Viewing case file in court

AnonymousLLB 1 May 2012, 12:41

Hi,

I have some queries regarding viewing the case file in the court.

When we wanted to view our case file in the court, we were confronted with couple of lawyers (not related to our case) who prevented us from viewing the case file by ourself.

They said the file can only be viewed by the lawyers and the law does not allow the defendant/plaintiff to look at the case file in the court.

We were eventually able to get a look at our case file in the court and also found out by looking at the case file that we have been misrepresented in the court.

It seems likely that we would have to go to the court again for viewing the records.

1. Is there any law or court order that explicitly states that defendant/plaintiff are allowed to look at their case file in court without the representing lawyer.

Thanks in advance.
