we have given gold jewellery (worth 10 to 15 lakhs at today’s gold price) in return for a monthly payment/interest of rs.3500, to our landlord 5 years ago without any legal documents/agreements or without any time limit for its return. we finally asked last march (2012) the landlord to return our jewellery, but he said that he would return it in november, so we consulted a lawyer who drafted an agreement saying he had to return the jewels in november, but he did not stipulate what would be done if the jewellery was not returned in time and also he did not mention the weight of the gold items. the agreement has the signatures of the landlord and his wife but no witness’ signature. we consulted another lawyer and he said that this agreement was useless and the legal way of recovering the gold would be lengthy and costly. this agreement is the only proof we have wrt the jewels given to our landlord. till now the landlord has not returned anything, he is dilly dallying. in what way can we recover our gold…please help
