Couple of points to remember:

Start as soon as possible.

Lay your hand on as many solved old papers as possible (by that i mean even the ones for the individual colleges from before the CLAT days).

Read the news paper (Hindu editorial is a gold mine, Times of india is ok)

Schedule and Focus.

Target the paper section by section..

MATHS: DO u have math in 11th & 12th? If yes & if u r pretty decent @ it.. Not to worry..

Start working out RS aggarwal…

ENGLISH: Try to learn atleast 10 new words a day…from a word list..

Read Hindu Editorial. Like previously said “GOLDMINE” Will help u learn many new words.. It’ll also improve ur Reading Comprehension Skills..

LEGAL APTITUDE: Are u part of any coaching institute? Or do u intend to join for the last one month crash? I was from LST and it was pretty good for the Legal… They also help U with mocks.. U could try other coaching institutes .. But i am not aware of how effective they are… Some say Sriram academy notes are good.

The entire 9th & 10std civics should be at ur finger tips…

Follow newspaper for any law related news such as amendments , scams in judiciary, appointment of judges, landmark judgements etc.

do every math problem in your highschool text books again.

get some guides or texts on legal reasoning and legal knowledge ..and read.

read everything you can get your hands on..even the back of the milk carton (you never know)..follow at least one news show religiously…i would advice you to follow doordarshan..it shows a lot of stuff other news channels miss…the kind of stuff they like to ask in exams

if you get time read palkhivala,get a copy of pm bakshi’s constitution for reference…

apart from this year most of the papers have been similar..so do all the previous question papers…

buy a yearbook…that never goes in vain..i got 5 marks this year thanks to the year book…any year book is fine really.

no matter what you do dont waste time trying to memorise everything..just keep reading…chances are when faced with options you will pick the right one on impulse if you have read the question some where before..some part of your brain probably just guides you…trust your instincts..

write as many mocks,quizes as you possibly can.

try and discuss everything you have learnt at the end of they day with a friend

Hai Fellow Law Aspirant,

I would recommend u to join LST classes or at least take their postal services.

The material is very helpful and will surely help u to compete sucessfully in the CLAT 2011. Also u should spend at least 3-4 hrs daily. read papers and be up to date. If u will do this combined with determination and dedication I think u can surely top CLAT 2011.

Join IMS for CLAT. The BRM’s [ basic reference material] provided by the coaching institute is really good and exhaustive.

Please stop lambasting about Sriram. God knows why people are promoting it everywhere. LST and IMS’s material are much superior to it. I know cause i have materials of all three.

While I do agree about the quality of study materials provided. LST is far too commercialised for it to be able to provide any meaningful individual attention and care. I went to Sriram, although I did feel a distinct lack of direction in some of their materials, nothing can beat Hema ma’am’s personal care and attention. She’s always available to talk to, whether you’re based in Chennai or not, no book anywhere can make up for that.

Am based in Bangalore now, enough said.

This year’s GK was a farce.

Sound Knowledge? Optional.

Luck and ability to score in every other segment? Mandatory.

To be honest this year’s paper was embarrassingly below par. NO ONE deserved to get into ANY NLU based on such a meaningless paper (I’m in one though :) ). DO NOT use this year’s paper as any kind of reference point for your studies. NUJS has quality and it will show in the next CLAT (which is far more than I can say for NLIU Bhopal unfortunately), expect current affairs and legal reasoning.

There have been news that NUJS is going to be the last NLU to conduct CLAT. From CLAT 2012 onwards, there ll be an organisation established only to deal with CLAT. This would obviously standardize CLAT.

The most important aspect of making your way to Law School is Reasoning. Start from the basics of Reasoning(Critical, Analytical and Legal). This would cover almost half the paper and will be make or break section. Read newspaper everyday along with any of the current affairs monthly magazines. Also join any coaching center if you want to. Use your time wisely and you ll make it at the first attempt.

hey, preparing for CLAT is easy if you just figure out what needs to be done. just be smart in your preparation.

some fantastic books are out in the market now, so dont rely blindly on universals guide to LLB. use rs agarwal for objective english and analytical reasoning.

practice new questions regularly. you shall find many new types of questions posted on CLAThacker regularly. solve those, post your doubts over there for others to solve.

keep in touch with others who are preparing for clat, that helps a lot.

Am a bit worried about the number of coaching institutions which are growing like lemmings.

I’ll adivise only a few of them to CLAT aspirants: IMS and LST for sure.

LST was the leader; thats when I was the CLAT aspirant and that was a decade ago! Ha kidding! Say 3 years ago.

Sachin Malhan, Bhavin Patel and Kunal Mehra (the LST legends) did great job of mentoring the students.

Now, the LST modules haven’t really been updated and I am not sure what their present leadership is.

At a time, when LST is lagging, IMS has come up with better, more well researched CLAT modules.

Rajneesh Singh and Ramanuj Mukherjee (of CLAThacker fame) form a formidable duo and have done amazingly well!

If I were to give CLAT 2011, I’ll take something from LST and something from IMS; say a test series from one and classroom coaching from another?

IMS is as commercialised as LST. Both are run by Training institutes which specialise in MBA entrance exams primarily…:sick:

They only seem to have presence in calcutta.Their Bangalore office drew a BIG BLANK when i called them about their courses. So much for PRESENCE …:evil:

So maybe some other personalised training from smaller institutes, who have been around longer, is probably a better option.

However, I must tell you that I have personally seen the IMS law’ modules and found them to be very comprehensive and very well researched.

Its my conviction that IMS is doing a pretty thorough job with its law coaching. There might still be some old comments of mine on a few Orkut communities which speak the same thing.

IMS is running law course in 50 locations.

IMS delhi has 10 times more students than IMS Kolkata for Law.

IMS is an MBA training institute and i think you are BSing about the Other IMS centers RUNNING the law prep course. They only offer their law prep program in Kolkata because they only have the faculty , namely Ramanuj and Rajneesh, based out of kol. :unsure:

IMS def have 50 franchise centers but they dont provide law in any of them except Kolkata. pls. correct if wrong BY PROVIDING names and numbers of these centers to that we can call and verify your TALL claims. :P

p.s. at least the other law entrance institues specialize only in law entrance prep.and dont have their fingers in all the pies… :evil:

IMS had 2000 students in Apox 50 centers across India for CLAT 2011.

Do not provide the false info here.

…and 3 IMS centres of IMS kolkata do not come in top 5 centres of IMS in terms of numbers.

IMS is much bigger than just some faculties

and having multi product but similar products makes it more efficient.

Rajneesh singh is the product manager , at national level.
