I have a brother who is a US citizen.My mother and father are also US citizens.After my father’s death, my brother came back India and left my mother at his in-laws, in nov 2012. My mother was neglected and not taken care of.Finally, this year in Jan, we brought our mother to live with us at Himachal.We are very much taking care of her and she is doing good.But since that was against the wishes of my brother, he is now tormenting us through Punjab police.Cops daily call us and ask us to report to police station.When we say we will, only let us know the charges, they are blank.Finally they came to our place today,threatening us.It has a property matter attached to it. Since my mother was so much tormented emotionally, she never wants to go back to my brother and has even changed her will. We fear that police might forcibly take away my Mom from us.Since my mother is US citizen and my brother had alreadt complained to US embassy, representative from Embassy had already called us, talked to my mother and concluded that they dont have a problem if my mother wants to live with us.All they want is for her to be happy.I just want to ask since my brother had not filed any FIR in same, can police interfere in same.Also he had already filed civil suit against us.So where does police fit in this all.If we dont report to police, will it be considered an offence.We had already made my mother appear before magistrate and declare that she is living at her own will and dispatched the same to top level police officers in punjab.Still of no help.Please we need help.
