Any use for an American JD in India?

Dear All,
I’m an Indian citizen who is currently studying in America. I’m interested in going to law school in America to get a JD and practice law in America. However, I am also interested in moving back to India later in life so that I can be with my family, etc.
I would like to know what possibilites there exist in India for somebody with an American JD degree from a top law school (e.g. Harvard, Columbia, NYU, Chicago). I am interested in two career options: 1. Law and 2. Academia.
Please do advice on my prospects. Thank you very much for your time.

I think it possibly adds a bit of value, though nothing commensurate to the money you’ll be spending, IMHO.

But yes, if you want to do the JD purely to learn and to have the opportunity of working in the US, then go for it, I reckon…
