Hello all,

Yesterday, a group of college going students caught, RED HANDED, a few (minor)teenagers doing drugs. They started beating these kids when I noticed the situation and stopped the college students from beating these kids. All but one kid escaped the situation and I felt calling police is right thing to do. I waited for police to reach for 45 mins but no one turned. Meanwhile the kids’ family members arrived with their religious leader in that locality. After a long argument with the parents and the local people I had to leave the kid with his parents.

This left me with a few questions:

1. Isn’t there any legal system to take action on drug addiction?

2. What should be done immediately after catching someone red handed doing drugs?

3. What should be done if police doesn’t show up in time?

4. I came to know that there were many kids in that locality who do drugs and even visited those places where they do this. What can be done to rehabilitate these kids? How to educate their parents that this is going to kill their children. Are there any NGOs working on this in Bangalore? How can I find and contact them.

Well that’s too much of information but I can’t rest myself till I see a solution to this. Any suggestions or solutions are appreciated.
