Hi,
Okay I feel now I have made the stupidest decision ever. I had gotten through NUJS Kolkata back in 2010, but I didnt take it up, even though I have always wanted to do law as I was told that Campus Law Centre is better for litigation in Delhi. I did my BA hons from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and I am now studying law at Campus Law Centre, Delhi. I realise now that it was a very foolish decision to make. But how can I cover it up now? What advantages does a good NLU have over CLC as far as litigation is concerned? Considering the Stephen’s + CLC combo, was it that bad a decision to have made?

Erm, yeah. You messed it up. I don’t think 3 year courses give one the sort of a booming and confident start that 5 year courses do today, especially when you’re comparing 5 years at NUJS.
Having said that, you come across as a smart chap so just put your head into it and work hard. If you were good enough to make it to NUJS in the first place, no reason why with persistent hard work you won’t someday make up for a lost opportunity through hard work.
But you truly did miss out on something!
since you are doing LLB from CLC, could you fill me in about what kind of placements it offers? I was planning to apply for it this year but i have heard that the placements aren’t great!

U ask with a particular interest in litigation, so i suppose u mean independent litigation. clc and other centres of law faculty are known to produce a major part of bar strength in delhi.
placement prospects in law firms and corporate are not as bright as national law schools, mainly because of lack of placement seeking mentality in the faculty. but this too is changing, as can be seen in the placement records of past few years. also senior counsels prefer hiring from clc.
in all, stephen’s + clc are good stars on a profile. even though one shud not opt for clc over nujs, the difference isnt very incomparable.
Hey. You didn’t make a mistake. Sure if you wanted to do law all your life it was a good idea to go to Calcutta. But the experience that you get in Stephen’s is something else. Du law fac is the only one that can still.compete with 5 year programs so it’s not that much that you’ve lost out. 5 years is anyway too much time to be doing just one thing. Now you’ve had a.different experience. Don’t be unfazed by the crappy infrastructure at du law.fac. It’ll work out.
