I have a question for you. Many American companies choose to form a company in India with the same name. For example, there is Serco in America, and then there is Serco Pvt. Ltd. in India. Why is this done? Is there a law regarding this?

We have a US consulting company that would like to start doing consulting in India. Are they required to start up an Indian company for this or can they do the work using only their US company within India?
