Personally I think its not a good idea to do LLM in India, it takes 2 yrs and very low job prospects, even top schools like NLS, NUJS and NALSAR struggle to place more than 3-5 students in law firms. The main openings for LLMs would be to qualify NET and get absorbed in academia, especially in the school where you intend to do LLM (but them its too few 1-2 per yr). On the other hand doing LLM abroad if you can get scholarship would be a great opportunity to open prospects of a law firm job in India (though you would be judged almost at par with the LLB students, do read Ms. Mody’s excellent article on usefulness of LLM http://barandbench.com/brief/1/417/back-to-square-one-life-after-an-llm). but given that indians like all things foreign it would be a better idea to opt for a foreign llm from a reputed university

Not true. Find out about LL.M. at Jindal and it’s just the other way round.

First, the program is industry oriented - you can specialise in Int. trade law or Corp law or IPR. There is great flexibility in choosing subjects. In third semester,, they have infrastructure law or Project Finance too. Second, it’s the only law school that provides internship and placement assistance to LL.M. students unlike National Law Schools. Third, the most significant advantage is you can opt for weekend mode. So, continue with your job/ practice, devote three days (Fri-Sun) to Jindal and you won’t loose on PQE points. What else do yo want?

would not recommend Jindal Law School///Its not a law school.its a Business. They charge 6 lakhs per annum…that means to be a law graduate you require 30 lakhs… I did law graduation in 3 lakhs :)
