law from not so good colg??? any future??

hey frnz, i stay in delhi. always wanted to do law. i couldnt clear law faculty delhi university.n had not applied to any other colg . i cant think of changing to any other field. i had always wanted to be a lawyer. now i am planning to do law from any of the college in ncr under ccs or mdu. parents are not supporting this. but i cant see any other option. i am thinking to do c.s. along with it. so that it can enhance my profile. whts say???? m realllly confused…plz help!!!!

What matters is not being a student from a top law school but being a diligent student of law. Though being from one of the top law schools does give you some edge, basically in terms of reputation, communication skills and networking, it is ultimately single minded devotion and HARD WORK that matters. Perhaps Law is the only profession where it the pedigree of your Law degree does not ultimately matter. You can pick up and be more than proficient than any top law school grad if you put your heart to it. Most of the doyens of Indian Law passed from mediocre or even sub standard colleges, slogged as juniors in provincial courts, survived on pittances and mastered the law. Don’t get disheartened by the pop swanky Law Firm Culture that has been projected to be the future of the Legal profession. Real Law practise in India is still an affair at small law offices and sweaty hot court rooms. You learn real ropes of law there. There your fancy english or your national law school student does not matter, what matters is the hard work you have put in in preparing your cases. I am sure you will do fine, you seem to have the grit to become a lawyer. just be sure to study diligently no matter which college you attend. Best of Luck!!

I am at consensus with whatever have been said above by Mr. Pradhan. In the long run it doesn’t matter from where have you done your law degree, all that matters is your depth of Knowledge and zeal to learn. And talking about CS, it is a very worthy combination with Law. It will help you in getting a Job at the early stages of your career and will give you an edge. CS itself is a very diversified course, however it is more sort of focussed on Secretarial area and you might find it difficult switching to Law Practice after devoting so much time & energy in Pursuing CS. But still I think CS would be helpful along with LLB. I myself is a CS & LLB and currently undergoing training in an organisation. It surely is job of repute & respect. So go for it. yes sir i will continue c.s. along with it. even if m not able to clear all d exams.. c.s. executive is more den 70percent law. so i will b able to gain knowledge.

I really agree with whatever Mr. Pradhan and Mr. Vikrant said, but I differ with both of them at a single point and that is when a student wants to become a corporate lawyer, because interning at top law firms do makes a difference when it comes to getting a job in a law firm or MNC’s and considering present scenario regarding internships, it is such a difficult thing to secure a internship at reputed law firm being not from top law school. If you are interested in Litigation, you just need a good lawyer to start your life, but if you want to become a corporate lawyer, sitting in AC office and enjoying corporate life then you need to intern at few good reputed law firms and for that you need one of the two things- ‘A branded college’ or ‘Jugaad/Networking’ whatever you may call it.
