Yes, everything that looks promising might not translate to “better” but there is a high chance they do.

International placements in the first batch are not a joke. I’ll call them better that just “good”.

NALSAR? I would estimate positively. NALSAR has reached its optimum. NLUD hasn’t. If there is one college in India with the potential to challenge NLS, its NLUD.

NLUD has achieved great heights in a very short span of time; its growth has been tremendous and the fact that it has managed to clinch on to Justice Ranbir Singh for another 5 years, only makes it all the more amazing.

In the coming 5 years, I believe, NLUD will definitely come to par with NLSIU.

I would have chosen NLU Delhi any day. The placements of the fourth year batch are more or less at par with NUJS’ 4th years. The city Delhi is of course better than Kolkata. Even Dwarka is a match for the famous Salt Lake. A huge mall is under construction just 2 minutes from the campus. NLU Delhi hosts a lot of guest lecturers and reputed personalities, so more exposure. NLU Delhi any day. The campus is a lot better and bigger. Faculty is similar. Guest faculty gives Delhi the edge. Overall, the Delhi factor and the campus infrastructure prevail as the everything else is evenly matched.

The placements for the incoming 5th year have been comparable. All the top firms have recruited and more than 5 people have international training contracts.

There are 5 Vacation schemes, not Training Contracts. The placements for the graduating batch have been very dismal, with only about 1/4th of the batch being recruited (Figures revealed by people graduating this year, not a figment of my imagination). The incoming 5th year batch has done well, no doubt.

I understand NLU-D sounds attractive, but the locational advantage is a pure myth. By having a law school in Delhi, you do no better than Kolkata or Hyderabad unless you allow your students to pursue articleships (like GLC, Bombay). Mooting is NOT the sole reflection of how good a law school is, no matter how good it is at NLU-D.

I would differ from BPS. Location plays a key importance. Taken. Location does not factor in getting internships (normally) but there are certain other opportunities it provides. A large number of hugely qualified guest speakers are a boon to any university and NLU Delhi makes the best use of this.

Mooting can never determine the best level. But it does establish that the student quality with academic integrity. NLU Delhi, even after being so young, has done brilliantly. Nobody can deny that the students are brilliant. With lots of firms coming in, the college will only grow.
