Unmarried couple living in a housing complex and uncooperative resident association

A friend of mine owns a house in a housing society. The house is bought from builder and not bought on resale from anyone.
He is having some problems with his neighbors and residents association, since recently his lady partner moved in with him in his house.
They are quite people, no nonsense, working professionals who are not ready to get married as yet.
Is there a problem with this? Usually in such cases it is very difficult to find a house. But in this case he owns the house but resident association doesn’t approve.
What is the informal way out or if situation arise a legal recourse in such a case?

The property belongs to your friend, and he has a legal right to use the property in the manner which we wants to. If some illegal action is taken by the neighbours, your friend may resort to the appropriate remedy depending on the nature of the action, which if at all arises (e.g. “Criminal Trespass” if they do this forcefully which is why I said it will depend on the nature of the action).
Thanks for the advise. I will get ask for if things starts getting nasty, right now my friend and his partner are being treated as a social outcast in the complex, which they are pretty happy with, considering their “mind my own business” attitude.
