i bought a flat in hyderabad recently and the house is registered in my name, i am living in the same flat and i pay all the bills including the electricity bill which is in the name of the builder. the building is not fully complete and none of the amenities are available so i kept a little amount to myself and told him that you give me the amenities and finish the building and i will do the complete payment. suddenly one day he switches off the electricity of my flat while my husband was in the office and i was at home. i called the supervisor and he told me that due to the non payment the builder has switched off the electricity. i called the builder and tried to explain him our outlook and even if we pay him the remaining money we will need a few days time, he simply cannot take away the electricity. this is sheer torture.so, does the builder have rights to take away the electricity just because the bill is in his name? and what rights do i have in such a situation?
