NLU-D or NUJS?

I’ve asked a NLU-D student and a NUJS student.
The verdict as of right now is that:
NLU-D has a better campus and better infrastructure. It has better funding. It allows you to intern in your third year and the law firms in Delhi are very good.
But the placements in NLU-D aren’t as good as NUJS; and also that NUJS, as you said, has a stornger alumni base.
In NUJS, with a better alumni base, better placements and a better student life, it has been having problems with its administration and its faculty. Also, if NLU-D is on par with NUJS in the six years its been around, it is hopeful that it will keep up this tremendous progress, isn’t it?
With these points that I have pointed out, do tell me what you think

in NLUD people are imprisoned practically, they can go out of the campus only for 2 hours a day, between 4 to 6. thats it. quality of life is way much better in NUJS. and yes, i have been to both the places, lived in NUJS for 5 years, and some very close friends are from NLUD.
fees is a good point though.
NUJS still has better faculty. there are people from delhi who refuse to leave delhi, and they are the ones who leave NLSIU or NUJS for NLUD. Its no big deal, i have seen people leaving NUJS for GNLU. its a personal preference for city, nothing else.

Hi. Well, Sheena’s exaggerated views about imprisonment aside, I’d like to assure you that the curfew, though officially six, is manageable. I’ve come back at 10 myself numerous times without repercussions. Dwarka is close to the bustling areas of Delhi and I’ve found myself exploring the city hours later after the “curfew”. Also, weekends have practically no curfew due to the lenient policy on “going home” out passes.
Wow. Again an unqualified assertion. I’d disagree and say it right off the bat - NLUD has more number of better professors as as compared to NUJS, not to mention the actually visiting faculty (Delhi, yay!). Check out both college’s faculty list.
As far as people leaving Delhi, I’ve known people living in Hyderabad leaving NALSAR for Delhi. Yes. In the last three years, a lot of people from outside Delhi have left NALSAR/NUJS/NLUJ for Delhi. Again, do your research well. The Delhi factor cannot be discounted.
As soon as NUJS has a new VC it will be booming again. Ranveer singhs tenure at NLUD is almost over.
Lets see what happens to NLUD when some retired judge takes over it ;)
I will always go by the academic culture, student and alumni base and quality of life. Quality of life in dwarka, which is hardly in Delhi and more like in a desert, sucks. Yes, you can try and make the best of the situation, but it doesnt come within miles of NUJS. ALso, NUJS is the most liberal law school in India. I will never opt for NLUD over NUJS.
Ranbir Singh’s tenure isn’t almost over. In fact, he got an approval for a second term last year.

I understand the dilemma you must be going through - I went through the same series of questions four years ago but I chose nujs simply because of it’s reputation as a liberal institution with a good academic culture. Yeah, we might not have fancy buildings but we are not lacking on basic infrastructure in any way. And you have this great practice where the seniors always help out the juniors. And no matter where you intern you’ll always see someone from nujs who’ll help you out just because of the nujs connection. There’s a great alumini base with it. You’ll also get the freedom to do numerous optional courses and you’ll still have a lot of time to take up independent projects. I’d say go for nujs anytime.
if it had been 4-3 yrs ago ,definitely nujs,now things have changed,do your research and the answer will be in front of you.

Dwarka is hardly in Delhi?! Are you serious? Have you even seen the place? Sure, it may not have hangouts exactly next door but they are very close. If you want it right next, then what is in Delhi except for Cannaught Place?
I left NUJS for NLUD. And I can safely say I don’t regret my decision one bit.
Ranbir Singh just got a five year extension to his tenure, and Dwarka is close enough to the city’s courts and firms for commuting to not be a hassle, as it takes about 50 minutes to reach the SC/HC.
