I must say i am one of the strongest supporters of media restrain…but the private bill supposed to be brought about by congress MP. Miss.Nataranjan,

is vastly different from what i had in mind.I wanted the media community to understand and accept their responsibility…I wanted a committee which would guide the media like a loving father with a strict hand..Punish them and make them understand their mistake…Not cut off their tongues!!!!This is exactly what the The Print and Electronic Media Standards and Regulation Bill will do exactly that is its made into a law.This bill aims to nullify not only the powers of RTI but also give no jurisdiction to any civil court over the Authority established by the government!!And why does the Authority need to have search and seizure powers granted under these bills??They are supposed to deal with journalists not potential criminals or terrorists!!!I think the implication of this bill is clear to all..If passed this will quash the free voice of the press and make the public see only what the government whats to show..What kind of democracy is this??This bill is noting short of the infringement of our fundamental right.And most important of all,…why should the Authority consist of three people appointed by the central government of their choosing??..why not three eminent personalities from the field of media and journalism?..Think over this my dear friends…i totally support the need to restrain our media..but i dont think this is the right and just way…
