I was in the exact situation when I was of your age. Firstly, you need to assess your capabilities, what are your strenghts, interests etc. Are you good at PCM or you have a genuine interest in law. Make a decision coz u don’t wana regret it later. If you have that technical bent of mind, go for engineering. If you can write well, debate, have good analytical reasoning and aptitude for law, then law may be the thing for you.

I will suggest that you ponder over this. Another suggestion is that only if you get into a top 10 law collges, you should go for it. Don’t worry about jobs, if you are good at law, you might land up with jobs between 4 lacs to 12 lacs per annum packages at top law firms or companies, much more than what engineers make.

frankly saying i love designing websites and coding and programming and stuff, i had never liked the fluids or machines or the way a transformer works. I cant understand why the hell one study these stuff, you can google it whenever required. Anyways i had selected pcm coz i liked coding and all and everyone in my locality everyone is a pcm student and rushing for IITs like anything. Later on i came to know i dont like pcm especially the c part, you cant think even in chem, just mug up the practicals and equations and spit it out, dont dare apply your brain…crap! so i am now deciding for law. atleast one have to apply brain and think logical not conventional.

btw what was your choice then? what did you select?

LOL..i was neither gud at coding nor mechanics, fluids etc..naturally I was dead sure I m not gona be an engineer. I took up law and did pretty well. I passed out of SLS Pune. Ventured into corporate n then litigation and back to corporate now. Currently happily working for an MNC in Mumbai.

listen, I guess you should go for software engineering, u wud be gud at it. Alternatively, please gather info about what lawyers do today.

If I would be in your shoes, I would apply for JEE as well as CLAT. Appear for exam, c wot u score..then decide. I am sure u dnt have time for much preparation, so plan intelligently. Study 2 hours for CLAT, it’s more than enuf..all the best

waoow…a sls pune grad. seriously i was looking for you since ages.

i had applied for iitjee as well as clat and i am pretty sure i wont clear JEE, the chem part will neutralize my phy and maths score. I would love to become a software engg. but therez isnt any exams which tests the algorithm of an app or check the codes. Its just you good at pcm so you are an engg. no matter u mugged it in the past 2 years, u just need to be good at pcm and softwares having no relation with Chem or phy. Maths is for sure everywhere no doubt.

I am confused as what shall i opt for. Max. engg. in my locality are either depressed or dropped the collg. even from IIT Kgp and MSRIT. Many are earning 2 lac p.a and others are happy working at Infosys or TISCO or SAIL from 8 to 8. And i live in bokaro, best after kota for jee asprints.

Yup, I will get in touch with you. A couple of suggestions: Start studin’ for Clat n SET, use Universal’s guide book as well as LST materials and other preparatory books recommended by tuition centres..read up newspapers, have gud current affairs. Besides, SLS Pune is a gud colg. It doesn’t have a gr8 campus but the people in college are intelligent ones. Making it to colg is difficult as more n more people are attempting to get into law prof, so u will have to work hard. Our colg has a decent placement scene at least when compared to other colgs.. U can pursure diploma courses in college alongside ur degree course..One very imporatnt thing for law students is internship. U finally land up at a place where you intern in your 4th or 5th year. Dnt wry about jobs, you will make more money than any fresher at Infy, TCS or Wipro. But aim for smthin like NLS, NALSAR or NUJS coz they are certainly better. In addition, if u get into SLS u will have one rocking life in Pune, it’s hell of a city, chilled out people n lot of party destinations.

i am not subscribed to lst and i cant ask my parents for the money for law, they dun even knw i had filled the form for clat and the sls. For the clat i am having a.p. bhardwaj’s sample papers of tmh. Btw hows the pearson guide or the ultimate guide for llb??? And hows to study for the clat? i mean my boards will start from 1st so how to balance both the courses. Is it wise if i dun prepare for engg. entrance exams..just the SET and CLAT??

well,Do not wait; the time will never be “just right’. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.

As for the road of clat & other law entrances,gear up buddy. there is still lotta tym to make full use of.If u cant go for LST materials,i’d say buy Universal’s guide for LLB,a well known book in the market.pick that up,n start working,give @least 1 hr daily,(off cousre not when u hav the board exam very next day).

Surf the net n ull find very known websites made by students itself for the benefit of law students,for eg,visit bleedlaw.com(website made by my friend Anubhav Verma,a student of RMLNLU),etc.These websites would help u alot in your prepartion.

Make use of internet,itz the biggest tool u have.

Read,read,n read.as much as possible.

in month of april,when the exams are over,give full fledged time to all these things.

Buy Pratiyogita Darpan,it would help u up in ur G.k as well as reasoning questions.

Buy a gud static g.k book,pick up ur class 9th n 10th maths buk for practice.

Work as much as u can,n the results will favour you.
