3rd Government Law College,International Law Summit,2012.

The Students for the Promotion of International Law, Mumbai & Government Law College present the 3rd Government Law College International Law Summit, scheduled to take place from 3rd-5th February, 2012.

THEME: INTERNATIONAL TRADE LAW AND ECONOMIC POLICY

In a highly globalised world economy, trade and economic relations have woven bonds of

interdependence, cooperation and competition between states, resulting in increased cross

border ventures and collaborations. The ramifications of international trade in the new economic

scenario have transnational consequences that alter the course of global policy. The Summit

will witness seminars conducted by leading law firms, within the realm of the theme, effectively

bringing together the entire legal fraternity spanning firms, practitioners and students for a

comprehensive analysis of the theme.

Kicked off by a Key Note Address by Mr. Nishith Desai, Managing Partner, Nishith Desai

Associates, and a panel discussion to be moderated by him, the Summit will be an eclectic mix

of lectures, presentations, and two competitions which will engage students from across the

country in an intriguing battle of wits.

Contributing and participating firms for the previous and upcoming editions of the Summit

include Nishith Desai Associates, Mulla & Mulla & Craigie Blunt & Caroe, Wadia Ghandy &

Co., AZB Partners, Bharucha Partners, J Sagar Associates, the Tata Group, and Udwadia and

Udeshi. The Summit offers a global platform for deliberation, discussion, and needless to say, a

never-before opportunity to engage with greatest minds in the country.

COMPETITIONS

Students of any university on a full-time or part-time basis in either a 3-year LLB or a 5-

year integrated BA/ BSC/ BCOM/ BLS LLB course at the time of the competition are

eligible to participate in the Competition.

• TREATY APPRECIATION COMPETITION

This competition has been modelled on the procedures of various bodies in the international

sphere entrusted with the task of evaluating and appraising the legality, consistency and

rationality of treaties, or other legislative documents.

INTERNATIONAL JUDGMENT DELIBERATION

•This competition brings a fresh approach to problem analysis and judgment making. Participants

are encouraged to analyze the facts of the case and arguments presented and arrive at, a judgment

that is infallible in law and innovative in thought.
