I am now in second year (your immediate senior). The point is that no one, at least from the boys’ hostel, comes from home daily. People go home on Friday evening and come back on Monday morning. However, every visit to home requires permission from the Warden which can be gotten quite easily.

A letter to the Registrar, though, can do wonders, though. Try that. In my opinion, nothing can be done, but if ANYTHING is possible, it’s gonna be with a request to the Registrar.

Ans. 1 Yes. You can ask even more. :P

Ans. 2 There is a form that you will have to fill (takes 1 and a half minute) that is available in the Warden’s office and get it signed by him/her.

Ans. 3 We won’t rag you. Promise. If someone does, tell a senior who looks friendly enough to you. Frankly, the seniors don’t talk to the freshers for the fear of the communication being considered ‘ragging’. What is your definition of ragging, btw?

Ans. 4 Write now if you want. Just make sure he reads it. Remind him when you’re the semester commences.

i wanted to know some things about the hostel..like the timings and if we can stay out post 6p.m. ?

and if we have saturday classes as well?

By the rulebook, you can’t stay out of the campus after 6:00 PM. However, a leverage of 30 minutes is acceptable, but carries a minuscule risk.

You can stay outside the hostel, but within the campus, till 9:00 PM.

Yes, we do have classes on most of the Saturdays. Especially if the college decides to give Holi/Diwali/Dusshera holidays(They compensate for these holidays by making saturdays working)

Parents can come in to meet you. VC Sir abhors ‘cousins’ and ‘brothers & sisters’. However, I think siblings will be allowed if they’re accompanied by parents. I, for one, have taken numerous walks in the campus with my Dad.

Yeah. It’s gonna be problematic. But, possible some of the times.

Not really. If you make good friends, as I did in my Hostel, everything is a breeze!

Somil: It’s preferable to ask. No one would ask you to call them ‘sir’. Some would insist on calling them by their names only. And most would be happy with ‘bhaiya’. The only thing that matters is respect. If you respect your seniors, the way you address them is inconsequential.

Okay so I’m a fourth year student at NLUD and honestly wouldn’t have cared enough to reply to this post until I saw WRONG information being given to you by your immediate seniors (kids these days).

There ARE a handful of students who do not stay on campus at all. Both boys and girls - not a lot of them, but like I said a handful, due to exceptional circumstances of course. So you can just speak to your warden about it and explain your situation to them and they will allow it. And as per the procedure for doing so, I’m not sure, so it would be best if you speak to your warden on the orientation day and they’ll help you out with it.

And once it is allowed and you are sure that you dont want to stay in the hostel AT ALL, you need not even pay the hostel fees. Of course that can be worked out later. But yeah, it IS allowed.

And to all juniors, PLEASE get your facts straight before HELPING out freshers. It’s okay if you don’t give them any information, but at least don’t give them wrong information.

I just called our dear warden Dr. Singh to confirm. He said that it’s no longer within his powers. You will have to write/talk to the Registrar who is also the Chief Warden.

So, dear senior, the info WAS right. Sorry if it seemed to you that I was misleading.

Hey , I wanted to know if students in nlu delhi who have a knack for music , use electric guitar amplifiers and stuff? (within a reasonable volume of course).

What to trust when the thread develops a single way of thinking and then in comes the reality check.

I am planning to apply for NLU-D (via AILET) but I can only proceed if someone can help me through the procedure for requesting a non-staying (day scholar) which can almost ensure that my request will be granted. I have no special reason just that I live very nearby and the monthly hostel fee will actually be costlier than the monthly conveyance.

All help will be appreciated.

Hey everyone! Actually i want to apply for NLU Delhi this year. But i’ve a query.. is it mandatory to stay at hostel?

Yeah, actually NLUD has a dearth of hostel space for men right now. So, the admin will actually encourage you not to stay in the hostel. But it should be possible for women also, because they can’t discriminate on that aspect

Hello. I want to ask that is it compulsary for students of NLUD (Ba LLb) to stay at hostel. I am asking because I belong to a middle class family and can’t afford that much fees. I have house to live in delhi. Can we stay in the house or is it necessary to stay in hostel?
