dude chill…its not that bad…

am in NLS lko…gave clat last year…

all you need to ask is if you have the passion for this profession..

da situation mite be chilled out in RMLNLU Lucknow, but here at NALSAR or NLSIU or even NUJS/NLU Jodhpur, the situation is pretty different…if u wanna do come out with flying colours u’ll hv 2 wrk hard…da first 3 semesters are very very easy..infact u dnt hv 2 study more dan 4 hrs a day in da first three…bt da real grilling starts after da third sem…fourth sem onwards da subjects are very boring…like CPC, Law of Limitation etc..so u have to study a lot in third and fourth year…bt in the fifth year u hv da real fun !! nthng much 2 study…almost everyone is placed nd life rocks!

moreover, there much more than semester studies at law schools, u do moots, write papers, get dem published, do parliamentary debates, attend conferences..so time passes quickly and u are always preoccupied with smthng or the other…life rocks at law schools !! u’ll luv every bit of it…so dont fear and take it easy!!

I am from NLU Jodhpur and I agree with Nalsarite. It is not difficult to survive if you do the right things. But life after CLAT is not a cake walk either. It is all about how you manage your time. You will have cut throat competition which will only get worse in the third and fourth years right till your placements. Some people would prefer excelling in moots while others will want to win Parliamentary Debates or attend MUNs. There will be this other category that will only focus on academics and will get papers published. You have a lot of things to choose from and decide what to do. But one thing is for sure- you’ll find competition everywhere.

As a NLU-J alumnus, I can say with fair clarity that giving the CLAT is the tip of an iceberg. Just so your ideas are not foggy - whatever you have heard about law schools is probably true - but you need to gauge and fit it into your particular law school as you see it.

Law schools are not heaven, but they aren’t hell either. Its a tough line to walk, but if you have any impressions of life at DU or MU or IIT’s or IIM’s being any easy, you most certainly are wrong.

More than anything else, college (albeit any for that matter) is about growing up.

You cannot be scared of growing up - take the plunge, make some mistakes, rectify them, look back at them and laugh - in a nutshell that is law school for you.

For all those who’d be joining law schools this year and may be worried -

It’s wrong to think that any pressure that anyone feels at law school is any different from any other college.

Don’t forget that you’re writing an entrance for some of the best professional universities in the country. Of course, things seem a little difficult to a few some of the times. I know of friends who’ve had hard times at other (NLS/NALSAR) or even my own university (NUJS). But like lexosaurus said, your coping with these pressures would be a vital part of your education. More than anything else, you’d learn to take it as a part of a thrilling professional experience.

Believe me, we have it easier than many other students in medical / engineering schools because you’d be surrounded by fellow students and faculty who would understand you well.

Come to law school. Choose the right set of friends. Set your priorities right. Strike the balance and discover yourself.

The top law schools will give you this liberty. You won’t have to drown yourself in books for five years. Nor would you be limited by the thoughts of getting a job at the end of it. You will meet people who will greatly influence your life and be your close associates for years to come.

You really chilled me off. I was not scared about the pressures, because i totally love challenges.

But.. people around me are ALWAYS questioning me aiming for LAW. They are all prejudiced about it. Why can’t they grow up and realise that its 2010, and Law is a competitive sector too with equally vibrant opportunities.

You guys make Law School sound like REALLY interesting and enthralling. Mooting sounds like fun..

Well..I hope I make it to the top the next year.

Sometimes its easy to be successful when you have got a whole bunch of positive thinkers behind you.
