hey guys..i need some advice regarding which firm to intern at. Ive got an internship at AZB Bangalore and JSA Bangalore..which one should I join??? Also, im in the final year (5th) now.. so would like to know about the recruitment policy of the two firms..do they recruit from the batch of interns that they have or do they only go for campus placements??

JSA does not have a regular intake policy. They recruit once in a while, mostly through campus recruitments at NLS and NUJS only.
AZB Bangalore, again as opposed to its Mumbai office, does not visit campuses regularly for recruitment. For instance, they hired only 1 chap from NALSAR this time.
However, out of the two, AZB would be a better choice as they atleast have no inhibitions against hiring fresh grads unlike JSA.

What is your rank in class? Intern at AZB only if you are in the top 3-4 of your class.

@ intern gawd: Thanks a lot for your inputs..ive heard about JSA’s inhibition against hiring freshers from other law students as well.
@ me: Now dats not a good situation for me..my overall percentage till now is around 59%..its definitely not great. But ive done moots, written research papers and articles and have interned a AZB, Delhi, a year back. Will my extra-curricular achievements compensate for an average cgpa????

Average CGPA spells doom. I am in the same boat. I have an average CGPA. I have other extra curricular stuff to back it up but certain firms shortlist you just on the basis of your CGPA.
Lets hope they understand.

Although a good CGPA is important to get a job at top tier firm, it is not the only criteria that will ensure a PPO. It is important that you take your internships seriously and showcase your talent to the recruiters. A person needs much more than just a good CGPA to be a good lawyer. I have friends who got jobs with top tier firms even when they were not in the top 10 students (in terms of CGPA) of their batch. So chill!!!!!

Our Career Division Cell gets people internships i UNICEF, UNHCR etc. So it is not like you cannot get a internship. Send in your application to the organization

First of all, you can only be at one place at one time. Though they all are good cities to be in, lock down one. It will be much easier for you to then pick a worthy law firm.

First things first.
Congratulations!
Everyone does not land an international organisation internship in their first year.
If it is not already evident, yes, WWF is a great place to intern at.
In the first year of law, you are required to intern in an NGO, if that NGO happens to be of international repute, it doesn’t get better than that.
You might be required to do real work here compared to other NGOs where your slacking abilities are put to test but the work will all be worth it when you get that fancy internship certificate.
Not only will this internship look good on your CV but these world organisation internships are given importance by foreign universities when they scan your CV for LLM selection. ( A little far off, but it counts.)
So, go save the environment.
