Hi,

Firstly I’ll introduce myself. I am a 33 years old male with degrees in Engineering and Management from unarguably most prestigious group of Institutes in India. I am reasonably settled in my current profession, business and IT consulting with one of the largest services companies and holds a designation which is just shy of being called senior management.

Until 10 months ago, I didn’t know a single word about Indian legal system nor I had any aspirations. But then thanks to my (to-be-ex)wife who has well supported extremely gender biased Indian laws around matrimonial affairs, I was dragged into multiple litigations with proceedings being criminal in nature. Anyways, I am not here to seek advice on litigations that I am facing. In due course of preparation of my defense, I developed a deep liking around jurisprudence and keep reading about law with subject of these reading going well beyond my own worries. I prepare all of my documents (petitions,pleas etc) and always get good feedback from my counsels. That has encouraged me to explore options, long term, which I may have in this area.

I need advice on what I can do to initiate my career in legal world? Is it too late for me now? Is it advisable for me to leave well settled and rewarding career in one field to jump into uncertain world? Some of my direct questions are?

1. I want to join a distance course to get my LLB which would enable me to apply for admission in Bar council. But I have been told that Bar council would admit you only if LLB has been through full time course. Any options there?

2. There is another option of working in the area of back-end research. I can potentially work on the cases which a law firm may be handling and can provide all back-end research including various perspective of law on the case. I can potentially create a team of my own to provide this help in outsourced model to any law firm working in India.

Can anybody provide more insight on these? If anybody wants to explore these options more, please let me know. We can discuss further.
