I need your advice regarding a sensitive issue regarding the college hostel I’m staying in. For the protection of both parties, I will not mention the college name.

According to the hostel agreement we signed, we are to pay lumpsum of Rs. 50000 for a period of 11 months. 1st June this year to 30th April next year.

For a long time, this bill has been an all inclusive including cleaning lady, electricity, water etc.

We paid the bill in March this year. Now, in the month of August, the management came to us and told us that we are supposed to pay electricity bill extra.

I feel what they are doing is illegal. If they had to impose a bill on top of the actual hostel fees, they should have let us know before we paid the bills or before we opted for the hostel. Now, we are already staying in the hostel,already signed a legally binding contract and they suddenly ask us to pay the extra bill. We have made known our resentment, but the college is adamant.

Do you think we have a case here?
