Favourite Mumbai restaurant

kianganz 4 Jan 2010, 06:11

What’s your favourite restaurant in Mumbai?

I’ve been meaning to ask this for a while as always looking for nice new places to go, both for business and pleasure.

My favourite is probably Cafe Britannia both for atmosphere and the soul food.

Any others that have a special place in your heart?

Crystal at Marine Lines - reasonably priced - as a student who has to eat out everyday, the place is a welcome relief from all the other overpriced places in South Mumbai- the food’s alright - nothing to rave about, but well cooked - it’s a small dingy place , almost ramshackle I’d say, but then that’s precisely why it’s popular - adds to the old world charm without compromising on the hygiene. the popularity’s a pain, though-there’s always a crowd, and having to wait for your turn isn’t very nice when you’re ravenously hungry.

Cafe Universal, in Fort Market for the great ambience - Essentially, Mondy’s minus the crowds and noise of Causeway.

Tea Centre, in Churchgate for the divine Apple Butter tea, and old world charm.

Last, one of my favourites - Bayview, on the rooftop of the Strand near Radio Club - same view as from the Taj, but at a tenth of the price. Great place to kick back with a beer, pretty decent finger food too. Get there around 6-ish, watch the sunset. Bliss :)

My personal favorite is Bombay Blue of Lower Parel. I like this place because the ambience is pretty awesome and they have a wide array of options in their menu and this multi specialty restaurant stands out.
