards in the rooms, i dont think you’d require any additional storage space.
